Can I upload a PDF image to the Book,  instead of a JPEF/RAW/TIFFs etc???

Hi,
I have an urgent question.
I have a high resolution Google Earth shot that I added a numeric guide to with illustrator for certain buildings etc.
The text that sits on top of the image is essential, and I saved it as a PDF.
I was hoping to have this PDF as a full page spread on one of the pages of the Aperture Book thing but it seemingly won't let me add a PDF file in the vault.
Does anyone know a way round this? Is it possible to have some of your images as PDFs? I'd rather do it this way instead of rasterizing it at 300dpi because PDFs still make the texts sharper and cleaner, no matter what resolution you save at sometimes.

as quick workaround you can alway take a shot of it by using the keyboard combination:
Shift + Command + 4
this will make the arrow turn into a bulls-eye so you can click drag your selection. this will make a photo of your selection as a .png and place it on the desktop
Is it possible to have some of your images as PDFs?
"File Formats You Can Import into the Library
Aperture is a QuickTime-compatible application, so it supports standard
QuickTime-compatible still-image file formats, as well as some other file formats
and file types. The following file types and formats can be imported:
"What Are Masters?
A digital master file, or master, is the original RAW, GIF, JPEG, JPEG2000, PSD (8 and 16bit), TIFF (8 and 16bit), DNG, or PNG file"
that said, you can import them either way but you might have trouble with them.
what I do is take a shot of it or find the source file and import it.
if you do import a .pdf - sometimes a .pdf will stall aperture and it'll see the .pdf as a corrupt image which you'll have to then find and delete from the library
I'd rather do it this way instead of rasterizing it at 300dpi because PDFs still make the texts sharper and cleaner, no matter what resolution you save at sometimes.
if it's not too much text maybe you can recreate it in the book or roundtrip the photo into an external editor like photoshop

  • How can I upload a PDF image with out it going grainy

i am trying to write an adobe form and I need to have the names of the authors at the bottom of the page in columns, It seems impossible to do this by entering the text into the box on the form as the spacing doesn't work. I  have made a PDF image of what I want to write but each time I upload it it becomes grainy. If I save it as a PNG or TIFF it is still grainy - even if I reduce the file size to the required number of pixels - please help me!

Please share your form with me ([email protected]) as a co-author. Also send me the image you are trying to add to you form.

  • Can not select a PDF file in the file uploader window after clicking the Browse... button for a file type input element.

After upgrading to 5 (this worked in 4) I can not select a PDF file in the File Upload dialog that appears when I click the Browse button next to an HTML file type input element. The specific HTML element source code has the attribute: ACCEPT="image/*". I can select image files such as jpg, png, tiff, etc. But not PDF. This worked great in Furefox 4 and works in the latest version of Safari.
The HTML code for the form element is:
    INPUT TYPE="file" NAME="file_1" ACCEPT="image/*" SIZE=35
The File Upload dialog lists all files with PDF extension as dimmed and not selectable in Firefox 5.
    Can you help?

    Hi Purush
Unfortunately we couldn't solve the problem. Our IT specialist checked it with SAP directly. SAP doesn't support the SAP KW solution anymore. Therefore we checked-in the document in ".doc"-Format.

  • Unable to display a PDF image on the page - Mac 10.6

    Hi,
Running an iMac with 10.6.8 and Indesign 5.0.4. Just wanting to export a PDF as per usual via File > Export function. However, I keep getting the error message, "Unable to display a PDF image on the page'. No idea what this is and have never seen this error before. The only info on the internet reveals error code 0x2511(9489).
I've deleted prefs, closed down and re-opened Indesign and even restarted the computer. I've also re-linked the images contained in the document and even created a new document and set it up the same, but still the same problem. Investigating further, other Indesign documents still export properly.
The only ones that don't export are 2 documents, both giving this same error message. Both documents are ones where a client has sent a PDF, I've imported into two of these into an 2-page A4 Indesign document (each PDF is 48MB each) and then just added a text layer (using Times) which is properly installed on the computer. I basically have to 'update' course dates for the client and add PDF to the website, all very basic.
I've tried importing a jpeg and other PDFs into the file (replacing the existing ones) and they export fine.
All my software is legal and I've exported this document before now in exactly the same File > Export without any problems (under 10.5 and 10.6).
OK... I've just imported the offending PDFs into Acrobat, optimized and shrunk the file size, re-imported back to Indesign and the PDF export works fine. So it seems InDesign / PDF Export doesn't like large imported PDFs? I think they were originally exported from Publisher, so maybe that's the problem or a file conflict somehow.
Any ideas on the culprit? I've googled it, searched these forums and Apple discussions and haven't found anything. Although I've found a workaround, I do get large files to import and then export. Thanks for any help
    Steve

It does sound like a problem with the original PDF files the client sent you. You can check how they were made in Acrobat Pro from the Additional MetaData button on the Description tab of the document properties dialog. It will be under Advanced at the bottom of the list when the metadata opens.
You might be able to salvage them by running the optimzer and not changing the size, or just doing a Save As in Acrobat.

  • I can't upload a pdf document in safari.

When I try to upload a .pdf through safari, the chooser window comes up, but all my pdfs are grey (can't select).  This is a new problem...as in, it didn't exist last week.  I'm sure this is something easy, but I just can't seem to figure it out.  Thanks, and sorry for what might be a dumb question.

  • How can I embed a pdf file into the body of an email?

How can I embed a pdf file into the body of an email?

The problem is defining what it even means to “embed” a PDF file in the body of an e-mail, especially if you are dealing with a multiple page PDF file.
E-mail is either pure text, rich text (something akin to RTF in Word), or HTML. PDF is not compatible with any of these. Thus, to embed a PDF file, something has to be converted and that means the PDF would be converted to a less graphically rich raster format. But is that what you would really want?
I think that the MacOS and iOS e-mail clients do under some circumstances place an attached PDF file within HTML segments and by clicking on same, you get the equivalent of extracting the full PDF file, but I have no real experience with that.
Another alternative is HTML with a proxy image with a hyperlink to an external PDF file that is invoked when you click on the hyperlink.
Perhaps you can explain what you are really trying to accomplish and what the recipient of such an e-mail's actual experience would be?

  • Can I store multiple bootable images in the same partition?

Can I store multiple bootable images in the same partition or do they each need their own partition? I am going to use disk utility to create a copy of my current OSX 10.5 system on a new external drive before upgrading to Snow Leopard. Then I want to create a bootable copy of Snow Leopard. Can I create one partion large enoough to hold both images or will I need to create a separate partition for each. I have done booting off of an external hard drive and it works well. I do not know how the system sees this and thus if I store both images on the same partition, will it give me both as a boot option at startup or will it see only one?

They will need separate partitions to be bootable

  • Is there any way to embed the pdf file in the book created in iBooks Author to make it available to be downloaded or sent to email? So that the user can print it out.

Is there any way to embed the pdf file in the book created in iBooks Author to make it available to be downloaded or sent to email?
I'm making the book for children and there is one chapter providing coloring pages. So I wish to attach pdf files that allow users to download it at the end of chapter so that  they can print it out. Been searching through discussion, I've found some advice about taking screen snapshot page-by-page > then send the pics from photo album to email. However, I'm wondering if there's a way that make the process easier.

Warehouse that PDF on your own server, then link to it from your book.

The RAW setting in Bridge is not working. When I open Bridge I can see only icons, no images. The RAW tool icon is grey, not active. I am going on a trip Tomorrow and I need Bridge to be working. It was working earlier.

I never notied that icon before, and I've been using Bridge for 7 years.
Usually, when you have no image previews for raw files, this means that your Camera Raw plug-in is older than your camera. People always come across this problem when they use a new camera with older software.
To be sure, we need to know which camera you are using, and which version of Camera Raw. To save typing this out for the three-thousandth time, please follow this page which I wrote earlier:
    http://yphotography.co.uk/articles/get-adobe-camera-raw-acr-open-photos/
This covers the subject, which is by far the most commonly asked question about opening raw files by a country mile.
If everything checks out fine, let us know. If not, give us more information and we may be able to fix this for you.
PS. Please just open one discussion per problem. There are three threads on this now. It makes it difficult to follow.

  • Can you have a PDF fit on the viewer's screen automatically when exporting from InDesign CS4?

Can you have a PDF fit on the viewer's screen automatically when exporting from InDesign CS4?

If you were to upgrade to InDesign CS5 or CS5.5 and if you exported as Adobe PDF (Interactive), you could set the View settings for Page Layout and Zoom.
While, as Jongware points out, its possible for individual users to override that option (Preferences > Page Display > Default Layout and Zoom), the number who will actually do that is actually very tiny.

  • Why can't I see still images in the playback monitor when editing a video?

Why can't I see still images in the playback monitor when editing a video? I have rendered the images in the project.  I checked my system to make sure it meets all the requirements for the software, no problem there.  When I "share" the project and save it as an MPEG, the images show up in WMP just fine.  But I need to be able to see what I'm doing to the stills while I am editing.  Help!

Many thanks for the reply with the details.
But, the key is missing...what version of Premiere Elements are you using? Are you using Premiere Elements 10?
I hope not in this case, but if you are, we will tell you what needs to be done. The following is a copy/paste of the Announcement
at the top of this forum about the Premiere Elements 10/NVIDIA GeForce issue.
Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA Video Card Driver Roll Back
If you are a Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card and you are experiencing
Premiere Elements 10 display and/or unexplained program behavior, then your first line of troubleshooting needs to be rolling
back the video card driver version instead of assuring that it is up to date.
Since October 2013 to the present, there have been a growing number of reports about display and unexplained workflow
glitches specific to the Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer has a NVIDIA GeForce video card. If this applies
to you, then the “user to user” remedy is to roll back the NVIDIA GeForce video card driver as far as is necessary to get rid of
the problems. The typical driver roll back has gone back as far as March – July 2013 in order to get a working Premiere
Elements 10. Neither NVIDIA nor Adobe has taken any corrective action in this regard to date, and none is expected moving forward.
Since October 2013, the following thread has tried to keep up with the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA reports
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1317675
Older NVIDIA GeForce drivers can be found
    http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us
A February 2014 overview of the situation as well as how to use the older NVIDIA GeForce drivers for the driver roll back
    can be found

    Looking forward to your reply.

  • Can you upload/use Microsoft office on the Ipad2?

Can you upload/use Microsoft office on the Ipad2? I'm looking at buying one for uni but need to do assignments and submit them.. how much like a computer is an ipad in this regard?
Can you update/edit documents in Microsoft word etc on the Ipad2?

gyrhead mentione OnLive and I find this is the best solution.  Im thinking about paying the monthly fee for it becuase its that good.  Although gyrhead is correct about the virtual keyboard, I find that using a bluetooth keyboard works great.  I use CloudOn also but find that its not a "full" version of Office...well at least Excel.  You cant create Pivot Tables and other things.

  • Why can't I resize jpg images in the applet?

I used this code to display images in an html page. One applet for one image. But out of the 8 images I loaded, 6 adjusted themselves to 320x240 automatically, 1 randomly jumps around to certain parts of the image every 250millisecs, and 1 just cuts the top left hand part of 320x240. How can .jpg files give 3 different situations? I tried using the resize() method in the code but it doesn't do anything! How can I size those .jpg images to the size I want?

you may try the function getScaledInstance(int, int, int) in Class Image.
the first and second parameters are the width and height you want, the third parameter is hints-flags to indicate the type of algorithm to use for image resampling.
