Can I upload my MacBook Time Machine to a (newly acquired) eMac... and if so how? (my Time Machine is on a USB 2.0)
My MacBook runs 10.5.8 Leopard and the
eMac specs:
Mac OS X version Tiger. Power PC G4 1.42GHz processor, minimum of 256 mb DDR PC 3200 memory(ram), 80 GB hard drive, CD-RW/DVD ROM combination drive, 64 mb ATI Raedon 9600 video card, 3 usb 2.0 ports, 2 firewire ports, built-in modem, built-in ethernet port for high speed internet, headphone jack, audio line-in jack, video output port.
Now I already know that I have to max out my RAM prior to running Leopard 10.5 and I know that the eMac cannot run Snow Leopard. While I am not totally new to Mac, I am new to upgrading an older Mac.
Please help me...

Yes, you need to purchase a retail copy of Leopard, on a disc. It's not available in stores anymore; but AppleCare still has it, for the original price of $129.
You may find some on eBay or other places; most are charging more, but if you find one for less, be sure it's a Retail (black) disc; the gray ones that came with Macs are specific to that model and build period; they won't work on your eMac.

How to Backup FROM (Not TO) Airport Extreme Disk via Time Machine

I'm running 10.5.2 and all the latest updates to Airport Extreme. I know there are problems backing up with Time Machine TO an Airport Extreme attached HD, but can I backup FROM one via Time Machine.
When I attach a drive to A. Ex. I can see it fine on any Mac on my LAN, but Time Machine doesn't show it in the area where I can choose to exclude items, making me question whether it would be backed up at all.
Any comments/suggestions?

Configure the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) to act as a bridge. That will put the computers connected to the D-Link on the same subnet as those connected to the AEBS.

Can't migrate from 10.8 to 10.9 with Time Machine

My old 2009 MacBookPro stopped working and I replaced it with the new one and hoped to be able to use the Migration Assistant to recover my backed up data I had in Time Machine. So far it jsut keeps "Looking for other sources" when I choose to migrate from Time Machine. I was told I should be able to do this going to the new system and I've done it with out any issues in the past. Is there anything I can do to get this working?

I'm having the same issue with trying to restore a Time Machine backup of a Mavericks machine saved to my Airport Time Capsule to a newly re-installed Macbook Pro running Mavericks. Anyone have any other suggestions?
The Migration Assistant keeps getting stuck on Step 5 of the section "Time Machine And other disk migration" in these instructions http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5872.
The computer names have been set to the same names. My Airport Time Capsule firmware version is 7.7.2.
Solution: I had to click on the Time Capsule icon to enable the "Continue" button. The icon doesn't look like a selectable button, unfortunately.

Can i downgrade from Yosemite to Mavericks by using Mavericks Time Machine Backup?

Hey guys! Well I am in the position of needing to buy a new Mac, but I need it to be on Mavericks due to programs that I run and stability issues. I would love to get one of the new mac minis, but am aware that they ship with OS X Yosemite. Is it true that I can downgrade to Mavericks by restoring the new mac mini from a Time Machine backup that was done on Mavericks? I have heard that this will work but wanted to make sure before I move forward.
Just to be clear, I would take a Mac Mini that has Yosemite on it and restore it from a Time Machine backup that was done from my old Mac (Mac Book Pro 17") that was on the latest version of Mavericks.

There should be a hidden Recovery HD on your Time Machine backup drive. Boot using OPTION booting:
Boot Using OPTION key:
1. Restart the computer.
2. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the
"OPTION" key.
3. Release the key when the boot manager appears.
4. Select the icon labeled Recovery HD 10.10.
5. Click on the arrow button below the icon.
Then do this:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select the volume you wish to erase from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit Disk Utility and return to the Main Menu.
Select Restore from a Time Machine backup and click on the Continue button.

I have bought Mountain Lion but when i try to update, it does not do it and starts up like usual.
I loose 4GB.
So i am thinking of eraising my Mac and restoring it from a backup.
I will be taking my mac appart and taking out my hardrive to connect to my friends computer to install mountain lion as the defult operation system.
Now, my question is.
Would i be able to Restore from an 10.7 backup to a 10.8 Mac??

Take a look at Pondini's excellent TM articles, particularly this one -

You should be able to restore your system in full if you backed up system folders as well as your data and applications.
Otherwise, Use the retail Snow Leopard DVD to install Snow over Leopard (no erasing required), then use Setup Assistant from the new installation to migrate from TM.

My HP Officejet Pro 8600 can't print from my MacBook Air. It keeps on showing "The printer is not connected", but the screen on the printer shows connected. I often reset the printer 'EVERY TIME" I want to use it. I also tried to turn off my laptop and printer several times before printing. If I'm lucky enough, it will work maybe for one or two prints. If no luck then I'll have to reset everything again. Sometimes I reset the printer, the printer will not show on my selection.

If your printer is wireless, then I would recommend assigning a "Static IP Address" by following this HP document on Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.

The graphics chipset in pre-2011 Macs will not support the AirPlay feature. I guess Apple could have withheld the feature for everyone, or provided free graphic upgrades for all older Macs. Neither choice makes much sense. It's a shame, but the Mac and iOS products have a lot more going for them than this one feature.
AirParrot is said to work for some machines. I tried it on my 2008 iMac, and it left a lot to be desired

Sure can.
With a document open in Pages, select to print so that you can see the print dialog as shown below.
Note that to see this view, you may need to press the Show Details button in the bottom left corner. In the image above, since I have the expanded view displayed, this button changes to Hide Details
So with the view shown, first change the Presets menu to Default Settings. Then click the Layout drop menu and select Quality & Media. Make the changes you want and then click on the Presets menu and select Save Current Settings as Preset...
At the next window, give the Preset a name and select the Only this Printer radio button and then click OK to save it. That's it.
As for the Preset that you already have, if you no longer want this preset then you can delete it via the Show Presets menu pane that you've used already.

I'm trying to upload a 25 minute video to youtube. It says the following: "The video duration exceeds the maximum duration supported by the destination. Please reduce the duration of the video and try again."
youtube supports videos of this size now. How can I get past this? Thanks!

First of all, why did you say yes to Nero Back up before researching what it does with files already on the HDD? When I install Nero, the Back Up is the first thing I disable, it is a nagging pain, there are much better backup programs available. There are several file recovery programs out there to recover deleted files, that is, if that is what happened. Also, if you haven't overwritten the files, so you should be able to find them.

Is there a cd that came with the printer?
If so, put in the cd and that will help you set it up.
If not, I think macs come with a program that helps you set up printers.
Also make sure that the printer is connected to the same network.
Make sure the printer is on.
