Can I use DSLR to capture stop motion in PE8?

No luck in having "Get Media" find my Canon T2i which I want to use for stop motion, or my Canon FS200 for that matter.  Other stop motion capturing software I have sees both, but I need to use PE8.

I want to connect a Canon T2i DSLR to the computer via USB to view, control and capture using PrE from the computer monitor - i.e. I want setup the camera equipment and stage and not touch anything but the puppets. I don't want to take a bunch of pictures on the camera and import them.
What I want to do is possible with, say Stop Motion Pro - and it works great, but I like the additional features of PrE.  Looks like I'll be using Stop Motion Pro.

  • Can I use canon eos40d for stop motion capture in premiere elements 9?

I Want too do stop motion capture but when I click get media, the pop up dialog box proceeda as if to import still photos. How do I get the "capture panel" that is talked about where I can select stop motion?  Is premiere elements 9 supposed to work with a still camera like mine for stop motion at all?   Thanks!!'  Kimberley

Thanks for the reply. This is my take on the situation that you describe.
    You wrote
The camera was linked to PC with USB cable and then the software showed on the PC what would normally be in the camera viewfinder.  The enter key on the PC worked as a shutter release and onion skinning worked.  Can premiere elements do this?
That more or less describes the Premiere Elements Webcam experience if Premiere Elements recognized the Webcam.
If you have made a USB connection between the Canon 40D and the computer and you are not getting a Capture Window when you use Premiere Elements' Add Media Webcam or WDM compatible device, then Premiere Elements does not support that simple route. It is my understanding that WDM compatible device represents Windows Driver Model (a framework for device drivers).
I have done some Google searching, and I have found instance where claims have been made for the Canon 40D as a webcam. I post one of these links for informational and non promotional purposes.

Have you explore any utilities that came with the Canon that might supply drivers for the Canon as a webcam?
Have you tried to use the Canon 40D as a webcam with Windows Movie Maker?

  • Can i use elgato hd capture to play my ps3 on my imac 21,5 even if i don't have a tv?

Can i use my imac 21,5 as a display? I have seen a lot of reviews but they all use a tv screen and i was wondering if i can play with my mac screen without amy tv. Just using elgato. Thank you all

I would recommend contacting their tech support folks here if no one else has an answer for you. My guess is the TV isn't essential but only the Elgato folks would know for sure.

  • Can i use labview to capture and process images from ip cameras connected to a switch.

    Hi,
i have more then one ip cameras conneted in LAN by a switch. i have a PC conneted to same switch. is it possible to capture images from these ip cameras and process them(for example performing simple barcode scan or QR-code scan or OCR)?  Which IP cameras will be supported?

There is functionally no difference whether the camera is connected directly to the system or via a switch. Both should work the same. The only real requirement that you'd need to care about is whether the switch can pass multicast UDP traffic correctly (this is used for network discovery of IP cameras). Generally all unmanaged switches (probably what you are using) will treat multicast traffic identical to broadcast traffic, but some managed switches/routers may need to be configured to pass multicast.

  • Using iMovie 08 for Stop Motion?

My son and I have been using iMovie to do stopmotion animation. But with iLife 08, it seems the ability to import stills at 10-15fps and without the Ken Burns effect has been taken away. I can't get still photos to come in at anything besides 4sec/frame, and they have to be changed one by one - I can't batch change them. And, I can't figure out how to get rid of the Ken Burns effect.
I'm probably just going to by iStopMotion anyway, but does anyone have tips on how to import a whole batch of iPhoto stills at ".3 fps" (*** happened to references to the 30fps btw)? AND turn off the Ken Burns effect?
    Thanks,

The menu command File > Project Properties lets us control both the default playtime of imported images (both new images and all current project images) and the Ken Burns effect. And, of course, after importing an image you can adjust both properties by selecting the image and clicking the little Crop icon in the upper left corner.
These functions can also be accessed by Control-clicking on a slideshow image thumbnail.
iMovie 7 doesn't let us set a playtime shorter than .1 seconds (about 3 frames). For shorter durations it may be necessary to use QuickTime Pro to import the images as a sequence into a QuickTime movie. That lets you import using any duration you want. Then you would import THAT movie to iMovie. It would arrive in iMovie as video, however, not individual images.

  • Can I use motion 5 and Compressor with Final Cut Pro 7?

    Hi, Guys and Girls:
After reading a lot about the new Final Cut X I decided not to buy it. I´m not gonna say anything about it, pretty much everything has been said so there´s no point in being redundant about it.
    So my question is this:
Can I use the new version of Motion and Compressor with the old Final Cut Pro 7?
I heard the new version of Motion is nice, not so sure about the new Compressor but any improvement would be nice.
    Thanks in advance.
    Daniel Sametz.

    Anyone?
Can I use the new version of Motion and Compressor with the old Final Cut Pro 7?

  • Im wanting to download from dragon stop motion into quicktime

i'm using a prgram(dragon stop motion)installed into a macbook pro and wish to download what iv captured threw my nikon d7000 1339 pics into quicktime and its my understanding that oncethis is done i will see the pics as a video (at 24 frames per second ) and will also be able to transfer said video with facebook and possibly place on a disc for play...when i attempt the transfer quicktime wont allow it...maybe it not suppose to but the path was suggested in the infomation that came with the dragon stop motion download

The "Pro" upgrade of QuickTime Player 7.6.6 is required to import image sequence files.
You must first import the images into a single folder on your machine.

  • Stop Motion With OnLocation CS4???

    Hi,
I'm missing something here I think. There are also no references to Stop Motion or Time Lapse in the Help Files of OnLocation CS4...
There are at least Help files on Stop Motion and Time Lapse in CS3.
How do you do Stop Motion in CS4?
In CS3 there was a Stop Motion button you pressed to record the screen and move on to the next frame using the SplitScreen Overlay to create an Onion Skin affect.
But how do you achieve this with CS4 as there is no stop motion button!
    Cheers

Yes, I still have CS3 version, but I was hoping for more improvement rather than a complete drop.
Even with the CS3 version, when you took a few frames and then played back, you then could no longer capture frames to the same timeline. Capturing another frame started another timeline, which was a nuisance.
Anyway we bit the bullet as we need to use tools that do what we want rather than using a tool that restricts us to doing things according to what it decides we should do, so we purchased Stop Motion Pro HD on Friday.
Anyway Onlocation should never have been the tool to do stop motion, if you are out on a location, when do you get the time needed to do it? How many people would have actually used the stop motion option while out on a location like a beach or street or field. Maybe thats why it wasn't used very often.
Stop motion should be an option with Premiere Pro as this would be a studio environment anyway?
I bet if it was available in Premiere Pro, Adobe would see more activity of the stop motion "feature"?

  • Stop motion chroma screen problem for multi frames

I am trying to use green screen for stop motion movies and I do know how to set it for each frame but how do you get all the frames to accept a single back ground picture at once? I have to insert the effect one at a time into each frame. I cannot use "select all" and then insert...the option will only work on single frames which for hundreds of frames is very time consumming. Is there a batch frames work around?
    Thanks
    Kevin

Just remember that doing the Paste Attributes will add ALL the effects from the copied clip to ALL of the selected clips. Any effects already applied to those clips will still remain expect for Adjust, Motion or Opacity keyframes, those will be overwritten.
Best to practice on one or two clips to see what the results will be before doing a large group of them.

  • How can I make a stop motion animation using Premiere Elements 13?

I am trying to make a stop motion animation with a series of still shots. So far I have managed to speed up the shots so that I have one frame per second but this is still not fast enough and I can't work out how to make them go any faster!
I am working on a class project with my 8/9 year olds and the project has stalled at this point because I can't get past this hurdle. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    yogawithlexi,
    Welcome to the forum.
Im also needing to just edit the photos but adding text. Nothing fancy. I just want to make some flyers.
For editing photos, to be output to the printed page (whether by a commercial printing service, or a desktop printer), I strongly recommend Photoshop Elements (PsE).
If you need to output to a video file, then Premiere Elements (PrE) can possibly do what you want, but not for the printed page - at least not easily, and with the ultimate results. First, Video is not dependent on DPI/LPI (Dots Per Inch, or Lines Per Inch), where printed material will be. Also, while PrE can output a Still Image, the quality, when printed, will be far less, than what one can obtain with PsE.
Do you currently have Photoshop Elements on your computer, or only Premiere Elements?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Stop Motion Animation Capture

Is there a option to capture one frame at a time thru Final Cut Pro 5.0 to do stop motion animation? My camera is attached via firewire. Adobe Premiere has a stop motion button that captures one frame at a time.
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

the issue with using the digital still camera is that you will create large image files (not really a big deal) but framethief is a simple shoot & capture & import
    <
    Nonsense.
All DSLRs give you wide choice of image sizes and compressions.
The advantages of shooting with an SLR far outweigh the perceived limitations but they require thoroughly understanding your animation project's needs. The documentation on Tim Burton's "Corpse Bride" and many other stop-action films shot with still cameras is extensive. It's great fun to research. You'll spend hours on google looking for various stop-action proejcts. Lots of these animators are artists or students, gladly sharing their techniques on their sites or blogs. if you find one you like, post it.
There are cults of animators who shoot with still cameras and bring the frames into After Effects for processing with time remapping, frame blending and many other effects. Incredible stuff. Try google for Patrick Siemer, a visual effects artist at Pixar. He is featured in the new AE7 CIB from Adobe.

  • Using Still images to create a stop motion film in imovie

Hi all, I'm trying to create a stop motion film in imovie using photo's I've taken with my camera, I've managed to put it all into the sequence I want, and even put background music on, but for some reason I can't stop imovie, panning in and out on individual photo's/clips of my film, so whereas when i flick through the photo's on my camera, it creates a pretty good stop motion film, but on movie it looks as though I've held everything by hand not using a tripod, making it jaunty and not playing well.
Does anyone know how to make it stop doing this? My friend hasn't been able to stop it from doing it either!
    Thanks

iMovie '08 installs with the Ken Burns Effects preference selected. When you add a photo, it is automatically added by turning it into a "still frame" sequence of frames at the default length with the KBE applied. To get rid of it make sure your "Project" aspect ratio matches the aspect of your photos. Then select the photo sequence in the "Project" window, select the "Crop" tool, and choose the "Fit" option in the preview window. This will get rid of the KBE. Now all you have to do is select any single frame in your "Project" sequence (or multiple frames if you want to "slow" down the final motion sequence in your project), split the sequence, and then discard the unwanted frames. (You could also use Command-C to temporally "store" your selected frame(s) to memory, discard the entire sequence and then use Command-V to paste the frame(s) in memory back into the project window at the proper location in your "timeline.")

  • Can I do a Stop Motion Movie in iMovie?

Can I make a stop motion video from a bunch of stills in iMovie? I can't figure out where to start... not to mention iMovie seems to think I'm in love with the Ken Burns effect, which I'm not and has applied it to every one of my frames. I can't remove it without doing it for each individual frame - painful! I recall iMovie being so simple and straight forward years ago but haven't used it in a long while. Now when I look at it I'm completely lost. Is this because I'm not starting out with video that it doesn't show me a timeline with my stills in it?

Can I make a stop motion video from a bunch of stills in iMovie?
Yes, if you have the patience. (It's probably easier with QT Pro -- i.e., "Open Image Sequence" File menu option.)
I can't figure out where to start...
Start by making/creating/separating the frames and ordering them.

It's a lot easier if you change your "Initial Photo Placement" option in the "Project Properties..." window from "Ken Burns" to "Fit in Frame" before adding your material to the project."
Is this because I'm not starting out with video that it doesn't show me a timeline with my stills in it?
Try expanding your "clip icons" to "0.5 second" to create a two-dimensional "pseudo" timeline.
