Can i upgrade the gpu of imac 21 2012late?

Hi guys i have iMac 21inch  2012 late (that with very slim edges)
It has i5 2,7GHz and gt640m vith 512mb of vram.
Im teen and im playing all those modern dx11 games (ive bootcamped it on win7 64bit)
For example i can run bf3 full HD on almost everything medium but next gen game like assassins creed4 i can run 900p lowest on 30fps with lags
that 30 fps wont be problem but those lags every1 second
I want better gpu but not that gt750m that nothing for me i want to fill it up with gtx 970m or 980m
Last year i saw 27inch one with gtx 780m so is it possile to have this kinda gpus in 21 inch
Will the power supply be OK or i must hvae better powersupply
Can i wire in somehow better powersupply?
can i wire in gtx 970 or980 deskyop versions to my imac via thunderbolt I/O port with that 100pound box

The graphics processor is soldered on the logic board and is not upgradeable.  To do so would require desoldering the GPU and replace it with another, assuming the pins of the two match perfectly.

can one upgrade the graphic card in an Imac (intel based)?

While anything is theoretically possible, you would need to find another GPU that is compatible with your specific model iMac, and you would need to modify OS X to use a driver appropriate for whatever you propose to install. Future OS X updates would break it in short order. Not only that, you'd void whatever warranty that remains. It's not worth it.

There is nothing to do, unless you buy a new computer.
Mac OS 10.5.8 or later is required.

If they are the grey discs which came with the iMac, then they will be machine specific and will not work on the MBP anyway. You will need to purchase a retail copy of Snow Leopard from the Apple Store for about $29 and upgrade from that. I presume your MBP is Intel and not G4.

  • Satellite C650-1CP - Is it possible to upgrade the GPU?

    Hi
I just wanted to ask a question about my graphics card in regards to gaming.
I just recently found out that integrated graphics chips arent that good for gaming so i done a little reading into the subject and found something saying that there is a possibility that you can send the laptop to the manufacturer and purchase a chip upgrade or pay to get a better one installed.
Is this possible? and if it is, what sort of price would you be looking at. My laptop is a C650-1CP as i said in the title.
    Thanks

    Hi
No, this is definitely not possible.
There are plenty of threads about this theme and GPU (graphic card) upgrade is definitely NOT possible.

  • Upgrading the GPU, CPU and RAM of my Laptop n201ax

This maybe is a really long post but please answer because i really need answers for each one of these questions and i really want to upgrade my laptop to the best configuration If i Can.Let me make this clear first.* In the upcoming content the words "this laptop" always refers to Hp Pavilion 15-n201ax*
Okay so first of all i read somewhere that the maximum Ram of this laptop can be expanded till 16gb but the i came up with this link here -http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Hardware-Upgrades-Replacements/I-would-like-to-upgrade-memory-of-my-laptop-HP-15-n201ax/td-p/5146905 And then i came to know that it can only be upgraded to 12gb by reading Page #2 Chapter 1 Description of this Guide-http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04438537.pdfFirst of all i would like to ask is that, 1. Can i buy a ram of any brand but ofc the same clock speed ie 1600mhz?, so can i go for the GSkill 4gb 1600Mhz DDR3 ram?2. Does the size matter to the respective slots? or i can install the 8gb and 4gb ram in any alternate slots? So this was all about the RAM But i need to know if i can change the discrete GPU and APU of this laptop3. And if Yes - Which are the compatible mobile GPU's that i can install by removing the previous one ie AMD 8600M (For example the R9, R7 and R5 Laptop graphics)4. And Which are the compatible APU's that i can install by removing the previous APU ie AMD A10-4655M APU (For example the AMD FX APU for Laptops)5. If i can upgrade the GPU and APU both please tell that does the compatibility matters? like only a specific GPU can work with a specific APU ie like in this laptop AMD A10-4655M APU + AMD 8600M GPU. Please Help Me out, Please. Thanks in advance.

Pavilion 15-n201ax? We are going to need to refer to the Service Manual here: Your Service Manual Officially, it only supports 12 gigs. Your model has a single 8 gig module so you have an open slot. Unofficially, may users here have reported that adding another 8 gigs to make a total of 16 gigs will work fine. But that is something you take the risk of doing, since it is unofficial.  The part numbers for the proper memory are listed on page 42. You need DDR3L-1600 SO-DIMM.  If you are going to go official, the 4 gig module is:   691740-001 This is it on amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/HP-691740-001-1600MHz-PC3L-12800-memory/dp/B00CI08FX4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1437948185&sr=8-1&keywords=691740-001 You should just leave the 8 gig where it is and add the new memory in the open slot.  On your model laptop, the GPU/APU is soldered to the motherboard. In order to do any upgrade you would need to buy a new motherboard. You have a whole incorrect idea that the GPU/APU can be removed and replaced and this is incorrect. The term APU means a processor that has video built in so the whole question about compatibility between GPUs and APUs just misses the mark. On some systems the GPU/APU is socketed and can be replaced which serves to replace/upgrade both the processor and video function but as stated above, on yours this involves pulling and replacing the whole motherboard.  There is a slightly better processor/graphics available using the AMD A10-5745M 8670M (2.9 GHz/2.1 GHz, 2 GB L2, 1333MHz DDR3L Quad 25W) for use with Windows Standard. The motherboard part is 734824-501 HP does not stock the board but I found this online: http://www.discounteddealz.com/product.asp?itemid=327740&gclid=CO78y6rn-cYCFQmCaQodOP0GLQ Never heard of this seller and can't vouch but the price is very reasonable for that board. I expected it to be quite a bit more which makes me wonder about this seller a bit. I would advise keeping what you have. It is very strong for AMD and upgrading to the A10-5745 board will only result in a very small uptick in performance at a very high cost in money and effort.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it. Hey sorry but i should have mentioned this before, I live in India and the links you provided are for amazon.comi tried to search on amazon.in and eneded up with this http://www.amazon.in/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=HP+691740-001+4GB%2C+1600MHz%2C+PC3L-12800+DDR3L+DIMM&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3AHP+691740-001+4GB\c+1600MHz\c+PC3L-12800+DDR3L+DIMM Instead, can i get this one ? beacuse the hp one on the above result costs 41% more than the Transcend one below and that's very much http://www.amazon.in/Transcend-4GB-DDR3L-1600-LAPTOP/dp/B00B5LOOJG/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1437984575&sr=1-2&keywords=ddr3l+4gb+1600mhz And last thing is that Will the performance be better if i go for Ram branks like Corsair or GSkill same types of memory?

I just bought my macbook pro 13 inch mid 2012. I am wondering can i upgrade the graphic card to NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M discrete processor with up to 1GB of video memory?

Nope - you're stuck with the Intel 4000. If you wanted a higher-performance GPU, you should have bought a 15".

    Appareently you need OS 10.7
    My Imac is 10.5.8

Read the system specifications on the MTP's box, it says:
    System Requirements
    Bluetooth-enabled Mac computer
    Two AA batteries (included)
OS X Snow Leopard v10.6.4 or later
Here are the System Requirements for Snow Leopard, if your system meets or exceeds them then  yes you can update your computer. Snow Leopard is still available from Apple's online store for $29.
    System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel processor
    1GB of memory
    5GB of available disk space
    DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.

I have a MacBookPro5,1 using OSX 10.6.8 can I upgrade the OSX to 10.7 in order to use Norton Multi-Device?

You can upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion.
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
            3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
             7. Xserve (Early 2009)
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.

  • L750: Can I upgrade the 1366x768 screen to a 1920x1080 screen?

My Satellite L750 computer has a 1366x768 screen. It also has a GPU called: Intel HD Graphics 2000 (device id 0106). The max resolution should be 2560x1600 (https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/quick-reference-guide-to-2nd-generation-intel-core-processor-graphics-hd-graphics)  I also note that I can connect an external screen of 1920x1080 with no problem. Now the question: Can I upgrade the 1366x768 screen to a 1920x1080 screen?

That is not true. As a matter of fact I bought such a screen. I wrote about that experience here: http://www.emagnusandersson.com/Upgrade_laptop_screen_to_FHD

You need to download it on one of the iMacs via App store but not install since after it installs the installation download gets deleted.
After it is downloaded you can copy to a USB device. You can also make a bootable USB install device by:

  • Can you upgrade the Apple MacBook MB466LL/A to 8gb ram

can you upgrade the Apple MacBook MB466LL/A to 8gb ram

Apple only tests the MacBook with the RAM that's affordable at the time of manufacture. At that time 4gb RAM sticks ran about $400 each. Once they've tested them they never go back as the RAM drops in price since they're on to the next model by then.
So (Apple) means what they first tested the MacBook at. (Actual) means how much RAM the MacBook is capable of handling.

  • Can I upgrade the OSX V 10.7 Lion to another operational system without risc to lose the instaled programs?

How can I upgrade the Mac OS X 10.7.5 to better operational system?

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and try downloading Yosemite from the Mac App Store. If you get told that it's incompatible, your computer can't be upgraded past 10.7.5.
Upgrading the OS always carries the risk of losing data that hasn't been backed up. It isn't possible to foresee all problems associated with this.
