Can I upgrade my i Mac 10.5.8 to Yosemite?

I am starting to have issues when I am using my older version of Safari. I am not using the latest version as I am still using iOS 10.5.8 on my iMac 7.1 with 1 GB of memory. What needs to be done to upgrade to Yosemite?

Back up your data, click here, and read the entire page. Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004; some other installed software may also be incompatible.
You'll need to install at least another 1GB of RAM, and should install a 4GB module; get it from a source such as OWC or Crucial.

  • Can I upgrade from the MAC version CS5 to the PC version CS6?

Hi all, I have a single marketing machine that is a MAC with CS5 suite.  We want to change over this MAC to a PC and I wanted to know if I can upgrade to the CS6 suite PC version.  I don't want the cloud because this laptop will not always have an internet connection.  So is it possible and what is the cost?
    Thanks!

You can make a platform switch. Otherwise you misunderstand how CC works. The programs still install locally and can be used offline if you don#t use any of the online features. They only require a check of your account every now and then to see if your subscription is still active.

-> Download Firefox 3.6.25 (Mac OS X 10.4 and later) can be found here:
    * http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
-> Firefox 4 versions and later do not run on a PowerPC Mac.
    * Firefox 4 and later require at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.
    * http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/9.0.1/system-requirements/
-> For an unofficial Firefox 4 compatible version (TenFourFox) that runs on PowerPC Macs with OS X 10.4.11 or OS X 10.5.8 you can look at:

If you aren't willing to upgrade your MacOS to something newer than about 5 years old, then consider using BootCamp and Windows, then use a Windows version of iTunes.
I personally recommend considering the MacOS update.  I have heard reports that if you call Apple on the phone, you might be able to purchase an upgrade to Snow Leopard for $30.  You could always find a friend who has a Mac with Snow Leopard or newer, and sign onto the Mac App store using your ID (but their computer) to buy a license for Lion or Mountain Lion, then after downloading it, use the Lion disc maker to make a bootable USB key to install the newer (and only $30) OS on your hardware.  With that, you would then qualify to run iTunes 10.7 or even iTunes 11.

  • Can I upgrade my Power Mac G3 (Blue and White) to USB 2.0?

I have a B&W G3 (300 Mhz) and a slot loading iMac ((600Mhz) both running 10.3.9. My daughter is looking into buying an iPod Nano which requires USB 2.0 How do I know whether either machine is USB 2.0 compatible ? If not can a USB 2.0 card be installed ?
    thanks

Currently you only have USB 1.1. To get USB 2.0, you need to install a USB 2.0 PCI card. However, not all USB PCI cards work in a Mac. Best bet is any card with a NEC PD72101 chipset (xlr8yourmac results recommend the same).Read this for more feedback:

My MacBook Air is at 10.6.8 and I would like to upgrade the OS to Yosemite 10.10.1. How can I accomplish this and is it safe to do?

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and download Yosemite from the Mac App Store.
It isn’t possible to tell if you’ll have a problem in advance.

  • Can I upgrade the ios 10.4 to 10.6 from my Mac book 2007?

Can I upgrade my MacBook Mac OS-X 10.4.11 to OS X10.6
My MacBook system: Intel Core 2 duo2.16 GHz 2G Ram
can I buy a new software to upgrade the system?

Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
(NB: PowerPC applications can still be run in Snow Leopard using Rosetta, but they will not work in later versions of OS X. For detailed information see this user tip:  https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6271 )
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is still available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Before installation you should back up all your data.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard to bring it up to 10.6.8, or download the combo update from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Check via Software Update whether any further updates are required, particularly to iTunes (you will need the latest version in order to synch with mobile devices).

  • What can be upgraded?

hello i have an iMac 27inch mid 2010 model,
i was wondering what can i upgrade on my mac.
can i only upgrade the ram?
what is the highest ram i can put in?
can you upgrade the intel icore or the graphics card?
what is the best company for the stuff?
i only like safe and easy things, i don't want to be spending more than £100 but please suggest every thing that I can upgrade and the highest I can upgrade it to.

i only like safe and easy things,
Then all you should try upgrading is RAM. It is the only part of a 2010 iMac that Apple designed as user-serviceable.
Upgrading RAM is quite easy. Last month my 12-year old grandson--who had never serviced a computer before--successfully upgraded the RAM in his Grandmother's iMac with a minimum of assistance from Grandfather (me).
Nice instructional videos on RAM replacement here:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/imac_mid_2010_mem/
Any other service requires special tools for the removal of the display cover and deal with a lot of "fiddly bits."
You have four RAM slots. If nothing has yet been upgraded, you have two slots filled, usually with two 2GB modules. You can leave these in place and add RAM to the two empty slots. My 2010 iMac shipped with 4GB RAM---two 2GB modules. Later I added two 4GB modules and now have a total of 12GB. You want to arrange the modules so that those of the same size sit side-by-side. Here are how my iMac RAM configuration looks today showing the side-by-side arrangement:
Your location will affect RAM prices. If you are in the US, US$100 (about 60 pounds) will buy you two 4GB modules.

  • How can I upgrade from tiger 10.4.11 to Lion?

i have a Macbook and its running tiger 10.4.11, how can i upgrade it to Mac os x lion ?

You have to check to see your MacBook meets the hardware requirements: at least a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7, or Xeon processor, 2 Gb memory, though 4 GB is much better and at least 7 GB free hard drive space.
Thhen you need to buy Snow Leopard, 10.6, and install and upgrade to at least 10.6.6, then purchase from the app store Lion, 10.7 and install.
