Can I use both newly cloned MBPR retina and old-MBP with same Time Machine

When my new-MBPR retina cloned from the old-MBP back up in Time Machine via migration assistance, will this newly-cloned MBPR continue thereon backing up with the same old-MBP back up in Time Machine? I.e. continuing same timeline?
And what happen to my old-MBP back up, if I continuing to use my old-MBP with the same Time Machine on? Will TM recognised 2 different MBP and thus creating 2 back ups? I seem to have problem to keep 2 MBP running with same TM. Programs not responding even force quitting them!
And what should I do to use both? Appreciate your help. Thank you.

OK, but in general I can use this one device as both file storage and Time Machine.
I thought that (for some reason) once I set up the Time Capsule to act just as Time Machine storage I would be unable to access it as a plain file storage.
I have just tested it now, and it seems it can work as both - file storage and Time Machine. I can see the Time Machine backup file on it and folders where I can dump regular files.
The only thing I would need to occasionally do is delete some old backups to keep Time Machine segment below 1 TB just so I have plenty of space for regular files.
This thing is awesome. :)

You can use your iPad charger to charge your iPhone 4S. Not recommended to use your iPhone charger to charge your iPad. So, use your iPad charger to charge both.

  • How can I use JTA in my business logic and execute process with PAPI?

    HI All,
How can I use JTA in my business logic and execute process with PAPI?
When my business logic has exception, the process will rollback.
or the process has some exceptions, my business logic also will rollback.
I don't know how to do it.
Does anyone know how to do it?

Thank you for your reply, Daniel.
But I think I did not express my mind clearly.
There is a scene that I have 2 Application Server.
My business code is deployed in one Server.
The BPM is deployed in another Server.
I want to execute Task use PAPI.(ProcessServiceSession.runActivity)
In my business code, I will do something before execute Task.
I need my business logic and Task in same transaction.
    To ensure them "all-or-nothing" .
As you say, if The transactions are managed by Oracle BPM.
then can I retrieve OBPM transcaction in my business code?

  • How can I delete photos from my iPad, iPhone, and laptop at the same time?

How can I delete photos from my iPad, iPhone, and laptop at the same time so I don't have to do it separately on each device?

Photos that were synced from your computer using iTunes can only be deleted by de-selecting them from the folder from where they were synced -  and then re-syncing.
Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Photos Tab on the right.
If you want to remove all of the Photos - uncheck the Sync Photos from Heading
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
If you are using iTunes 11 - this will be helpful, Setting up syncing in Windows.

    Welcome to Apple Communities
Mail doesn't support notes. If you use iCloud, you have them in it because Notes is an application

  • HT201328 When I unlock can i use both the AT&T SIM and also the new carrier which I got unlocked to

If I unlock through AT&T can I use both AT&T carrier as well as the new carrier

as one of the other repliers indicated (implicitly) - you can complete the unlock using your original sim card - to complete the unlock you have to restore the phone in itunes - if its unlocked you should get a message from itunes that says
Congratulations your iPhone is now unlocked
but the only way you will really know it worked is to use a different sim card
    that what i did - i
    1) restored the iPhone with the original sim card and got the congratulations message
    2) installed a pre-paid sim card from another carrier and made an received a phone call

  • Can I use an empty (NFTS)partition on my 1tb WD drive for Time Machine

I have a 1TB WD external hard drive formatted NTFS into 6 partitons. Can I use one of the partitions for Time Machine? or will it try to destroy all the partitions I have on the NTFS drive? I have Macbook Pro (early 2011 with OXS 10.7 Lion) and am running Parallels with Windows Vista on the Mac. And I have a Toshiba satellite running Vista. I just want to be able to read and write to my USB drive, from both and transfer files from the windows machine to the Mac and vice versa. Any Suggestions?

TimeMachine backups should be at least 2x the size of the HD.  Assuming you hve a 500 GB drive, all of the 1 TB will be needed, not just 1 partition.
Even if you decided to run below specs, you still need a disk with the GUID partition mapping scheme and HFS+ partition for TimeMachine.
I just purchased a new/self-powered LaCie 1 TB fro my 500 GB MBP.  "New" being the operative word.
As to reading/writing NTFS ... Mac can read read NTFS but not write it without special software.

  • Can I use one gift card for two apple ID at the same time?

Can I activate one gift card for two different apple ID and use amount from gift card like bank account?

No, an iTunes gift card can only be redeemed onto one account, and it can be used to buy content for that account (you can't, for example, redeem it on an account and then use some of it for gifting content to another account).

  • Use PS 5 can't use on 3 newer pcs. What's equilivant with same layers & photo manipulations as 5.

I have photoshop 5. I took classes at a local collage over 10 years ago on how to use it, I learned so much. My classmates had a more generic version.  I had the more expensive, high end version compared to the class. I really don't want to lose the ability's I had in 5. The instructor was able to show me some great functions in the 5-pro version, which I use, but I don't remember which functions those were.  I just can't afford the expensive pro version and Window stopped supporting my PC long ago and I've had to save things to floppy's because that PC didn't have a CD/DVD slot.  I want to use faster PC, my duct tape and rubber bands just are not holding my unit together anymore. I moved away from great teacher and the course not offered near me now. I could upgrade to just XP if needed and purchase a used version but I'm concerned about purchasing something used. Could someone spell-out for a low tech lady ...what I could purchase that will have the 5-pro functions and what I would lose if I discontinue it for your recomdation?

If you are looking for a newer computer, I would stay away from Windows XP as Microsoft just abandoned that version. Find windows 7 if you can.
Frankly from what you wrote, any newer computer would run rings around the old system including majority of the laptops. Almost all computers now come with a DVD drive, rarely CD but it is possible. External DVD drives can be had for under $100 easy. All newer computer have usb ports so external drives are easy to find and are relatively cheap.
If you can afford $10 a month subscribing to the photography program will get you the latest version of photoshop and lightroom.
Your alternative (speaking perpetual licensing) would be photoshop elements. You would be lacking some of the features, but would work for now for all the basics.
A main difference for you anyway would be elements can be used on your system until you run into the same situation you are in now.
Whereas the subscription is done 30 days after last payment. But it can be reactivated at a later date and it is always the latest version. Therefore with the subscription as long as you pay it will never be obsolete.

  • Can I use an extender on 70-300L and 24-70L with extension tube?

As the topic asks, seems like an extender (1.4 or 2.0) mounted to an EOS with a tube extender then a lens might work to allow extending the range of some telephoto zooms that are not compatible with an extender directly attached. Would this work? Would the extension tube negate the extender benefits?
    Thanks.

It is possible to put a 12mm Macro Extension tube on the front of the Canon Extenders, to allow them to physially mount on most lenses. However, after adding the extension tube the lens may no longer be able to focus to infinity.
The combo probably won't work on your 24-70 (not really sure why you'd want to put a teleconverter on that, since you have a 70-300mm).
But it might work okay on the 70-300mm....  Perhaps only at the long end of the zoom. But that's most likely where you would be using it, anyway  And even if you can't still focus all the way to infinity, it might not matter. But, heck, most of the time with really long focal lengths we don't focus all the way to infinity.
The only time I've done this, I used the 12mm extension tube trick to be able to stack 1.4X and 2X teleconverters, then used them on a 500mm lens (and put that on a crop camera and a very sturdy tripod). Really a pretty ridiculous experiment just to see how it worked. But, as you can see, the lens still focused (manually) to infinity....
If you prefer to use the Canon Extenders, give it a try. But I'd recommend trying the 1.4X first, to see if that's enough. A stronger 2X is less likely to give acceptible image quality on a zoom lens.... not to mention the loss of AF and a dimmer viewfinder to try to manual focus.
Speaking of which, you do realize that an f5.6 lens plus a 1.4X becomes an effective f8.... and only a few Canon cameras can still autofocus: 5DIII (with ver 2.x.x firmware) and 1D series models. Other Canon models need f5.6 or larger to focus.
There are some workarounds.... For one, you can tape up a couple of the contacts on the teleconverter so the camera doesn't know it's there. That way it will still try to autofocus. It may be slower, hunt more and really struggle or fail in more challenging light, though.

  • Can i use the G-Technology G-DRIVE hard drive to extend my time machine capacity?

I have a time capsule of 1TB but there are more MacBooks using it. So I would like to extend my disk space. Can I use the G-Technology G-DRIVE hard drive of 4 TB to do that? Another option is to buy a new time capsule of 3TB. What would be the best solution?

If the MacBooks are only using wireless for backups as I presume you are, then the speed of USB is ok.
But how old is the 1TB version TC.. ??
It must be at least, 3-4years now.. as the 1TB model finished in the Gen3 TC and we are now up to Gen5.
I really think if the TC has a crucial role in the network you replace before it breaks which tend to be sudden and fully dead.. rather than wait for it to fail.
On the other hand moving the backups to an external drive on the TC means that you simply plug it into a new TC if it does break.
Will the G-Drive work.. hmmm yes, but make sure you know the return policy of the store.
Or order it from people who are Mac aware like OWC..
Do not buy a raid box.. it should be a simple single disk. Raid versions will generally fail on the TC.
4TB is no problem on the later firmware. Although I think value for money is better with 3TB.

  • TS3899 hi - why can't i delete emails once from iphone and ipad at the same time?

When I delete emails from the iphone they still appear in the ipad. Why? How can I delete from both devices at the same time?

You can and it should be automatic depending on your refresh rate.  If your phone and iPad refresh every hour, or only on request, then the iPad will not show the change until you refresh the email account.
Next time you delete emails, try it....Refresh the screen on the iPad.
This only works if iPad has internet connection.

Yes, as long as you have a drive that both Mac & Windows can read...LR serials are platform agnostic...

  • How can I use SDXC on MacBook Pro Retina and Bootcamp?

I bought a Patriot LX Series 128GB SDXC card recently for my MacBook Pro Retina. When I insert it on Mac, it is recognized no problem. In Windows 8 (on Boot Camp), it scans indefinitely and often-time it crashes Windows Explorer, just to insert it. Has anyone had any issues with SDXC on Boot Camp? For me, it's just not working.

    Lion tech Specs: http://support.apple.com/kb/SP629
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
But the latest Aperture requires 10.7.5 at least; I cannot find the TechSpecs for that system, if I remember correctly 64 bit processor was mandatory, same as for Mt. Lion.
One other thought - if both systems cannot be upgraded to the same OS, why not create a Snowleopard partition on the newer mac and have both machines run Aperture 3.2.4. This would require to restore the previous version of the Aperture library from backup, however.

  • How can I use both high def (16:9) and regular def (4:3) in the same video?

I'm editing a load of video, some of it was shot in 16:9 high-def and some in 4:3 regular-def. Id really hate to see the 4:3 footage go to waste. What can I tack on to the black sidebars on either end of this footage to fill in the gaps? I've also seen on TV where the sidebars on old 4:3 footage is blurred out by video from that particular frame. How can I do this?

Just duplicate the footage and superimpose.
Stretch the underlaying footage to fill the screen and add a blur.
