Can I upgrade Photoshop CS directly to CS4?

I am currently using Adobe Photoshop CS and I have an offer to get CS4 upgrade but I'm worried it the upgrade is possible. I was not able to find the answer to this question on Adobe Forums.

Even if a user were to buy a legitimate new old stock Ps CS4 upgrade, then upgrade again somehow to Ps CS6 (again, this upgrade is not currently offered by Adobe), the cost would be on the order of $400+, and of course a full perpetual license is hundreds of dollars even more than that.  It's worth carefully considering all the literally YEARS one could maintain a subscription for the same money.  And with that you'd be using the latest software, kept compatible with the latest operating systems.

Buy the current version, or rather subscribe to it. There hasn't been a reduced price upgrade for more than a decade.

  • Upgrade photoshop 5.5 to CS4 possible?

I have a new iMac and can't install OS9 on it and therefore can not install photoshop 5.5 on it. i was told that if i have the seriel number of photoshop 5.5 that i could install the upgrade to CS4. How can that be if I don't have photoshop 5.5 on the computer?

    nilk,
    >i also like the image ready part to do animations.
Well, unfortunately, ImageReady was dropped after CS2. Fireworks fills that role now.
(And, no, I don't think you can run your original version of ImageReady on your new iMac.)
For Elements features, again, check out the Adobe store. And you should ask any followup questions in the Photoshop Elements forum.

  • Can I Upgrade Photoshop Elements 4.0, Premiere Elements 2.0 and DW CS3??

I have to upgrade my PC from Windows XT to Windows 8.1.
The computer checks say my existing Adobe programs are not compatible with Windows 8.1.
It is possible to upgrade Photoshop Elements 4.0, Premiere Elements 2.0 and Dreamweaver CS3?
    Thanks

You can upgrade to Elements 12 from any previous version.  Just purchase the version you require from either the Adobe website or a store of your choice as either individual programs or as a bundle.

The latest version of Dreamweaver is subscription only however with prices starting at $19.99 per month.

A quick check on the internet however has indicated that Dreamweaver CS3 will run Windows 8.

  • Can I upgrade Photoshop CS5 to CS6 separately instead of having to upgrade my entire creative suite?

I have the CS5 design premium suite but I do not wish to pay 600 plus dollars for the whole upgrade, I would only like to pay the 200 dollars to upgrade photoshop.
FYI (I am not eligible for the free upgrade because I purchased CS5 when it came out)

No. Suites can only be upgraded as a whole.

  • I have Design Premium CS5, but can I upgrade Photoshop ONLY to CS6?

Like I stated, I have Adobe Design Premium CS5. I don't use the other programs as often as I use Photoshop, so is it possible for me to upgrade Photoshop only to CS6? Or do I have to purchase Design Premium CS6 in order to upgrade?
    Thank you for your time!

NO. Suites can only be upgraded to suites. A standalone upgrade would simply not accept the serial number.

  • Can I upgrade from CS3 directly to CS5 or 5.5?

Or do I need to buy CS4?

Not sure which product you have (suite or standalone), but they all have different upgrade prices depending on which version you already own. You can upgrade directly from CS3 to CS5. It'll be more expensive than the CS4 to CS5 upgrade, but cheaper than upgrading to CS4 first, then to CS5. The last option would assume that you can even find a copy of CS4 to purchase.

  • Can I upgrade Photoshop CS6 from standard to extended without reinstalling?

    Hello,
I have Photoshop CS6 Standard already installed on my Mac (OS 10.8). My employer has just purchased the extended version for me and I would like to upgrade. I have a valid serial number to do this.
I understand that the software is the same and depending on the serial number it can unlock the extended portion of CS6. Is there any way of upgrading the installed version to extended by re-intering the new serial number or should I just install a second copy of PS CS6 and have 2 PS CS6 (one standard and one extended)?
    Any suggestions would be helpful.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Please follow the below mentioned steps:
    Open Photoshop
    Choose Help > Deactivate
Select Deactivate Permanently from this computer after deactivation completes
    Click Deactivate.
Reopen Photoshop. You are prompted for a serial number. Enter the Extended serial number.
    Regards,

  • I'm on a slow internet connection can I download photoshop cc directly at another location to install?

Hi I'm trying to get photoshop installed on a computer at a location with slow internet and it's taking way too long. Can I download it somehow when I'm at another location to install here? I can't seem to find anything about that?

...and the monthly is supposed to be 30 days? Not many times a day? I will do the annual next time, but had no idea I was going to have extra issues by paying monthly. Logically I'd expect an annual payment to keep Photoshop authenticated for 364 days as long as it is the same computer. Why 99 days? Can I switch midstream?
I won't mention what I'd really like is to go back to perpetual licenses That is the correct answer IMO, but Adobe has spoken. Notice I said that with a smile.
I have no local network to deal with, just the computer I use directly connected to a router alone. I am the business; my staff of 5 or 6 and myself that is. Our network involves yelling hey (fill in the name) across the office. I gave up the corporate grind 28 years ago.
It's been fine for the last few tries after having issues as often as three or four times an hour last week. No changes have been made between when it was really problematic and now that it seems to be OK. Could it be an incompatibility with some other software? It does seem random and I've seen this off and on for two years. I had the full boat CC for the first year and this same thing happened inexplicably every few weeks. Seems to be related to updates to the actual CC utility, but I'm no techie, I shoot photo's and market products.
For now it's OK as I'll just use the copy of 6 I own in the field.
Thanks so much for staying with this. I'm good and you can close this out.

  • Can't upgrade Photoshop Elements 9.0 to ANYTHING: unable to open Canon CR2 Raw files

I will start this post w/ the comment that I am completely fed-up with Adobe, and am not surprised at the troubles its having considering how completely **** it's ancillary services on its products are. Outside of the actual editing capabilities of their software (the only reason I and most people use their software) they have bungled UI, design, updates, and product support.
    On to my issue.
I have a Mac, I have OSX 10.9.4 installed, I also own a copy of Photoshop elements. I recently wiped and reinstalled my OS, and thus reinstalled Photoshop Elements 9.0.
It doesn't support Canon .cr2 files, Canon Raw image files. I have wasted nearly 2 hours running in circles, and registering for every ******* stupid adobe mailing list, and cloud product, forum ID, that exists, all at adobes insistence without getting any sort of answer.
    1. There is no update function. The menu item HELP>UPDATE ... DOES NOT EXIST, every update must be done manually.
    2. I can't download and install any of the most recent Camera RAW plugins because they require the most update version of PSE9.0.
    3. I manually downloaded both update 9.0.2 and 9.0.3 and was required to download two additional pieces of Adobe software, which at best are useless, and at worst are malware the cloud services OSX plugin, and the Adobe App and Install Manager.
    4. When I run either update patch, I get the error message "This update is not applicable for you" and then information to contact customer support, which then circuitously and deviously reroutes me through a series of stupid questions.
    5. Ultimately I came here and have searched the forums and don't have an answer to my question yet.
    Questions.
    1. Why can't I install updates 9.0.2 or 9.0.3 to my PSE 9.0 for Mac OSX
    2. I don't give a f#*K about the updates, I just want to open canon RAW CR2 files.
I wish someone else produced even moderately decent photo editing software, I'd rid myself of adobe.

The raw files from the 5D should open OK but the files from the EOS-M require PSE11 or PSE12. Alternatively, download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files from the EOS-M to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.6
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.6
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Can I upgrade Photoshop CS 8.0 to run on OS X 10.6 NOT IN CLOUD?

I have a 2003 DVD Photoshop CS for Mac v. 8.0. I have run it on my Mac G4. I would like to run Photoshop on my iMac OS X 10.6, but I want to upgrade on my iMac, not in the Cloud. Is this possible? If so, how much would the upgrade cost?

No, there is no upgrade for Photoshop CS. It is far too old and out of any upgrade cycle.
You will be able to install Photoshop on your iMac OS X 10.6 but not your CS version 8.0.
Adobe shut down the activation server for CS2 (and older versions) a few years ago so even if you install your CS version, you will not be able to activate it.
Adobe has made available a non-activation version of CS2 (also applies to CS owners).
Error: Activation Server Unavailable | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3
Download CS2 (CS is no longer available) from the above link and use the new non-activation serial number provided at that link. Your existing serial number will no longer work.
