Can I use corrupt catalog?

Hey everyone. So I really need some help here.
Recently I started using Dropbox to sync my Lightroom catalog between my iMac where I do 95% of my work, and my Macbook Pro. I recently returned from a trip with more than 1,000 new photos. I've been editing for several days. Today I opened Lightroom on my iMac and noticed all of my work I've done over the past two days was gone. Digging a little I discovered I believe somehow I created a conflicted catalog. Although I know my laptop was closed while I was editing, I guess Lightroom must have been opened, and it created a conflicted catalog. I opened the conflicted catalog and all my work is there.
Anyways, regardless of how it happened, I am wondering if anyone sees a problem with just using the conflicted catalog for my new catalog, so I don't need to somehow try and import all the edits into my old catalog. I will keep the old one just in case.
Another question. If I do keep the conflicted catalog for my main one-do I need to redo all my smart previews? The conflicted catalog has no smart previews. The upload to dropbox can take a lot of time, so Im wondering if I can point my catalog to my original smart preview file.
Im really frustrated here. Any tips anyone can offer to straighten this mess out would really be appreciated. Ill try my best to never let it happen again.

I have opened each catalog. Without going through 20,000 images I'm hoping someone that knows about the conflicted catalogs can tell me this-
Does the conflicted catalog contain everything the original(un-conflicted) does (as long as I have not done any work in the original since this started)? All of my recent work from my trip is in the conflicted. Thats why I am hoping to just start using that for everything. I assume I would need to create all new previews seeing as the conflicted preview file is much smaller than the original.
I did not import any photos in this mess. I imported everything days before I screwed up.

You used the data. Verizon can not see what it was sued for. However your phone can see whats apps used the data. go to settings-data usage- there will be a place that says data usage cycle. line the dates up with your cycle. then there will be a bar graph below that extend bother white bars one all the way to the left and one all the way to the right. after those are extended below that will be a list of apps, there should be one that used over 2 gb and that will show you what app used that data in her purse

Yes, someone stole my original apple id in 2009. Now i bought another iphone in late 2012 , Created another apple id due to Apple not being able to help me access my original apple id. Which now since 2 months ago someone or company, or bank stole my second apple id. My iphone 4s with Sprint has no celluar connection supossedly due to no internet that is what sprint said but I looked it up on apple and it stated that there is a cellluar block on my iphone4s.
So I guess I will have to go in person to Sprint so they can explain that to me and why I was lied to on the phone earlier. Back to my 2nd stolen apple id that I registered my macbook,airport express router, and iphone4s and apple TV. So who ever stole this apple id obviously took over all my mac products I had registered to it. Enough about that back to trying to use time machine....Everytime i do, my macbook just starts acting all screwed up. I bought a WD external drive for Mac but I believe someone must have claimed it too. Since there is 75gb on it that I can't access. Kind of like my Macbook stating I can't save or have access to the Root . That is another thing after reinstalling snow lepoard which works great until I update it. Which is a problem because everytime I update it to 10.6.8 All the permissions are changed the graphics look horrible and I get redirected so bad its not funny. The email account is a joke. Also I notice my stationary for email is in Spanish not sure why and on Iworks the document samples are also in spanish. Now I dont speak any other language except ENGLISH AND HAVE LIVED IN UNITEDSTATES MY ENTIRE LIFE. But my internet provider Fibrant which swears they are local shows it is in the UK also when i try to access my email for that account it states it is not safe , certificate is expired and someone might be trying to impersonate my server. Needless to say it is getting old. I had this same problem with Timewarner and Att except att would just remove my ethernet driver then laugh when i would call and ask what the problem was. Then later I find out when I had DSL that somehow the phone number they had listed was change to being a digit off from my DSL account which again they laughed and thought it was funny. Enough about that. I need to know how to get access to my Apple id. I gave up on the first one but the second one I did have access to until I registered all my apple products. I have gone into purchased but next to each title it merely says 'downloaded'. I need to download them again. It will cost a fortune to re-purchase the corrupted music!

I tried that but it just shows 'downloaded'. There is no little cloud next to that wording. On an Itunes help page it shows a 'library icon' once you have logged in but that does not appear on my version of ITunes which is 11.1. I have lost so many peices of music! If it requires a Photoshop CS5 re-install, (I belief that it may fix the problem) and re-install the two third party plugins (NIK Viveza) and (Onone Perfect Resize) how and where do I get to the proper Adobe upload page to do that.
I have tried to fix this problem by changing the memory allocations, I have spend many hours on it and are very disgusted with it but it needs to be fixed. The current memory settings are;
Ram available = 1588 MB
Range = 873 -1143 MB
Recommended Photoshop usage range = 857 however I have tried every setting to max and in between. Nothing works. Current setting = 1588 (max)
The Photoshop I use is registered, I have product # and order # .

Contact NIK for updated/upgraded versions of their plug-ins. They have been having a lot of issues with their plug-ins.

In my experience the offline servicing feature is only OK and too unreliable for production.

How can I use the same catalog on PC and MAC?

I keep my catalog and photos on an external hard drive. I have both PCs and a MAC and I would like to be able to access the same catalog of photos on both my PC and my MAC using LR2. I am using v 2.3. The problem is the location of the photo is referenced differently on the PC than on the MAC. Does any one have any idea how I might accomplish this?
If this is impossible, then can anyone at least tell me how I can convert my catalog file (lrcat) so that the location of photos that are currently referenced using a drive and path (eg, p:\myphotos\...) to a format that can be used on the MAC so Lightroom running on the MAC will know about the photos on my external drive?

I have figured out the answer to my question. Thanks to those who tried to help.
First of all, I found that Lightroom's 'Locate folder' didn't work for me. It might have if I had tried that the first time I tried to convert things, but I had tried to locate a few photos already, so I was always told that the folder I was trying to locate was already in the catalog.
Breifly, what did work was to locate individual photos using the ? you see on the photo when in grid mode in the Library view and specify that other photos nearby should also be relocated. By choosing a photo at the top of the directory tree, Lightroom will search for all photos in the directory containing your photo and all subdirectories of it.
The details:
What did work, was to individually locate photos using the ? you see on the photo when in grid mode in the Library view. If you turn on the choice to locate other photos nearby, then Lightroom will search for other photos in this directory and in all subdirectories of the one containing your located photo. This was a good start, but the problem for me is that my photos are stored in many directories below an organizing directory (eg, \2009\2009-01-02) and the organizing directory (\2009 in this example) does not contain any photos to locate. Furthermore, each of my orgainizing 'yearly' directories are organized in one top directory (\Photos) that also has no photos in it to locate. So, to make use of this feature, I had to create a photo in at least the top directory that I could use for finding the rest. I call this a 'FindMe' photo. I found that it needed to have a totally different file name than any other photo in my library. So, I created on be exporting another photo (with very poor resolution to keep the size small) and giving it a name of FindMe-<directory_name>. I also found it helpful to give it a caption of 'FindMe' to use in locating the photo. I imported this photo into the top directory (\Photos) on the PC.
The next step was to open the .lrcat on the Mac. Looking at the grid of all photos, I narrowed down the photos to just those that had a caption of 'FindMe' or a file name of FindMe. That located the photo in \Photos that I could use to start the search for all the rest. (Note that giving your locating photo a name you can easily find is important because all you will be able to see when you look at all of the photos is just a blank square and I couldn't find any way to tell Lightroom to only show me photos in this one directory, excluding subdirectories (this is a feature they should add to Lightroom).)
Now theoretically, this trick should have located all of my photos. However, in a library of over 55,000 photos, there's bound to be some problems. It turns out that my library that started in Adobe Photoshop Elements had some entries that didn't point to the file properly...in fact there was a blank space at the beginning of the filename. We had caught this problem and renamed the file on the hard drive properly, but a few catalog entries had missed the correction of the filename before we converted this to a Lightroom catalog. (Elements tolerated the blank space in the file name, Lightroom does not). This caused Lightroom to hang when it was locating file. I solved this problem by fixing a lot of these in the PC catalog. (This took some doing, because Lightroom would first give me a ? to let me locate the file, but it quickly realized it had a problem and changed the ? to a danger sign that would not allow me to do anything with the photo. So, I had to act quickly to correct the problem with these photos.) That fixed a lot, but there were apparently still some problems in the library that caused Lightroom to hang when locating photos. Also, as the number of photos that were properly relocated grew, I found that it took too long to let Lightroom try to fix the entire library. So, I started creating FindMe photos in the few remaining 'yearly' organizing directories and locating files in each of these. That pretty much did the trick.
My wishlist for Lightroom new features:
1. I would like it if I could tell Lightroom to locate all photos within a directory (with the choice to includ subdirectories) in a particular place. By this, I mean to go from the directory, not from a specific photo within a directory.
2. I want to be able to tell Lightroom to only display photos within a particular directory (excluding those in the subdirectory). This would make it a lot easier to locate my 'find me' photos and would eliminate the need to make the so identifiable.

Sounds like your iPod is broken. Take it to Apple or someone else who repairs iPods and see if you can get it fixed, or get it replaced.

I did copy it to my desktop, but it still won't let me open it. I think the file on the disc might be corrupt or something like that though the cd itself checks out fine as far as viruses go. I was able to verify the disc, but that's about it. My husband tried it on his iMac and we have the same issue. It's unzipping the folder, but won't let us open the folder on both the Mac Book Pro or the iMac by double clicking, going to file/open or right clicking. It just keeps saying the same message as I posted above. I think I'm just going to have the client put the pictures on either a memory card or a USB memory stick so she won't have to compress the files for zipping purposes. It's been too frustrating trying to open this folder on this cd she gave me. She said she created/zipped the cd on her Mac Book Pro but it sure won't open on mine.

When I thing of the Thousands of dollars I have spent to get a 2000 song library and how Applle keeps screwing Windows users (no back-up of songs) I just think what a fool I was.

I did think about that and if I have to I will do that, however there are about 50 songs. I have closed and reopened iTunes several times and I am sure that I have the latest version. It fails right away but I can click on the cloud download icon and download the song that it failed on ... therefore it is not that song "or any one song" causing the issue. Any ideas?

Using Adobe Photoshop Elements 7, Recovered photos through Carbonite but can't find the catalog,Please help ......

I have tried everything I know, but can't locate the catalog- I do not know where it is or what it would be named or what carbonite would call it. Also, the photos are not at the "same" location. I have over 22,000 photos and can't imagine trying to re-catalog. It is my life and of course, I need something immediately for a family funeral. Not to be too dramatic.... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Photoshop Extended doesn't use catalogs. But I'm guessing your catalog information was contained in a data or xml file.

I have a xquery that execute a business rules in view.When I put it inside Data Instance Behavior, tab Data, inline, and
XQUERY the deploy in OSM doesn't work because it is a large xquery, more than 4000 characters.
So, I saw in OSM 7.0.3 doc (Developer’s Guide,Release 7.0.3 - Using XML Catalogs in OSM) that there is a possibility
of import resources files (xquery file in my case) in OSM Data Instance Behavior through XML Catalog.
I executed the follow steps
1) Add entry

Two observations:
1) Your inline xquery expression need to use the "import" xquery module expression. see point a) in my example below.
2) the change in oms-config.xml is to support the case for overriding the cartridge xml catalog ( for example developer, qa tester, etc) so this step is not mandatory to get your cartridge working.

My computer shut down unexpectedly, and now Lightroom 5 is giving me and message stating Corrupt Catalog Files. When I try to repair as suggested it says it has encountered problems reading or writing from discs when attempting to repair. Can anyone help please?

What you can do is use Lightroom Web via your browser on the other computer. You go into your browser and log into your Adobe account at https://lightroom.adobe.com/. You can then:
use the P, U, X keyboard shortcuts to add pick flags
use numbers 0-5 to add ratings
remove photos from collections
let others see a collection by making it public, sharing to FB etc, giving them the Adobe URL
add new originals to LrMobile by dragging them from the other computer's folders and dropping them in the browser - the newly uploaded file will be automatically added to your main catalogue. Try this, it's got lots of potential uses.
