  • Which phone can I use with my car-kit?

Hi all, I've bought a 2nd-hand car which I've had for over a year, and it's now time to upgrade the phone. I currently have a Nokia 6230i, and after trawling this forum and reading the following post
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=accessories&message.id=460&view=by_date_ascending&page=1
I appear to be in a very similar situation. I too have pulled my dashboard apart, and have a list of installed components.
    MBC-15S cradle
    AXF-15S external antenna
    HFU-4 Black box
What I'd like is a list of phones that are compatable with the HFU-4. I understand that I'll probably have to replace the cradle too, but would like a cradle that works in a similar fashion - ie. it also charges the phone. If the list of compatible phones is small then I'd be willing to look at another 'black box' providing I can change it over myself (ie. just unplug the 3 connecters and plug into new black box).
    So, my questions are.
    1. What phones are compatible with the HFU-4
    2. What cradle would I need to purchase for the above phones
    3. Is the AXF-15S compatible with the above cradles?
    4. What other 'black boxes' are available, for which phones, and can I buy these (the black boxes) easily as an end-user?
Incidentally I also have a problem in that the radio does not mute when a call is recieved - it did when I first bought the car, but after having an auto-electrician look at it, it no longer does, any ideas why it's not working? What wires from the black box should go to the stereo?
One thing I forgot to add - The DC connector has 4 wires, black, red, blue, and yellow. Black and red are obviously connected, but the blue and yellow come out of the connecter and are terminated? No idea why, or if they should be connected to something, or even if it is at all relevant to this question? Sorry!
    Thanks for your help

    Thanks Danny,
Hopefully someone from Nokia will answer to tell me which phones are compatible...not many of the new ones I suspect, but if I have to change the whole kit over then I'll probably not bother upgrading the phone. I'm understandably a bit wary of auto-electricians after the last one butchered the existing system (and he was recommended by a main-dealer). For no apparent reason he cut the external antenna wire and obviously the radio mute wire too, when all I asked him to do was to remove the cradle-he even lost the bolts for that! As I'm ok with wiring I'll do the next install myself I think!
I'm disappointed that Nokia have not provided an upgrade path-I thought the whole point of the pop-port was that you could just get a new cradle to fit your new phone. Obviously not! Over to you Nokia.

  • Can i use an old car charger with a usb port to charge my iPhone 5s?

Can I use an old car charger for a not smart phone to charge my iPhone 5s through the usb port?

    Usually you can!
check if the specification of charger (USB output) is 5V (very important) and at least 500mA (more power like 1000mA --> 1A allow you to charge greater devices like iPad)
But personally is not good idea, because in short/long time can damage or reduce the life of battery of your iPhone/iPad etc.
    Bye

If you have not yet done so unpair the car kit from the phone, or better yet reset it completely, Forget the car kit in the iPhone, and pair it anew.

  • Can anyone recommend a car kit for the Nokia 6131?

I'm looking for a car kit for my 6131 and I'm a bit baffled by all of the options I've found on the internet.
All I really need is a nice neat mobile holder and a charger. The holder should not be the type that attaches to the air vents; I had one of those once before and it just made the car look untidy!
I already have access to a Jabra BT250 bluetooth earpiece so I'm assuming that if the phone is in its cradle I'll be able to use that to make and answer calls. Otherwise I don't mind buying a bluetooth car kit if it's a better option.
I noticed on another thread that someone was recommending the wireless plug in hands free HF-6W to a 6131 owner, but the phone isn't listed as compatible with that on Nokia's web site. In fact, if you look at the compatibility details for all of Nokia's car kits, the 6131 isn't listed as compatible with any of them!
Any recommendations for the best holder and charger for the 6131, or a single unit that combines both?

The only way to connect this phone to a car kit is via a bluetooth connection, the ck-7w would be suitable for this. There is no specific holder for this phone so you would need a universal holder, i suggest that you buy a specific non damaging bracket for your car to mount this on to give you the best position.

  • Car kit for 6500 from 6230i

I have the now old cark 126 great holds and charges the phone even has an arial. It seems what ever I do now with my new phone is a backward step. I am begining to think I should have kept my 6230i instead of changing to the 6500c.
I hope one of you can help with the following issues.
1 Which hands free kit should I use?
2 Is there a cradle available?
3 What about charging the phone ?
    4 arial ?

The only option you have is to change your car kit, Nokia only do bluetooth car kits for 6500 classic. Look at Nokia ck-15w or ck-7w, your phone will work with other brands of bluetooth kits like Parrot or THB Bury.

  • Can I use Java Card Development Kit 2.2.1 on Windows XP?

Can I use Java Card Development Kit 2.2.1 on Windows XP?
If no, which kit supports XP?

It is not as strait forward as per say.
I would like to share some tips that I have learnt duirng my recent experience with Java Card Development Kit 2.1.2 ( It presumed that JAVA SDK and JCDK is properly installed:
    Additonal installation
    - you need to download Java Communicatons API version 2.o for Windows at http://java.sun.com/products/javacomm/downloads/index.html
    - unzip the downloaded file javacom20-win20.zip
    - copy comm.jar and javax.com.properties to %JAVA_HOME%\lib
    - copy win32com.dll to %JAVA_HOME%\bin
    Configuration of Environment
    - Activate System under Control Panel
    - Click Environment Variable button under Advance Tab.
    - Check that JAVA_HOME and JC21_HOME are there under User Variables for user123
    - Create a new enviroment by clicking New button under User Variables and Enter "CLASSPATH" for Variable Name and ".;c:\j2sdk1.4.1_04\lib\comm.jar for Variable Value ( the ".;" is important for the entry and varies according to your JAVA_HOME)
    Modifying %JC21_HOME%\samples\build_samples.bat
    - Next you need to modify the compiler option in build_samples.bat
    - Use editor to look for the portion "Compile Sample" and add "- target 1.1" to every statements here. A sample is listed below:
    %JAVA_HOME%\bin\javac -target 1.1 %JCFLAGS% src\com\sun\javacard\samples\HelloWorld\*.java
You may proceed to test the demo codes as instrucrted in the User Guide.
I hope the above will help those who are keen to have a head start in Java Card Developemnet.

  • Car Kit for Nokia 8800

Can any one suggest the best hands free car kit that the nokia 8800 is compatible with.

You may use a 616 car kit which has display and your phone will support sim access so you can download your contacts.

  • Car kit for 6210 Navigator

I've just upgraded from a 6230i, for which I have a Cark126 car kit, to the 6210 Navigator. I can't find anything like my current car kit for the Navigator. I really wanted to just plug the phone into a cradle and have it immediately charge and connect to the car's handsfree.
What do you all think is the best way to go 'hands-free' in the car, with my new phone? My hubby says he's capable of wiring a hands-free kit if it's straightforward but that he's no car or electronics expert!

Both the CK-100 and CK-300 have a charging cable coming from the control unit.
The charging cable plugs into the bottom of the cradle and then every time you put the phone in the cradle, it will be on charge and held legally. The actual connection to the car kit itself is over wireless Bluetooth.
If your car has aux in on the stereo system then the CK-300 is the all singing, all dancing option as you can operate more controls of the phone from the control button of the car kit AND have music from the phone playing through the car stereo PLUS a 3.5mm jack that you can connect an IPod to.
However you do not have aux in, the CK-100 will give a good simple solution and still give you the wireless music option but played directly through the car speakers.

  • Car kit for N73

I have a Motorola bluetooth car kit which worked perfectly with my motorola phone, but I have real problems using it with my N73. I have to connect it manually ever time I get in the car and even then it doesn't work sometimes.
Can anyone recommend a bluetooth car kit that definitely works with the N73. I don't want to buy another one only to find it won't work either. From what I've read, the N73 can be fussy when it comes to bluetooth.
    Thanks.

You might be better off asking this question on the accessories board - there may even be an answer on there already.

  • Best car kit for a Nokia 6111.

    Hi all,
Just got my 6111, and I want to get a car kit for it. I had an 8310 and used the CARK-132(?), which worked very well.
I was thinking of getting the CK-7W. As it is similar sort of style, it should save me a bit of effort with re-wiring the speaker/mic.
My main question is: with this car kit, will the Pop-port connection charge the phone?
Any other car kits particularly recomended? - I don't need anything fancy (CK-610?), just something that will allow me to easily answer and make the odd call easily, with radio mute, and as cheaply as possible. If it will automatically take the call when the ignition is switched on, that would be handy.
    Thanks,
    Nick.

    Thanks Danny,
I'm curious as to why using a pop port connection would be a safety issue? Surely once the phone is plugged in and sat in a cubby hole, it's no different to using the kit with bluetooth?
I think I've come to the conclusion that I may as well buy any bluetooth handsfree and a separate charger. Most of the time I will not need to charge the phone in the car, but I need the facility just in case. At least with a separate charger, I will be able to use it in a different car.
I could buy a CK-1W which appears to be exacly the same as the 7W apart from the pop-port snd cheaper. Otherwise there are numerous universal handsfree kits available. Any suggestions?
    Nick.

  • Can I use the Camera Connection Kit to transfer files from my Mob/PS3/iPod?

Can I use the Camera Connection Kit to transfer files from my mobile/iPod or Playstation 3 to iPad using a USB cable?
    I have an *iPod nano 16GB 5g* & my mobile is a *Samsung G800* and *Playstation 3 80GB*.
    _Thanks for reading_

The CCK will find/ask to download (if iPad supported formate )picture and video files if the device is formated in FAT 16 or 32 and the supported files are placed in a "DCIM" folder in the root directory. I have transfered such files from SD card and USB drives. However, not USB drive work. I had an old 2GB (very large) and when i connected it it said it drew too much power.
I also downloaded pictures and video files from a compact flash card and smart media card via a SanDisk USB card reader.
    AppleIpod60GB wrote:
No. The CCK is only designed to allow you to import photos from a digital camera via USB or an SD card. You cannot import any data via this kit and no other files will work as it's designed for only the functionality it does. The kit looks for a folder with the label "DSC####### the same structure as most digital cameras, and will only function with JPG files.

Can I use my Yamaha survival kit DVD (New Yamaha 635 keyboard) on Lion? The window advises not because it's a Power PC program. Thanks!!

Thanks Niel. Can you tell me how to learn whether my DVD is Mac OS X server 10.5 or 10.6?
That info is not in Info. The disk was created Aug 2004, so it seems very unlikely.
I guess I have to ask Yamaha for an upgrade/replacement. It has not been easy to reach Yamaha support. Suggestions welcome -

  • Does The New iPad have GPS receiver? Can I use it as car GPS navigate?

Hi, Does the New iPad have GPS receiver include as hardware? Can I use it as car GPS navigate?

If you get the WIFi+Cell model of iPad, then it does have GPS. You can use it for navigation if you purchase an app that provides downloadable maps. The built-in Maps app can work for navigation, but it doesn't provide turn-by-turn and requires an Internet connection to function and so usually isn't practical for in-car use.
