Can I upgrade to the latest version of iTunes and iPod???
Over the past couple of months I have been reading horror stories of people who went from iTunes 6.- to 7 and after upgrading and proceeding to get the latest version of firmware for iPod their iPod has become a paperweight. Scrambled displays, backward text, etc. I am on a Mac system and have a 30 gig 5th generation iPod and have put off upgrading because I am afraid of losing my iPod. Can somebody tell me if it is safe to upgrade and if all the bugs have been ironed out? Secondly, can somebody tell me if it is possible to get the latest iPod firmware as a downloadable stand-alone installer? I still have a dial-up connection and cannot wait hours and tie up my line upgrading my iPod through iTunes. I would prefer to download the upgrades on a machine with a high-speed connection and burn them to CD and then install on my machine from that CD. Can anyone tell me if this is possible? Thanks so much for any input.

I was upgrading to the latest version of itunes, and my new ipad mini was connected to my computer at the same time, try to sync for the first time. The upgrade crashed part way through, and now itunes won't load and I get an error message saying MSVCR80.dll is missing. How do I do about reinstalling this file?
Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Library Duplicated
I just updated to the latest version of iTunes and it duplicated virtually every track in my library. I need a quick way to delete the duplicates. Sorting by "Date Added" will not work, because every track is listed as added on 12/12/2011 even though this happened today 12/19/2011.I've written a script called DeDuper which can help remove unwanted duplicates. Worked fine before upgraded of iTunesto the latest version now cannot sync iPod touch. error message is that will be wiped and replaced by library which is too big for the device so I have to wipe it and reinstall manually which takes at least four hours. Cannot backup as not able to in iTunes and do not haveiCloud. Use win7

What do you mean by: "The dates and times on both match."?
You are not telling use what you are doing and what happens when you do it. -
My Itunes stop playback of all in the TV section.
While waiting for a response from apple, I upgraded to the latest Itunes (10.7)
Now not only not playing back TV it now is giving me an error (-42404)
I would appreciate any insite into these issues.

i just bought ilife11 from a friend and tried to install it but it says I need to have 10.6 or later. I have 10.5.8. Can I upgrade to the latest version with a "download" ?

You need Snow Leopard before you can go to Lion...

Surely iTunes should be upgraded automatically? It always has in the past.
Typically a computer does not automatically update itself. This would be highly undesirable in my opinion. What if it was it started doing it just as you were going to do a presentation? I have never heard of iTunes automatically updating itself.

You can let Software Update do this if you wish.

No, you shouldn't but once a month somebody complains here than an update wiped their iTunes collection. Not sure I believe them since i don't see how it could do it, but you should always back up first.

Correct. An iPhone 5 requires iTunes 10.7
When I try to upgrade via iTunes, it tells me that I have the latest version.
Maybe it is the latest version your computer can run with the operrating system version you are using.

I can not dowload the new updated software for my Ipod touch 4G. When i do I get an error message that says Network connection has timed out. I have done the trouble shooting steps. Downloaded the latest version of Itunes, and checked network connection
Disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall during the download and update usually resolves the timeout error.

I have a new iPhone 4 which I cannot sync until I upgrade to the latest version of iTunes software (version 10.2.2). How do I get a solid color border?
