Can I use 2011 OS X Install DVD for a 2006 OS X macbook pro with OS X 10.4

I've got a 2006 Macbook Pro with OS X version 10.4.11 which is exceedingly slow and has parental control software on it that's wreaking havoc (its defunct Kids Gogogo, by the way). I'm wonder if I can use the install DVD from my new 2011 Macbook Pro to do a fresh install on the old Macbook Pro.

No.
The grey disks are hardware model specific with their own drivers.
Just buy the $29 10.6.3 Retail Disk from Apple and Software update.
10.6.8 is the best for that machine due to it's age, don't go with 10.7

What problems specifically? If you have a problem you should start your own thread and explain the problem in detail.
External USB devices including hard drives and DVD work fine on the new Macbook Pros.

I have it running on the latest NON-Retina MBP. And a good friend of mine has it running on his Retina model. Works fine.

If you need to revisit them...that's why you install FCS3. That's really the only reason I have that on my system, to revisit old projects, and to deal with clients who still use FCP 7.
You really should look at moving on though...not sticking with FCP7. It's 4 years old...two years since it was EOL. Adobe Premiere Pro CC is a very good FCP replacement...although I don't like their "rental" method of paying a subscription to use it. Or you can buy Adobe CS6...but that just lacks enough to make it not quite tempting for me. Premiere CC is spot on...but **** if I don't hate that subscription model. But there's also Avid Media Composer. But that doesn't do a lot of things that I used FCP and Adobe for...

FaceTime is included in Lion. The App Store version is for 10.6. If you deleted it, restore it from a backup, or reinstall the Mac OS.

You can either ask for this when buying a new MBP at a "physical" Apple store, or as in my case in the UK the online Apple store allows such keyboard configuration in addition to 3 other languages like Spanish, German and French

If you have a way to wipe 10.6.8 off, you can then reboot your machine (with no OS) and since your system came preinstalled with Lion, Internet Recovery should occur which will boot to Apple's servers into a Recovery HD for you to redownload and install Lion.
To be safe I would first make a clone of the current installation using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!. This way you have a way to recover.

Since this is a quite recent problem with my Dell desktop (Firefox browser) at home, I suspect something has changed resulting in my current issue. Thanks for any help!

YouTube Content Creators have the ability to disable embedding if they wish to keep their videos on YouTube only. This is most likely what has occurred and is more than likely not an issue with Firefox itself.

Roxio Easy VHS To DVD For Mac work on a MacBook Pro version 10.6.8?

I want to convert some VHS tapes to DVD and I found out that there's a software that can do that with a Mac: the Roxio Easy VHS to DVD for Mac.
However, when I looked some reviews and it says that this software doesn't work on Mac version 10.6.
Has anyone tried this software? Did it work well with your notebook? (Not a desktop!!)

Install failure for Aperture 3 on my MacBook Pro. Operating on Lion.

I am trying to install Aperture 3 on my MacBook Pro. I am operating on Lion and my software is up to date. Any clues as to what is goin on? Do I have a bad disk?

Just a hunch: If you are trying to install from an installation DVD or older disk image, and you get the message
"check with the developer to make sure Aperture works with this version of Mac OS X"
you may have a problem with an expired developer certificate (they expired mid march).
To fix this, set the Date in " SystemPreferences -> Date&Time" to a date well before March 2012 and run the Installer again. If that succeeds and Aperture now runs , reset the date to te current date.
If not, please post back answer and Tony's question ....

You have a disk drive on your MacBook Pro. You may not have a DVD or CD drive.

Can I use a 10.4 install DVD on my iMac 333?

I have a 333mhz iMac with slot loading CDR and a USB external 4X CDR. I have the retail 10.4 installation DVD, but I have no way to use it to install the software. I can take the DVD to Kinko's where they have newer machines that will open the DVD and make images from it, but I'm not sure I can get the installation software onto CD's so I can use it.
Is there a way to do this or do I have to go back to Apple to get 10.4 on CD media?
I appreciate any advice or ideas about how to overcome this problem.

Your best bet is to exchange the DVD to a CD. Apple offers both, and as you state the DVD is not going to work for you.
