Can i use 21.5 mac as monitor for windows laptop

Would i be able to use the new 21.5" imac as monitor for HP elitebook 2560p? i have docking station for laptop. I went to the apple store and received nothing but confusing/contradictory information. Please help.

In the current lineup, only the 27" iMac supports a miniDisplayPort input.
There are other differences too - the video processor, CPU options, disk options.

" I have a 2011 27" iMac and a 2009 MacBook Air, can I use the iMac as an external display for my MacBook Air?"

I have a 2008 iMac and wish to use it as a second monitor for my wife's laptop. I originally bought a mini display port to vga adaptor cable and realized that it would not work. I have to go back and buy the mini DVI to vga adapter cable to use it. But in scouring the google links - I saw that it might not work. It had said for 2011 and above it might, but did not mention earlier models. I could use some direction. If it not possible, I would rather not go and buy a new cable and try. The good news is it is just the display, not the video card. The bad news is I don't have another monitor I can use at this time. I was wondering if there is a way I can use my iPad 3 to take the place of a monitor. I want to mirror the image I see on the screen to the iPad. I wouldn't mind if it were done while connected to the iMac as I prefer using the keyboard as opposed to the touch screen. I just need a make shift monitor until I get a new mac (soon I hope).

i have an iMac and an air book. Now that I am using the two devices I am fed up of copying the data from the airbook to the iMac. Simple solution appears to be that I use the iMac as a display for the airbook. My IMac is over a year old.

Well that was helpful. So having trawled these discussions it appears that:
A) the iMac I have doesn't have a video input capability, so it can't be a dumb monitor
B) the iMac could connect to my air book over a network connection using JollyfastVNC software on the imac and screen recycler on the airbook.
So I will try the recycler option over wireless and over a cabled connection and see how cumbersome it is to use.

If you don't then you have one of a few problems.
1. Your phone company / plan does not allow tethering
2. Your iPhone got a little stuck after the last update (happened to mine), so reset the network settings;
Under Cellular data Network, and re add all the details.
3. You need to add the correct details into the Cellular Data Network settings.

It doesn't really matter where you got it, a server product key cannot be used to install a client OS. Where were you planning to get the installation media for 8.1?
In any case, the server edition which corresponds to 8.1 is server 2012R2. Server 2012 corresponds to Windows 8.

A colleague of me is working with a Window PC. He make a powerpoint presentation which contain graphic.
He sent it to another colleague who work with a Mac and Office 2011 for Mac. He can open the file, bur some sientific caratere are "damaged".
However, if he open the same file with Office 2008 for mac, it's work.
Do you have an idea how to make the Office 2011 for make able to read sientific caratere from a powerpoit file which come from the Window powerpoint?
