Can I use Camera Raw 8.1 to process files and then open them in PSE 12 ot finsih the edit??

I really like working with RAW files in Camera Raw for initial processing, but I also like the simplicity of PSE to finish the edit. Before I buy PSE 12, I wanted to make sure that I could get Camera Raw 8.1 also so that I can use them together. Is this possible??

Okay, I didn't know. I'm not a Mac user. I use Windows 7. I haven't had any problems with any version of the DNG converter. If you have access to a computer with the newer OS on it (through a friend order otherwise) maybe you should use that computer to convert your files. Without being able to use the converter, I don't know of any other solution for you. The only problem with converting an someone else's computer is a you wouldn't have the profiles for your camera on your machine. Can you not just upgrade your OS?

If I click to open a pdf file when online with Firefox, the screen freezes and it tells me that the registry isn't updated and I should try regedit. You need to get rid of all those duplicate files. Put these in the Trash:
Adobe Reader 7.07 (all copies)
AdbeRdr708enUS.dmg
This should leave you with one copy of Adobe Reader 7.08 in your Applications folder, with the correct Adobe icon.
Now run Disk Utility and choose Repair Permissions. When it's done, try double-clicking on the Adobe Reader icon and see if it starts normally. If not, make a note as to any error messages or unusual behavior and post again.

I am using an old laptop with old software for a trip overseas and have CS3 installed. CS3 is unable to read the RAW files from my Canon 7D. Looks like it can only be opened in CS4 or later, anyone know a work around?

No, you can't use Camera Raw 5.6 in CS3. Your only option is t upgrade or download the free DNG Converter and convert the raw files to DNG.

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive. It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas? I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

I'm going to assume the consolidating files does not work due to hard drive space limitations.
Since you're moving to Windows 7, have you tried using the Windows files and settings transfer utility? That will move everything for you to the same location on the new computer, it also allows some control over what actually gets moved.
Alternatively, if you know the location of all of the media, it can be manually moved by copying it from the old computer to the new computer in the same location.
Also, using the Apple article on moving the library, take a slight twist on what it says. Move the iTunes library to the external drive, update the settings in iTunes to reflect the library being on the external drive, then consolodate it.
The options are endless for moving the library... it simply takes a little effort to make it happen and possibly a twist on existing "standard" methods depending on your unique situation.

iCloud provides a simple gallery in the form of 'Photo Journal' - uploading of photos from iPhoto to web pages hosted on iCloud, but only from iOS devices; and the photos are compressed to a size adequate for online viewing but are not available in full resolution as with the old MobileMe Gallery. OK...now I appear to 'progressed' I changed my email address back to original on Apple id and then was able to delete icloud account. Apparently I couldnt do it as it kept requesting password when I entered passsword ( both old and new one, it wouldnt accept it as it had my old email address in ) It didnt do that on ios6 . Anyway I deleted account, but now I tried to login in with my new id/password and it says unable as already in use!!! More help needed please! Its a nightmare!!

I have Adobe Reader XI but I can not read a pdf online, I must save it and then open. This never happened before.

The system attempts to download the pdf, but it is a dark grey screen. I can save this as a file and then open it using Adobe. Why two steps? I should be able to read the first one. This is extremely annoying.

Adobe has made this process much simpler in recent years.
No need to re-install any version earlier than the current version (CS6). All installers (upgrade or full) contain the full program code. The difference between full and upgrade is in the serial number.
All you need do is download (link below) and install CS6, enter the CS6 upgrade serial number then enter the CS5 serial number (even if that too is an upgrade).

Can LightRoom use Camera Raw 4.5?

I downloaded the ACR 4.5 plugin to the proper directory on my Mac, and Photoshop CS3 sees it correctly, and can open RAW (ORF) files from my Olympus E-520.
However, it seems Adobe LightRoom 1.4.1 cannot open RAW (ORF) files from the E-520. Is this normal? Is the problem that LightRoom cannot use this feature of ACR 4.5, or is the problem that there is some out-of-synch cache in LightRoom containing supported cameras? Or does LightRoom contain its own internal version of ACR? I checked, I only have ACR 4.5 installed on my Mac.

Yes, exactly. As far as I understand, the equivalent of Camera Raw 4.5, with regard to the raw engine, is Lightroom 2.0---both have Beta status as of now and are not yet officially released.

Print > PDF > Open PDF in Preview > Save As > Quartz Filter > Gray Tone.
If Quartz Filter doesn’t directly follow PDF there may be a menu that says Filter and then Quartz Filter. My memory, to quote Henric, is “porous.”

I am an amateur photographer and an art teacher and i have thousands of photos and music files on my computer that i would much rather put on my external hard drive so they dont take up so much room on my computer. I would like to extend the life of my computer as long as possible and want to keep as much memory free on the actual computer as i can. is there a way for me to put my pictures and or music on my external hard drive and still have it open regularly like it does now in iphoto or itunes?

they are backed up but there are thousands of them i have a small business selling my photos online and i was wondering if i could put them on the external hd and still have them open in iphoto or put my music on the hd and have it open in itunes so i dont have all of it on the computer. i take hundreds of photos a week and my photo gallery is not shrinking by any means any time soon so the more i can put in places other than my hard drive the better but i need them accessible at all times through my iphoto and other programs like photoshop illustrator etc.
