Can I upload 1 map for multiple dimensions, where? overwrite or append maps?

Hi When updating mappings:
1. I first export a file from the current account and entity dimension (2 separate maps) can I make all changes into one map? So multiple DIMNAMES:
ACCOUNT
ACCOUNT
ENTITY
ENTITY
in the same map? And then just upload that map to populate all dimensions? If so, what dimension do I load it in to? Does it not matter?
2. Another question, if I have unmapped members and have an export file that has all of those undefined members, can I make changes into that error file, and upload it back into the mappings? Will it overwrite the incorrect mappings?

Hi,
I guess this is because of the limitations in the attachment modes for an analytical workspace.
Theres in total three different modes. Read , Read/Write and read/write exclusive
In read mode many users can attach the AW at the same time and you can only read data.
In read/write you can modify/maintain the AW with other read users connected, but when you have the AW attached in this mode, noone else can attach it in read/write mode.
Read/write exclusive means that you are the only user that can attach the AW. All other users trying to attach will get an error.
What I guess the mappings try to do, is that it tries to attach the AW in read/write mode and come in conflict with each other. Therefor you can only run one mapping at a time.

Can't change sort settings for multiple items in iTunes 7.1

iTunes 7.1 introduces a great feature—the ability to set a separate Sort Name, Sort Artist, Sort Album, etc. This means that "Weird Al" Yankovic songs can finally appear down among the Y's instead of up at the top of every list, by changing the Sort Artist to Yankovic, Weird Al.
Unfortunately, this feature is fatally crippled in 7.1. As far as I can tell, you can only change the Sorting information on individual tracks. When you change the information for multiple tracks, the Sorting tab doesn't show up. This renders the feature all but useless.
Let's say (hypothetically) that your friend is an enormous nerd (in theory) and your friend has 139 "Weird Al" Yankovic tracks (for the purposes of this example only, of course). Instead of just selecting all these tracks at once and changing the Sort Artist to Yankovic, "Weird Al", I (I mean, he) has to retype this information for each individual track. That's crazy! Surely this must be a bug.

I just found the solution to this myself.
In a very un-Apple way, this is an undocumented feature only accessible by right- (or control-) clicking.
1. Change one track to your desired sort settings (for instance, set the Sort Artist to Yankovic, Weird Al.
2. Right-click on that track. In the contextual menu that appears, there is a new submenu called "Apply Sort Field." If you choose "Same Artist," it will apply your new sorting information to all your other tracks by "Weird Al" Yankovic (or, if you are not a huge nerd, any other artist you substitute).

I tried to use the concatenate function to combine the data for 1 row and it worked perfectly. I tried to do this for multiple rows and the function is greyed out. Layers problem: - how can I upload the PSD for analysis?

Hi all. Following one of my earlier questions, when several members gave me some great advice about layers, I've been experimenting.
Now, I have a PSD that I'd like advice on. It's 1.42MB. Can I upload it somewhere so that it can be examined on the forum?

It's because you have partial transparency at the edges of the kiss image. Probably from feathering or partially erasing it?
Turn off all the other layers to see this
If you take a history snapshot, before you feather it, you can paint back the pixels exactly where you want them with the history brush set to that snapshot
Background2 has no transparency so obscures any other layer beneath it! so when at the top you can't see through it, like a stack of plates?

Get Info..for multiple items where's THaT preference ?

The 1st few times I'd try to Get Info for multiple items , I'd get one window opened, and could make , say , 12 .aiffs open w/ iTunes rather then QuickTime. [ and even THaT seemed to change at the point of the latest iTunes/QTime upgrades...now QTime Pro is in charge ! ]
My point is : I like to get that one window for multiples, which used to come randomly, and not 12 seperate windows. Where DoeS one control that ?

Actually it's a function not a bug.... If you do GetInfo on more than 10 items it opens a "group" pane, otherwise it opens individual windows. Unless you want to count items the reliable way is to use Show Inspector instead (add the option key). I find Inspector more useful anyway, so changed the Keyboard shortcut to make Inspector the default of Command-I.

How can i fix a member for a dimension in the transformation file?

but it doesnt work, any idea?

The easiest way is to use the folloowing in the Transformation file:
Category = *newcol(Actual)

Deleting comments for multiple dimension member selection

Hi all,
When using the package (using /CPMB/CLEAR) to delete data and comments (TASK(/CPMB/CLEAR_COMMENTS_FOR_CLEAR,ENABLETASK,1)), there seems to be a problem to delete comments when using a multiple member selection. When selecting <all> or a single dimension member for a given dimension, data and comments are effectively deleted. However, when selecting eg 2 members, the data is deleted, but the comments remain in the comment tables. Any ideas on how to solve this, without running the package x-times when comments on x members need to be deleted?

How Can I set up Thunderbird for multiple email addresses

I am using Eudora 7 to handle 6 email accounts on a Windows XP SP3 machine. I want to install Thunderbird on the same machine and import the email addresses. I have Eudora setup to store the data files for each email address in a different data directory. This allows me to have a different icon on the desktop for each email account. Clicking on an icon starts Eudora with the email address data stored in a specific directory.
What I don't know is how to have Thunderbird import the different email addresses from Eudora to Thunderbird and how to keep the individual email address data separate in Thunderbird.
Any help would be appreciated.

I never used Eudora, so I can't tell much about it. In any case, I believe it's dead.
Wrt multiple accounts in Thunderbird, there isn't much you can do wrong. Simply run the new account wizard and set-up the accounts you want (one at a time).

Not if you want to be able to continue to make iTunes purchases too. You can lock out access to iTunes store using Restrictions (which always needs a passcode to change, Touch ID won't work for changing/removing Restrictions) but that means no one can use any of the restricted features.
iOS has no concept of multiple users with differing access levels like this. Touch ID stores multiple fingerprints, but they're supposed to be all from the same person, the device's owner, not multiple users.
You're going to have to buy your daughter her own iPhone... ;-)

Can't change "Open with" for multiple files

For some reason, all swfs on my computer won't open in the Flash player that came with Flash 9. If I select 1 swf and set it to open with the player, it will work, however, if I select multiple ones, get info and try to set them all to open in the player (or "Change All") I get a dialogue saying I don't "have privileges to change the application for these documents only. Do you want to change all similar documents to open with the application Flash Player.app?" This is rediculous because I could so this in Tiger just fine. Also, I'm the admin and i'm in MY account, so I should be able to do anything I want, right?
Any insights? I've repaired disk permissions by the way.

This is sometimes a problem with the launchservices database. You can try the following to fix it:
Rebuild LaunchServices Database
For Tiger users
Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt paste in the following command in its entirety:
/System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServic es.framework/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
Press RETURN.
For Leopard users
Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt paste in the following command in its entirety:
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
Press RETURN.
If this isn't successful then there may be other problems involved. You can try this:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger, and 4.1 for Leopard) and/or TechTool Pro (4.6.1 for Leopard) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
You can install the freeware preference pane, RCDefaultApp - VersionTracker or MacUpdate - which is useful for extensive control over various file associations.
