Can I use 1600x900 res while using VGA ?

I have a new Mac Mini (2012) and I'm connecting it to a Viewsonic VA20137m-LED monitor. Both units say they'll support 1600x900 resolution, however, that option doesn't appear for me in the preferences / settings. I'm using a VGA cable to connect the two. Does anyone know why my proper resolution setting (1600x900) isn't available to me with this configuration?

What adapter are you using for VGA..?
If you have the following > VA2037m-LED - 20” (19.5” Vis) Widescreen LED monitor, then it has both DVI and VGA inputs.
I would get a DVI cable and use the Apple supplied HDMI to DVI adapte, the DVI cable connected to the rmonitors DVI input.

This isn't a precise answer but a possible workable solution. SoundSource puts a menu extra which allows you to switch input/output and has an option for Auto-Switch to Headphones. The auto-switch feature doesn't work with USB headphones but I believe it will with 'regular' headphone plugs such as you use.

I have a web cam that can do 1.3Mp
This App can get those that Can, to Display (And Display Only) the native format of the camera.
iMovie is likely to be able to see it as it can handle Camcorder feeds.
The difference you see in iMovie to iChat is the difference.
iChat, MSN (If connected via a Exchange Server to do Video), Yahoo (Vid only no Audio) and Skype on the IM apps use 640 X 480 or in Skype's case less.
Photo Booth seems to use the same as iChat to allow for the Composition tweaks (It uses the same Quartz files in the Compositions Folder)
By eye Comic Life that came bundled with some Intels also seems to use 640 X 480
So to an extent it depends what you are going to use the camera for.
iGlasses is a cross app Add-On that can "improve" and tweak the picture in various applications such as iChat outside of what the OS and Application Software have commonly set as Defaults.
the Adjustments tend to be within the scope set up by the manufacturer (i.e. allowing colour, white balance and Contrast and other settings the camera may have been designed for but not in the app settings)
Quicktime Pro, if you have it, can be set in Preferences > Recording to "Device Native" which tends to allow a sort of in-between iChat and iGlasses control (some features but not all) but will work with iGlasses as well.
It is restricted to a 4:3 format window though but this would apply to most Web cams anyway.

Why do I get "can't access device" message while using Safari?

I am traveling in Mexico with my friend who has a Sony Vaio running Vista. I have a white MacBook (early 2008) running OS X 10.5.6. We choose hotels offering wireless internet, and my friend has no trouble anywhere, where I have trouble everywhere. BIG disappointment, since I'm always bragging on Apple. I have the feeling I my have done something dumb with the internet connection utility in "System Preferences"- could that be it?
Some questions about what has been happening:
A) why does "internet" (the utility in sys pref) sometimes tell me that I am connected when Safari says I am not?
B) Other times it tells me I'm not connected when Safari is the process of connecting successfully.
C) Why does it say I need a password when I don't? THIS IS THE MOST CONSISTENT MISTAKE IT MAKES
D)When I do need a password it often says "password invalid" when I type correct one.
E) I get "could not open communication device" WHILE Apple.com is actually loading! and even after I have been using it for 5 or so minutes.
Finally, if I have to re-install Safari, can I do it on line? (provided I can get on line).

Can't adjust the volume while using DJ controller

I've got a DJ controller. I just hopped from Windows to MAC (Pro Retina 13). I basically use Traktor DJ whenever I mix. Normally when I'd quit the program for DJing, the controller kept working - so I could play music via youtube through my speakers.
And just control the volume overall with the volume keys. Now that I'm on MAC, the DJ program works fine and I can control the master with a knob, but as soon as I quit the DJ program - It plays music through youtube and iTunes just fine, the only thing is it won't allow me to adjust the volume in any way.
The controller is mapped to a program, I can't use a master knob to adjust the volume out of the program...
Whenever I try to adjust the volume with the F11 and F12 keys it just shows an O with a slash through it.
I really want to control my volume through my mixer, please help!!!

Try quitting Safari like I describe, then reset the iPad. Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.
I would also suggest that you check to make sure that you have enough free space on your iPad for it to run efficiently. With iOS 8 it is recommended that you have 15-20% of the storage space on the device free. For a 16 GB device that is 2.4-3.2 GB free. For a 32 GB device that is 4.8-6.4 GB free. For a 64 GB device that is 9.6-12.8 GB free.

I have written a simple program in C , which uses malloc function for allocating memory for the array.When iam calling that DLL using call library function node in labview, it is not giving any output, my doubt is can we use malloc function in C program from which we will create DLL and is called in labview? I am attaching my C code and DLL and also labview file please tell me where i am doing wrong?

There's no problem using the Malloc function in C and call it as a DLL in LabVIEW.
But LabVIEW has a different memory management than C.
It is probably not recommended to allocate array memory in C for labVIEW arrays
You can use initialize array in LabVIEW instead.

Transparency Issue. Can't get Complete Opacity while using NICEST Mode

I am trying to make a shape transparent and using NICEST transparency mode and COLOR_4 (byte).
I provide color value for each coordinate point of the geometry (QuadArray) used. But even I set alpha to 255 for all points I get geometry slightly transparent. And it is different to what I get on using SCREEN_DOOR and full opacity.
Am I doing some thing wrong or are there some more things to keep in mind?

Those two steps are always to first thing to try if there are problems with accessing websites to refresh any cache data.
You can start with a reload of web page(s) and bypass the cache and if that doesn't help then try the other two.
*Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
*Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
*Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)

Created website with iWeb 3.0.4. Website hosted by Go Daddy. Current OS is Mavericks. Can I upload/publish changes from computer using Mavericks? Am afraid I might wipe out published site if I try to upload changes.

Whether you publish the entire site or just the changes you won't wipe out your website. The publish entire site will just replied all files on the server with new ones. The publish changes will just upload those new or modified files.
Sometimes if you have problems upload newly added files a "publish entire site" is necessary.

I can no longer print pages while using Firefox. Print dings. I can print when in Explorer.

When I try to print articles, pages, etc. that have the print icon provided, or when I use the File/Print menu, the print options window opens but when the print command is clicked I get a ding sound and no printing. I switched back to Explorer so I could get my work done and the print functions work fine. This problem was just created this week (9/13/10) and prior has been fine.

Can't Syc to AppleTV while using iMac Firewall

I am unable to sync from my iMac to AppleTV while I have the Firewall activated on the iMac. I read where you are supposed to be able to choose "AppleTV" to add to the "exceptions" list on the iMac Firewall settings page, however, since updating to OSX version 10.5.4, the AppleTV exception is no longer an option to add to the list. Is there any way I can sync to Apple TV without having to disconnect from iMac's firewall every time I want to sync?

I have tried two different settings. In OSX 10.5.4 the options are 1.) Allow All 2.)Allow Essential Services Only (to which I have added iTunes) and 3.) Allow Specific Services & Applications (also to which I have added iTunes). Neither the "Allow Specific...", nor the "Allow Essential..." lets me sync to the AppleTV. I get the "3689" error message with both. I do not have security of any type enabled on my router and am not aware of any other security unless my iMac came with something else from the factory I'm not aware of. To sync to the AppleTV, I have to "Allow All Incoming Connections" or it's a no-go.

Brand new IMac can't connect to Internet while using Vista Ultimate

The subject is pretty much it, but basically. We just bought a brand new IMac and I happened to have an old copy of Windows Vista Ultimate lying around and wanted to partition some hard drive space for gaming. During the installation a message popped up that said Lion only supports Windows 7. I went through with the installation and after Windows started I loaded in my old Snow Leopard CD. I installed the drivers and went through the set up. Everything seemed fine, but I am unable to connect to the Internet. I plugged my desktop in via Ethernet to my router but still no Internet. In my device manager there are many devices, including network controller, that have yellow exclamations next to them but I don't know how to update them or where to get the drivers. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I would be happy to take any steps to relay more information. Thank you!
