TimeMachine cant make a back up on my Segate hard drive. it use to, but i constantly had to erase and start over now it wont work at all

No. A Time Machine backup drive should have at least twice the capacity of the drive it backs up. You would need at least a 4 TB backup drive for Time Machine.
Might I suggest as an alternative that you not use Time Machine but a third-party backup utility that simply overwrites older files with new ones such that the backup drive can be the same capacity as the drive backed up.

If for picture/movie files, You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import.

I have two external FireWire/USB 2.O drives, both of which contain Seagate drives similar in specification to the one you propose to buy, though both are 300GB in size. My question is whether the drive enclosure is a good buy (i.e. one that will work with your Mac). You want an enclosure with a good FireWire Bridge chip, such as the Oxford 911, which is known to work well with Macs. I looked at your link, but I could not tell which chip is found in the enclosure.
I would not buy this until you find out what kind of FireWire Bridge is in the enclosure.
You may wish to check out the selection at Other World Computing. This is a company that specializes in Mac products, so you know your product will work with your Mac. You'll pay a bit more for a similar hard drive at OWC than the one you are considering presently, but as they say, you get what you pay for. OWC backs it products with a great warranty, too.

Hi, I'm a PC user from birth, and want to purchase an iMac, but the 500gb-1tb isn't enough storage for what I currently have on my PC (I have 4x 250gb hard drives, plus I'd need more room for the Mac OS). If this is the case, I'll buy 5-10 external enclosures for my hd's and build a custom box for them all. Basically you can't, though there are a few (fairly expensive) drives coming onto the market which are said to be compatible. There is no USB port on the iPad, and the optional camera connection kit is only for the transfer of photos/videos, so wouldn't recognise other file types - if you were able to connect a drive via it then the drive would need it's own power source, the photos would have to be in a specific format, and there is still no guarantee that it would work.
There are apps available for the iPad which can use/access cloud services such as Dropbox.

First find the spec for your AEBS. TC is Gigabit ethernet ie 10/100/1000. The older AEBS were Fast ethernet ie 10/100.
What would I do? TC set as base and create its own wireless network.. Main computer and cable modem attach to it. AEBS set up as bridge and create its own wireless network.
With this set up you can configure TC as N only at 5 GHZ if you have Extreme capable wireless Macs. The AEBS set N+(B/G) 2.4 GHZ for older G capable Macs. If you ever purchase Apple TV it can connect to the TC for speed of upload files to itself. The older Macs can still connect to AEBS and be used a Apple TV to stream.

They are USB ports - the smaller one is a mini-USB (like you might find on a digital camera) and the third is a USB-B port (such as on a printer). You can use a mini or standard USB cable (depending on the port) to connect it to your Macbook.
