Can i use a tv with my mini?

i am looking into getting a bigger display for my mac mini after i have just seen my mates 20" imac, the apple displays seem very expensive(i presume the 20" apple display is excactly the same size viewable as the imac) would i be better off buying a big tv, if so how would i go about it?

The G4 Mac minis are somewhat notorious for having finicky video adapters. So whatever you buy, make sure you can return it, and make sure it has a DVI input. Given the issues with the G4 minis, you might want to look for TVs that also include a VGA connector. VGA seems to work more reliably than DVI, but DVI would be preferable.
When looking at TVs, pay attention to the resolution, not just the picture size. A 20” TV that is 800x600 or even worse 640x480 is going to be a tedious display for some computer tasks. Here in the States a fairly popular resolution is 1368x768. 1920x1080 is the highest you’d see here.
I have a 19” LCD TV that is 1440x900, the same resolution as my PowerBook. And indeed, when I hook my PowerBook up to it, it works just fine, and looks acceptable. I’ve only connected it via DVI, but the TV also has a VGA input.

can i use mirroring (atv) with iPad mini?

You can use an iPhone (if your carrier supports it) as a personal hotspot for your iPad and use the phone's cellular connection to go online with your iPad - your iPad will see the phone as a wifi network.
If you are asking if you can share an internet connection from a wifi-only iPad then you can't, only cellular models potentially allow you to share its connection with other devices/computers.

    YES!
You either must use a monitor to initially set up the Mac Mini, or use Target Mode to boot into its hard disk, and create these settings, but:
You turn on Screen Sharing in the Sharing panel in System Preferences in the Mac Mini.  In my case I also give my Mac Mini a fixed IP with DHCP with Manual Address in the Network panel.
Then you boot your iMac and in the Finder in the GO menu to Connect to Server... and enter: "vnc://192.168.0.148" but replace 192.168.0.148 with your Manual Address for your Mac Mini.   You log in with your name and password for the Mac Mini and your Mac Mini will now appear in its own window.
Go to Full Screen and now you can running your Mac Mini with your iMac's keyboard, mouse and monitor.
I have been using my mid-2011 Mac Mini in this fashion since I purchased it.
As a backup, I have an HDMI cable connected from my Mac Mini to my HDTV to allow for "monitor viewing" when and if needed.
I have an older Mac Mini running Snow Leopard as part of my home entertainment center, and with its own IP, I also control it in this fashion without a monitor (although I can "view" it on my HDTV through its component video input, when needed).
This is known as a "headless" mac mini.
In my case, instead of an iMac, I use my MacBook Pro.

  • Can't use DL discs with mac mini!

Just bought a 1.66 intel mac mini w/DL drive. I tried verbatim DVD+R DL and Maxell DVD+R DL and in each case, the computer ejects the disc, not allowing me to burn my data!
Is there an exclusive club of discs that this paperweight will accept? Any help is greatly appreciated.
BTW, tried to use disk utility also, and double checked the drive was a DL drive through system profiler. It's a MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-846.
Is there something I'm doing wrong?

these were brand new discs right out of the case into the mac. They came in 3 packs and I tried 2 of the 3 in each brand.

  • Can i use a pendrive with the ipad mini 2 and access the files in the pendrive

can i use a pendrive with the ipad mini 2 and access the files in the pendrive

I've literally had a 50/50 success rate with drives. But even if you get it to work, all you'll be able to access are photos or videos that follow a very strict naming convention. You cannot access documents or music, and you cannot write anything off the iPad onto a flash drive.
If you want to access photos or videos, you'll get more reliable results with an SD card than fighting with a USB drive.

AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). It also requires the computer to be using wi-fi.

  • How do i run an external monitor with my macbook and change settings so that when i close the lid the signal to the monitor is not lost and i can continue using the mac with a mouse and a wireless keyboard?

How do i run an external monitor with my macbook and change settings so that when i close the lid the signal to the monitor is not lost and i can continue using the mac with a mouse and a wireless keyboard?

No, nothing will prevent the computer from going to sleep when you close its display except third-party hacks that are designed to do exactly that. I strongly advise against using any of those, as they may interfere with successful entry into clamshell mode (and they carry other downside risks as well). Just wait until the computer is asleep (with its sleep light pulsing), then press any key on the keyboard. It sounds as though your setup is working as it's designed to do.

  • How can I use an iPad with two itunes accounts?

How can I use an iPad with two itunes accounts?
    Hi there
My partner has a works iPad, which has her works Apps on (ones that are specifically made by her company and are NOT available in the App store).
What I want to be able to do is to ALSO have my itunes account on there so that I can put all the apps I have purchased previously from my iPhone on it.
This is so I can put on VLC player (thats already in my itunes account) so I can add videos to the iPad.
How do I do this please?
I tried it before by connecting it to my mac, but it wiped everything off the iPad completely and also deleted the data settings for using 3G.
So I want to avoid this happening again the future as it had to be sent back to her head office to be sorted again.
    Any advise please?
    Thanks

You can't. The iPad is desgined to be a 'one user' device and only really works with one apple ID at a time.
The only way would be if she, at work and with her work apple id, downloaded your apps (repurchasing them of course).
It's not meant to be a multiple user/multiple ID device.
