Can I use a different ID for app store than icloud on iphone?

In our household we share an ID for itunes so that we do not have to buy a separate instance of an app for each device we own. This causes a problem when someone wants to use their phone to buy an app since there is a different ID on the iphone than the computer's itunes account where most apps are purchased. THe itunes account will wipe out anything that was bought through the phone every time it syncs.
So, is it possible to have the app store on the idevice connected to a separate id than the icloud stuff that is used for mail and calendar?

Yeah. I don't think that is possible. I know you can have seperate user accounts on 1 computer. But the data from each would be different.

To clarify, we share an iPad (original iOS 5.1.1).
When I use it, I would like to use my individual AppleID that I use for store purchases so I get MY iMessages on both my phone and the iPad.
It seems to work when I use the iCloud Apple ID (meaning iMessages come through on both units) but when I try to set them both up using my store Apple ID, it doesn't work.

Not with a gift card for the iTunes Store, anyway. Apps from the iTunes Store are for Apple's devices only. If you have a gift card for Google's app store, that would be a different matter.

If it's an iTunes gift card, as opposed to an Apple Store gift card (which can only be used in Apple stores and the Apple online store), then you can redeem it onto your account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1574
And as long as you are buying content for yourself (you can't use an account's balance for gifting content) then your balance should be automatically used for your purchases : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5582

Not from within iCloud. The iCloud email service uses iCloud email addresses.
You can setup any email address on your devices separately to iCloud though.

I can't use my master card in App Store. how can I use it?

I can not use my master card shopping in App store. I could do that before, but I don't know what happend to it then. When I try to purchase somethin in there, after entering my card number, it says that the number is incorrect. I am sure everything is ok. I also changed my transaction password but nothing happend then. I hope someone can help me with it.

My cousin is letting me use his card to make purchases on the app store, I pay him whenever I'm going to buy something. And I don't want to use his name for my icloud, because I share photo streams and it's just weird.

My iTunes account was once compromised. Isn't iTunes login and psw the same as Apple ID and iCloud?

Old Apple ID used to sign in for App Store

My iPhone 5s will not let me update any of my Apps because it's asking for an old Apple ID. I can't remember that password. I have a new Apple ID that I have set up under General for everything, including the App store.
I deleted that app that was purchased using the old Apple ID, but I still can't update the Apps. When you open the App Store, and scroll down to Favorites , the NEW ID is listed but it still wants the OLD ID to update Apps.
I logged into ALL of my Apple IDs (my phone, husband's phone, kids' iPod, and the iPad) and made sure the Old ID was not listed anywhere. It's not.
How can I get rid of the OLD Apple ID and sign in using the NEW ID for updates?

The mistake was creating a new Apple ID, rather than changing the email address on the old one, or recovering the password for the old one. If you had done either of these there would be no problem with the apps acquired using the old ID, as the apps are associated with the account, not the email address that you used at the time you got them.

I can't use Applications I bought on App store, I can't login: unknown error

OK, I'm TOTALLY fed up with Apples App store for OS X. I freaking bought some SW and about every 3 months it gets confused and de-authorizes my using that program. It says "Unknown error" I've rebooted it, restarted it, updated my SW and it still doesn't work. I can't access Apple tech support because the App store is not one of the choices on the Apple website. If you're going to make the App store control all the applications, you should make it freaking work.
Am I really going to have to go to the Genius bar again to get this fixed?

OK finally went to the Genius bar. All the stuff in the support forums was not useful. What we did was turn off the firewall as a check - that didn't help, so I restarted it.
Then, with the genius, we went in both the /Library/LaunchAgents & /Library/LauchDaemons folders and put all the stuff that was non-Apple (IE had been added by other applications) into folders called Disabled, it's a pain because you have to copy, then delete the files, but it looks like Citrix or something like that was blocking or interfering with the application.

HT1918 iTunes store says I can not use my credit card for the store although it's the same card I've used for years

The itunes store says "this card cannot be used with the iTunes store. Please use another payment method". It's the same card I've always used, it's valid, up to date, and in good standing, and works everywhere else. What' up with this? I don't want to use a different card.

Try rebooting your iPad:
To reboot your iPad, hold down the sleep/wake button and the home button simultaneously until the screen goes black and the Apple logo appears. If, during this process, a slider appears on the screen to power it off, ignore it and keep holding the buttons down.
Rebooting your iPad can solve a lot of problems.

Suggestion for App Store when viewing from iphone

I hadn't checked the app store for about a week and when I looked last night... 844 games?! Thats awesome. BIG pain trying to look through all those games though.
Is there any way to suggest to Apple that they add some simple sorts under the "categories" section? It would be great to go to the category "games", for example, and then be able to sort by say: date added, avg rating, and price.
If you could set two sorts it would be ideal but anything is better than looking through 844 apps in what appears to be random order.
Seems like it would be such a simple thing for the mighty Apple programmers to do....
