Can I upgrade my processor on dv6835nr laptop

my laptop is 5 years old and I love it! Last July, the hard drive crashed; I replaced it, and reinstalled Vista OS.  Later upgraded to Windows 7..now I find it takes longer to "open" anything. How can I tell if I need to update or upgrade any other components?  processor: Intel 2 Duo CPU, T5550 @ l.83 Ghz...32 bit, 3 GB RAM.  Thanks for any help

Hi:
It would be hard for me to say if upgrading the processor will make a significant difference in performance.
I have never installed a processor in a notebook PC myself, so I cannot give you any first hand tips.
The information to remove and replace the processor can be found in the service manual.
You cannot upgrade the video adapter.
You can upgrade the memory, but there wouldn't be much improvement there because your notebook has 3 GB already, to just replace the 1 GB chip with a 2 GB chip.
In order to really go beyond that, you would have to puchase a 64 bit operating system, and install 2 x 4 GB of memory which the memory alone would cost over $200.00.
As far as the newer BIOS, it is possible the notebook automatically updated it once after you got it.

You could upgrade but since your in the same family processor your not gong to get any gains with the upgrade. Stick with your current processor.

  • Can I upgrade the processor on my laptop? If so, what processors are compatible for my system?

I have an HP Pavillion dv6-2150us, which runs an Intel Core i3 @ 2.13 GHz, 8 GB RAM and Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.  Can I upgrade this processor and if so, what processors are compatible to this system?

First think about memory and an SSD drive. Laptop processor upgrades are a big hassle and not cheap.

    Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02642701.pdf
Supported processors can be found in chapter 1, pages 1 & 2.
Part numbers for processors can be found in chapter 3.
Enter the part number in the box at the link below and you can see what HP charges for them.

  • Can I upgrade the processor?

Hi everyone!  I got in a bind a while back and had to get a PC fast. What I ended getting was HP Pavilion 23-g011 All-in-One. When I got it I thought it was okay, but as i started to work I realized its limits. I guess it has a 1.3ghz processor, which seems to be the only real issue with it, as far as i can tell. My question is, can I upgrade this processor? I've heard different things. Some say yes, others say no.  I really don't know much about this stuff, but I'm hoping someone can help me out here. Thanks!

I am sorry, but apparently the proccessor is soldered to the motherboard of the computer, so you can't upgrade it. All-in-one computers aren't designed for being upgrades (i have a pavilion 20 b010 with a 1.48GHz proccessor) and I wouldn't really have a problem with the "no upgrade" thing if the proccessors weren't so terrible! I feel you, I do alot of gaming and have to run them at like 5 fps. So to summarize it all up, you cant upgrade it.

  • Can You Upgrade the Processor in a Lenovo B570 Laptop?

I've gotten all sorts of mixed answers, so I'm going to ask directly here at Lenovo: Can I upgrade my B570 from a Pentium B950 2.10GHz Dual core? And if so, what processors are compatible with my motherboard?

I did it! I didn't think it was possible! I sucessfully upgraded my B570 from an intel core i3 2350m to a core i7 2720m. Even though one is 35 watt and the other is 45 watt, it still worked. The i7 is running hotter but nothing horribly bad.  50C to near 70 C.  I followed a take apart youtube video. It's sort of complex because the CPU is on the upper side of the motherboard. I only had 1 screw left over!! YAY!  Everything appears to be working fine. My WIFI wasn't working at first but I went back in and reset the bios to default settings and reset comptuer and bam now it's working.  The speed increase wasn't at all what I had expected.  I just upgraded my ram from 4 GB to 8 GB a few days back and that actually provided the biggest speed boost of all.
So it CAN be DONE as long as you get a core i3, i5, i7 series that starts with a 2*** (sandy bridge). I also used the long parts manual provided by lenovo in order to find a chip compatable with my b570 system. They list a number of chips. I bought the next to the most fastest they had listed because the price ot the BEST one just wasn't worth the cost.
    AGAIN...it does WORK!

  • Can I upgrade my processor and graphics card in my HP Pavilion g6-2244sa Notebook PC?

Hi I bought this laptop 2 years ago for gaming purposes and school work. I was told by the shop assistant that it can run most fo your big games such as Call Of Duty and FIFA. Well frankly i was lied to and this laptop struggles to even play the simplest game Minecraft a game about pixelated blocks that you destroy and place and this can't even run it I am very annoyed about this and seeing if i can upgrade the machine never crossed my mind until now. So i am asking to see if it would be possible to upgrade the Hardware of this machine mainly the processor and graphics card, here are the specs of my laptop:
Processor- AMD E2-1800 APU w/ Radeon HD graphics (2CPUs) (1.80)GHz
Graphics Card - AMD Radeon HD 7340G
    RAM - 8Gb
    Memory - 1Tb
Now I am wondering if this machine's processor and graphic's card can be upgraded and if so what would be the price of it and where would be the best place and if the cost is too much would i be better off buying a new machine?
If you need more specs reply with the ones you need and i'll get them for you thank you for the help!

Put this way if that system isn't costing you 2,000US or more then it will not play Call Of Duty and FIFA regardless of what the store sales person says. To play those games your laptop has to fall into the catgory called "Gaming Laptop" Specs and those come with cost and weight to show for it. Your laptop is only good at low games resolution and will not handle graphics intensive games. Those requires Gaming Laptop specs those cost money to be had. So if you still want to Game COD style you need to put down the cash for serious Game Laptop to perform under pressure. Forget about upgrading your current system what you want is a Serious Gaming Laptop if your going to play COD.

  • Can I upgrade my processor?

I'm trying to Make my laptop faster by adding RAM to it (currently has 4 GB but goes up to 8 GB), but I also know that you need to balance it out with a good processor. I need to know if my processor can be upgraded to a better processor. I'm hoping one that can go up to 3.0 GHz. My current processor's specs are: AMD A6-5200 APU with Radeon HD Graphics 2.00 GHz (according to PC Info) I already know what type of RAM to get, so I only need to know about the processor. Any help is appreciated.

The simple answer to your question is No. Let me explain. Here is the Manual: Service Manual See page 18. Not only is the A6-5200 the top processor offered on that model, the processor is soldered to the motherboard so it cannot be removed in any event.  You are on the right track with upgrading to 8 gigs of RAM. That will help. But in 2015 the way to best speed up a computer is not the processor, but the hard drive. Replace the mechanical hard drive with a solid state drive. See page 53 for replacement instructions.  RIght now you have a pokey 5400 rpm 500 gig hard drive. A 500 gig Solid State Drive is about $175 now; probably less than you would have paid for a processor upgrade. You can get a 250 gig SSD for less than $100 and that is big enough for most people. If you have never used a computer with a solid state drive all I can say is you have to try it. Boot times are reduced to a few seconds, and programs pop open. No more waiting for the hard drive to catch up. And the replacement is entirely end user accessible. Very easy to do unlike a processor upgrade which requires an experienced technician.  Let us know if there are any other questions. If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

    Hi:
Unfortunately in most of today's notebooks (including yours), the graphics cannot be upgraded.
I looked at the service manual for your notebook, and there aren't even any other motherboards with better graphics available.
You can try the latest drivers from AMD to see if that helps, any but you can't do anything with the hardware.

  • Can you upgrade the processor in a Presario CQ62-210us

I just bought a compaq presario cq62-210us, and I didn't realize that it had a single core celeron 900 processor, so what I was wondering is if it is possible to upgrade to a dual core processor.
I know that it is hard to upgrade the processor on laptops, but is there a specific chip that would fit in this model? If not, then is there a simuilar model that has the same internal  configuration, that I could just switch the processor with the model I currently have?
    Thank you.

  • Power PC G5 - can I upgrade the processor?

    Hello,
I have had my G5 since 2004, I love it. I have only ever had to upgrade the memory in the years I have had it. However, now that the processor is no longer used I can not upgrade the OS any further and many new programs both Apple and other will not work with my computer. So... I face a dilemma, I see no reason to get rid of a perfectly working computer. I would like to see if it is possible to just upgrade some parts. If so do I need to go to the Apple store, or can I find a savvy computer guy to just fix my compie up?
    Thank you!

Hi kpdub, and a warm welcome to the forums!
You can't upgrade the CPU, but you can upgrade the OS to 10.5.8.
    Leopard requirements/10.5.x...
    * Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor
    minimum system requirements
    * 512MB of memory (I say 2GB at least)
    * DVD drive for installation
    * 9GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
You have to call Apple &likely ask for a Product Specialist to get it, if they still have it!

  • Can you upgrade PowerPC processor to an Intel Processor in iBook G4?

I was wondering whether you could upgrade the processor in an iBook G4 to an Intel processor as I need an Intel processor to sync my iPhone 4 to iTunes and update adobe flash player and I dont want to upgrade to a more newer MacBook as I do not have the money at the moment and if you could update the processor to an Intel processor where could I get it done?
    I have an iBook G4
Running Mac OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger)
    12 inch
    With a PowerPC processor

    No such upgrades are possible.
On portable machines, generally the processor (which is the part that makes it PPC or Intel) is part of the logic board and these boards are very expensive. Even if they were available, the cost would be too high to justify and the rest of the hardware would be too old to keep up with the new board - so you'd be looking at a lot more money to get this machine up to spec (if it were an option).
Time to consider buying a new machine
