To open an iPhoto 7.1.x version in iPhoto '11 you need to run the iPhoto Library Upgrader. See this Support document:
iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrade
Download and install the upgrader, then run it on your iPhoto 7.1.5 library. After that, iPhoto will be able to open your library and upgrade it to version 9.5.1. And you will be able to merge the libraries with if Library Manager. -

You should be able to select Force Quit from the menu beneath the Apple icon in Finder
and choose to Quit iPhoto from there, without messing up the Mac OS X in the process.

Not sure if rebuilding the iPhoto library would help this issue. However if you had to
turn off the computer without the correct method (unplug, etc; instead of menu choice)
the system may have accrued damages and should be checked, maybe repaired by
use of the Disk Utility in the system. Or restart the computer in Safe Boot mode, then
run 'repair disk permissions' while it is running in that reduced mode; then restart after.

Suggestions on how to use Safe Mode in article, to resolve issues, may be helpful.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Yes you can but it takes a lot of caution! You can have both application running their own library. But the problem comes in when you launch V5 into the last used library, a V6 library, and it can corrupt that library so it won't open in V6 again. Conversely, if you open V6 and the V5 library was the last to be opened and you don't pay attention, you'll convert it to a V6 and lose the V5 access.
So you have to make sure you ALWAYS launch iPhoto with the Option key depressed and manually select the library to use each time. Also Name each library differently. I use V6 LIbrary and V5 Library. You can rename your current one and then launch iPhoto with the Option key depressed and navigate to it to open it. -

Snow is Intel only. You could get Leopard 10.5 by purchasing a Retail (black) Disk off eBay or calling Apple Service and ordering one from them. That would allow you to run Safai 5 and iTunes 10, I believe, but would lose Classic support in the process.

I am running Mac OSx Lion 10.7.2.
My issue is that I am not able to run a search in the finder toolabar on a network server. No files show up nor does it search on the server anymore. I was able to run the search in snow-leopard and am no longer able to do so with Lion. Is there a preference I can change or some kind of app or program I can download that will help me with this issue? This is extremely problematic for me as I am searching for files all day everyday.
