Can I upgrade to the OS X Mavericks?

I have recently purchased an early 2011 Macbook Pro 15" It has 10.6.8 installed on it, can I safely upgrade to the OS X Mavericks? Im a new Mac user, this is my first Mac. I purchased it online, refurbished, dont know if that matters or not. But I love it, so glad I made the switch.

Your computer does not meet the minimum system requirements. There isn't anything you are going to be able to do to get it to work. The lowest model that can run it is 5,1 you MacBook is too outdated to be able to run Mavericks.

If you have not previously purchased Mavericks from the Mac app store, then no. It is no longer available. Yosemite has the same system requirements as Mavericks and is a free upgrade from the app store.

I think not. You will need to order a disc from Apple quoting your serial number, as many of these discs are machine specific. So unless you can get your drive working I think you will have to take a trip to an Apple store.

You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

apart from what is already known ( upgrade to Sno,purchase Lion or walk into a Apple Store, ask for a USB drive .. ) you should make sure you can run Lion. Not every Intel Mac will run it, and you need 2GB of RAM.

You need Snow Leopard before you can go to Lion...

No to both of your questions:
No, you cannot clone the PPC hard disk to a new Intel disk. The systems are completely different.
No, you don't have to reinstall all your software manually.
You have to install Tiger from the install DVD that shipped with that MacBook Pro. You CANNOT use any other install disk, so take care you don't damage it! Once this is done you can transfer all your data, applications and settings from the old computer using the migration assistant in /Applications/Utilities.
Be aware that there might be problems with applications that are not universal binaries and require Rosetta emulation: Intel-based Mac: Some migrated applications may need to be updated.
