Yes. Unlike Photoshop, you can upgrade to LR4 from any previous version of Lightroom (at the moment).

Thankfully Lightroom and Photoshop have different upgrading policies at the moment.
Good question. Adobe seems to take great pleasure in making customer buying/upgrading decisions as tricky as possible with lots of gotchas. It's often easier to buy a car or a house!

i currently have a 2207 iMac and I'm running tiger. I had an iPod classic which synced up beautifully but it has just died. iPod touch's are the only things that are on the market now as classic are no more. I've been told that an iPod touch won't qork on tiger operating system and I need to get snow lWoodard. Can I upgrade straight to snow leopard or do I need to get leopard first? Also will the new iPod touches work with snow leopard? Many thanks, please help me as I keep getting different answers. Ben

And the only way to figure that out would be verifying my disk using the Disk Utility?
Thank you for that. If I am not missing out on anything by skipping Lion then that will be my option. A few extra dollars in my pocket is always a good thing.

• Can I upgrade straight from 3.0.19 to 3.6.10 without losing bookmarks, history etc

Can I upgrade straight from 3.0.19 to 3.6.10 without losing bookmarks, history etc? I can't afford to lose all of these as they are work-related.

All your bookmarks history etc... is stored in your user profile on your pc, not in the install directory of firefox so when you install a newer version it only over writes the files in its install directory and not your bookmarks etc...
There is also some add-ons that can backup all your user data so that you can restore them later.
or
If you want to be safe you can manually backup your profile before you begin the upgrade.
On Windows Vista or 7 you will find your profile at;
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<random-generated-profile-name>.default
On XP I believe it is at;
C:\Document and settings\<username>\Application Data\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<random-generated-profile-name>.default
Just copy the contents of the above folder to somewhere else on your hard drive and if your bookmarks didn't copy over then you can manually place the files back into the above directory.

Hi Aaron, should work if it meets these requirements...
System requirements
Supported Computers:[2]PowerMac G3, G4, early PowerMac G5, iMac, eMac, PowerBook G3 orG4, or iBook computer
Amount of RAM Required: 128 megabytes (MB) (Although 256 MB to 512 MB is highly recommended by many people who have used Mac OS X v10.2.8 as the real amount of RAM used when only the Operating System is running is around 200 MB, but it can be run with as low as 96 MB) although it will not run at full speed.
Processor Type: PowerPC G3, G4 or G5 running at 233 MHz or higher.

• HT1338 can I upgrade straight to lion without purchasing snow leopard if I am running on OS 10.5.8

can I upgrade straight to lion without purchasing snow leopard if I am running on OS 10.5.8?

Well, yes, if your Mac meets the requirements, you can afford to erase the drive completely, & don't mind paying $10 more for Lion on a Flash stick than Snow Leopard/10.6 on DVD & Lion/10.7 download from the App Store is.
Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
General requirements
* Mac computer with an Intel processor
* 1GB of memory (I say 2GB at least)
* 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
* DVD drive for installation
* Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
* Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...
http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/
It looks like they do still have it:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDAzOA
If it's a core Duo & not a Core2Duo, then it'll only run in 32 bit mode.
Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
Lion/101.7 System requirements
• x86-64 processor (Macs with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Intel Core i3, Intel Core i5, Intel Core i7, or Xeon processor.)
•    At least 2GB of memory, (I say 4GB)
• Latest version of Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8), with the Mac App Store installed
• At least 4GB of disk space for downloading, (I say 40GB at least)
Like Snow Leopard, Lion does not support PowerPC-based Macs (e.g., Power Macs, PowerBooks, iBooks, iMacs (G3-G5), eMacs).
Lion also does not support 32-bit Intel Core Duo or Core Solo based Macs. Rosetta is no longer available in Lion, which means Lion no longer supports PowerPC applications.
Or, if you can afford to erase everything & spend $10 more than the 10.6 Disc & 10.7 from the App Store...
Or if you can erase your disk...

• Can I upgrade directly to 3.0 from 1.6 ?

Hi,
We are still running htmldb 1.6 , can we upgrade straight to 3.0 or do we have to go to 2.2 first ?
Thanks
Francis.

Hello Francis,
Upgrade from 1.6 to 3.0 is a major move. You should pay special attention to the installation requirements, and the PL/SQL Web Toolkit in particular - http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B32472_01/doc/install.300/b32468/pre_require.htm#BABGBJJD. Then you should follow the post-installation tasks, and the DAD configuration in particular, as there are some major changes between version 1.6 and version 3.0.
Regards,
Arie.

• HT201475 I am currently running OSX 10.6.8 on my MacBook Pro. Can I upgrade straight to Yosemite and if I can what issues will I face?

I am currently running OSX 10.6.8 on my MacBook Pro. Can I upgrade straight to Yosemite and if I can what issues will I face?

1. It depends on what Mac model you have. If it's incapable of running Yosemite, installing an intermediate version won't help with that.
2. You'll lose the ability to run PowerPC software, and some other programs may also be incompatible. If something goes wrong, you might lose data; back your computer up first. There aren't any issues specifically associated with skipping versions.

If it was officially unlocked by AT&T, it will remain unlocked during an upgrade of the iOS. If it was hacked to provide unlocking, it will most likely lock to the original carrier.

It's easy, but not that easy. You need to copy all the info from the drive currently in the mac to the new one before you install the new SSD. You can do this by downloading cloning software (I use CarbonCopyCloner because it's free)
Not to be picky but CCC is donationware, if you use it because of its quality you should send a little bit of money in appreciation, and as a bonus you get to turn the banner off.

• How can i upgrade my iphone 4 gsm from ios 4.2.1 to 6.1.3

any one can help me to upgrade from 4.2 to 6

You can only upgrade to the most recent, compatible version, in this case 7.0.6.
If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

Also read the instructions from the section entitled "Update your device using iTunes" at the link below.

• I can't upgrade my iPad 2 software from iOS 5.0.1 to iOS 5.1

Hi I wonder if anyone of you could help. I have an iPad 2 running iOS 5.0.1 and can't upgrade to iOS 5.1. The problem I am having is when I check for an update on my iPad it takes ages and then I get a message saying that it was unable to check for an update. Then when I tried to update it via my Mac its cant get passed the "contacting the iPad software update server..." had this message for half an hour now. I am assuming that apples servers are really full with everybody trying to update their iOS device. Is this the logical expenation and is anyone else having simular issues?
Thank You,
Richard Bray

After a few tries on Thursday, March 8, I was able to update my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.1 using iTunes on my PC. However, when I next tried to update my iPad, I had the same error response about not being able to contact the update server.
After disconnecting all my USB devices and rebooting the PC several times, I gave up. Tried again on Saturday, March 10, and was finally able connect after several more unsuccessful attempts. Don't know if it was really necessary, but after I turned off both my Norton Smart Firewall and Anti-Virus Autoprotect, I finally got a connection.
I remember having similar hassles downloading iCloud and getting it working with the Apple mail servers.
I wish Apple could communicate better when the servers are jammed. The web page I was sent to when I clicked "More Information" in the window notifying me that the server connection failed, doesn't mention the possibility that the servers are jammed and we should just wait a few days and try again.

• Hi There, i have a power mac g5, which has the following spec, can i upgrade straight from 10.5.8 to 10.7? or do i have to purchase 10.6 first?;

Hardware Overview:
Model Name:          Power Mac G5
Model Identifier:          PowerMac7,3
Processor Name:          PowerPC G5  (3.1)
Processor Speed:          2.7 GHz
Number Of CPUs:          2
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory:          4 GB
Bus Speed:          1.35 GHz
Boot ROM Version:          5.2.4f1
Hardware UUID:          00000000-0000-1000-8000-000D9379499E

Lion won't boot or install if there isn't EFI or UEFI firmware.
You can focus on Intel side because that is simple and easier (though because some early "Core Duo" models are cut off from 10.7 and only Core2Duo and above are supported).
There is no firmware support. The logicboard can't. There is no PowerPC code in Lion, which was the heart of the G5 kernel.
Lion integrates the iPad and other iOS devices with the desktop and iCloud along with Apple's AppStore. There is a lot of 'something' and what value or benefit it offers to the traditional desktop OS, I think the jury will have to decide.
But 10.4.11 may also be the most optimized Apple OS for the PowerMac platform.
Excellent value on Apple refurbished equipment -
