Can I use FCX for multiple users on the same machine?

I have one mac pro, and two video cmpanies. I have two users on my machine and would like to set up two different final cut x workplatforms. Is that possible?

Of course, you can use FCP X from two different user accounts on your machine. The question here, I believe, is how to separate the content that each user accesses.
One obvious way to achieve that would be to store the content in the system disk - that would put events and projects in each user's Movies folder. But that is a bad option, for performance reasons, and more.
You could have separate external disks for each user to store his content.
Also, you could use different disk images which could, say, be all stored in the same internal (but not system) drive.

  • Can you use sync on multiple computers at the same time? ie have someone else logged into your firefox account for you whilst you are also logged in

I am trying to sign up to something but there is only a short window so was going to ask a friend to sign in at the same time using my account to try to sign up (with my password being saved into my firefox account)

Hi. Yes, you can use Sync on multiple devices at the same time. I use it to keep my bookmarks in sync across my desktop and Android versions of Firefox.

  • Find my Friends : Support for multiple users under the same Apple ID?

Can multiple users under the same Apple ID use the app to find each other?  My daughter uses my Apple ID with her iPod touch which allows me to monitor her purchases but it seems that only one device under an ID can use the app at a time.  If that is the case then it is a major disadvantage and I will need to go back to using latitude (or Find My iPhone which also allows me to see where all of my devices are at the same time)

  • Sharing one Aperture Library between multiple users on the same machine

Is there a way of setting up Aperture so that two different users on the same machine have full rights to do everything?

    Ian,
Thanks for the suggestion. It certanly better than nothing, but in my case there is no partition with permissions off and there are other users to whom I wouldn't want to give full rights to the library. As an alternative I thought of simply creating a special user and do all editing from it.
At any rate, it would have been useful if Aperture had something like that built in - like a preferences option, where one could specify a MacOS group name, and Aperture would do all its file/folder create operations within a given library with setgid()/setegid() of that group and corresponding umask() to give rw permissions to that group. Not too hard to do, either.

  • Multiple users on the same machine using a common iTunes Library

I'm running iTunes from my user profile in Vista, the songs are stores in a shared directory.
My wife recently purchased an iPhone, so I decided to setup her phone under her user profile in Vista, so she could use her contacts out of outlook, this meant I had to setup iTunes for her. All the outlook contacts sync with her phone (no issues), but when I point the music library to the directory where I stored the music I can't see the library.
I have searched under my user name and found the iTunes library.itl, this file in my user directory, not accessible when I wife is logged into her account.
Is there any way to have different user profiles on the same machine access the same music library in iTunes. So when I purchase music under my account and download it to the library, my wife's iTunes will also see the music, I'm okay if I have to do a manual sync, under her iTunes..

Move the \Music\iTunes\ folder to a Shared directory.
    Hold Shift and launch iTunes.
Select *Choose library* and select the _iTunes library.itl_ file in the \iTunes\ folder in the Shared directory.
Quit iTunes then let yoru wife log in and hold Shift and launch iTunes.
Select *Choose library* and select the _iTunes library.itl_ file in the \iTunes\ folder in the Shared directory.

  • Outlook autocomplete cache stops working for multiple users at the same time

    Hi there
Ever since we upgraded our Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 we have had problems with the autocomplete cache in Outlook 2010.
We have 700 users and about once per week I get a call about the autocomplete cache. A few users are on cached mode, but most use online mode. The problem appears on both, but it can usually be corrected by /cleanautocompletecache.
Granted, the autocomplete cache gets corrupted sometimes, but it seems to happen a lot for us. I have noticed that often more than one user experiences the problem at the same time, and, since the problem starting after upgrading Exchange, I suspect that
the issue is with Exchange and not Outlook. Yesterday three users complained about the cache at the same time.
I know how to get a broken cache going again - that is not the issue. The issue is keeping this from happening so often.
Anyone out there able to help?
    Thanks!
    /Anders

    Hi ,
Based on my knowledge , when you tried to send an email to a recipient in the same exchange organisation then the recipient address will be resolved in to legacy dn value and then that email will be delivered to destination mailbox by pointing towards to
    that legacy dn value.
For the external recipients exchange user the smtp address to get it delivered.
    For your issue :
Based upon the NDR message , we need to covert those values in to x500 format and add it to respective recipient mailbox as an x500 address. Then These erorrs will happen if the x500 value of the destination recipient is not available on it's maibox
and that would be the cause of the NDR for most of the times. Some time as you said autocomplete cache would get corrupted on the client end but it is very rare.
How to convert NDR to x500 address format :
    http://msexchangeguru.com/2012/03/15/x500/
How to avoid getting such kind of NDR'S :
    https://www.simple-talk.com/sysadmin/exchange/exchange-e-mail-addresses-and-the-outlook-address-cache/
In case if you don't want the users to use the autocomplete cache when composing the new emails :
In group policy we can use the  office templates to disable the below mentioned option.
1.use autocomplete to suggest the names ---> this option will comes under the advanced settings on the outlook client.
In case if you don't want the users to use the autocomplete cache when composing the new emails as well as if you wanted to delete that autocomplete then you need to choose one more option along with the first one.
    1.Empty autocomplete cache.
Please reply me if anyhitng is unclear.
    Thanks & Regards S.Nithyanandham

  • How do I customize firefox for multiple users on the same device?

Sometimes my wife uses my computer to surf the web. I'd like to have it set up so she can have her bookmarks, etc. when she's using it and I can have mine when I'm using it. Is this possible? If so how do I do it?

hello arack, the easiest way would be to create different user accounts for you both on the mac on the level of the operating system: [[How do I share Firefox between people on a computer?]]
or you could use the firefox profile manager to create separate profiles: [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles]]

  • Import PST files for multiple users at the same time?

While importing PST files into archive mailboxes, the Exchange 2010 mailbox server went to 100% CPU and memory usage and I could not stop the imports because the EMS stopped responding.  We had to restart the whole server to get back to normal.
Not sure if importing PSTs was the cause of it it was a coincidence.  We have done imports the same way before without this issue.
How many PST imports can be done at the same time and how do we queue up multiple users and have the mailbox imports have unique names for each user?  I noticed they are always called MailboxImport and MailboxImport1 and then it starts over as MailboxImport
again for additional users. So, if more than one user's PSTs are being imported at the same time, we will have multiple identically named imports running.
We would like multiple users' PST imports to queue up and start automatically when the previous users' imports complete.

Please try like this. Rename folder name same as alias.  i.e. \\server\share\<alias>. below are examples.
    "\\server\share\jsmith"
    "\\server\share\tjones"
    "\\server\share\rsmith"
    "\\server\share\bspears"
    "\\server\share\mmouse"
And run below command to take PST from the corresponding
    foreach ($i in (Get-Mailbox)) { New-MailboxImportRequest -Mailbox $i -FilePath "\\Server\share\$($i.Alias)\$($i.Alias).pst" -baditemlimit 50 -acceptlargedataloss ;while ((Get-MailboxImportRequest -mailbox $i | ? {$_.Status -eq "Queued" -or $_.Status -eq "InProgress"})) { sleep 180 } }
If a folder missing with the alias you will see an error similar to this.I think this will work for you. You just keep only the required PST folders to import in the "\\Server\share" folder.
"Unable to open PST file '\\server\share\mmouse\mmouse.pst'.
    Error details: Could
not find a part of the path '\\server\share\mmouse\mmouse.pst'.

  • Setting up a shared library for multiple accounts on the same machine

I am in idiot. I can't figure it out. This is exactly what I did.
1 - I set up multiple accounts on the computer. 1 for me and another for my wife.
2 - I loaded all the music into my account's public folder.
3 - I set the default folder in both hers and mine iTunes for this Public folder
4 - I then opened iTunes in my account and none of the songs were showing up so I dragged the folder into iTunes and it did its business. Now my account is all set.
    Here are my questions:
A - Do I need to drag the folder into my wife's account iTunes as well?
B - If either of us add music when logged in, will it automatically update in the other iTunes interface or is there something specific that needs to (manually) be done?

Doing it the way you did, you each have your own iTunes library file and are using the same iTunes music folder.
Changes by one will not be seen by the other and any new music added by one will have to be added to the library by the other.
Also, if one deletes music, it will be in teh library for the other but it will not be playable because the other person deleted it in the iTunes music folder.
Launch iTunes, then immediately press and hold Option, then select *Create new library*.
    Create one in Users/Shared.
    Quit iTunes.
Move all your music into the new /Users/Shared/iTunes/iTunes music folder.
Login to your Wife's computer account.
Move all her music into the new /Users/Shared/iTunes/iTunes music folder.
On her account, launch iTunes, then immediately press and hold Option, then select *Choose existing library*.
Select the _iTunes library file_ in /Users/Shared/iTunes.
In iTunes, File -> Add to library and select the iTunes music folder in /Users/Shared/iTunes.
All the music will be there.
Quit iTunes and log out of her account and back into your account and launch iTunes normally.
    All music will be there.
You should go to /Users/Shared/iTunes folder and right click - get info, click *Ownership & Permissions*. Set *You can* to *Read & Write* and set Others to *Read & Write*.
    Click *Apply to enclosed items*.
Any changes (new/deleted music, ratings, playlists, etc.) by one will be seen by the other sionce you are using the same iTunes library file.
Only one person can have iTunes open at a time. If you use Fast User switching, one will need to quit iTunes before the other can use it.

  • ITunes access for multiple users on the same Apple

I think I'm really done myself in for the fist time with my iMac. I have decided instead of sharing a single log-in with my girlfriend, to get her her own. This is working out great, but I'm come to a halt in trying to get her access to our music on iTunes. I read the article on the Apple Support website that clearly explains how to do this, I also read Kay and Bert's message thread which I thought would be of help to no avail.
I've copied my iTunes folder into user/shared then opened iTunes/preferences and connected iTunes the path to the new location. Done... but I can't see any of my music!! ... and I can't even see the music under my log-in. However, I can clearly see the files there in the user/shared folder. I'm starting to feel those "windows" days before I found Apple. Please help!

  • Single Outlook mailbox for multiple users on the same PC

    please now see below.
    Thanks

Guys, I think I may have figured a very simple work around, which at first glance appears to be working.
And I can't believe that i'm the only person in the world done this ???
    1. Configure email account/s as normal.
    2. Create a folder in the root of C and name it some thing obvious like "Outlook-Share", and give all PC users full access.
    3. Rename outlooks "Personal Folder", something obvious like "Shared Email", then move the PST file to the "Outlook-Share" folder.
    4. Open outlook and when it moans about not being able to find the .pst, navigate to "Outlook-Share"
    Close Outlook.
    5. Using Office Tools "Save my settings wizzard", save the office settings to the "Outlook-Share" folder.
    6. Log in as the new user, and use the "Save my settings wizzard" to restore office settings to this user profile.
This PC is not yet on the internet, as I'm on a development domain, but i created a mail in User1 profile which is sitting in the outbox waiting to go.
I then logged in as User2, and could see the mail waiting in the outbox. I created another email and sent this to the outbox.
Logged in as User2 and can now see 2 emails in the outbox.

  • HT4818 Can you use both Bootcamp and Parallels with the same Windows 7 installed

I have Parallels installed with Windows 7.  Can I use both Bootcamp and Parallels on the same machine depending on whether I just want to work in Windows all day (Bootcamp) or alternate during the same session (Parallels)?

You can, yes. But there is a complication: once you activate windows it will only be activated for one of the two methods you use. So, let's say you install into boot camp and activate windows. You can then install Parallels and it will find your boot camp installation, but when running in Parallels, Windows will report that it is not activated. Or, you can activate it in Parallels and when running in Boot Camp Windows will report that it is not activated. The reason for this is because Windows thinks it is running on different computers depending on how you boot it. This may not be an issue for you if you run Windows a lot one way and just occasionally the other way, so be sure to activate Windows in whichever method you use more often. Hope this helps!

  • Sharing applications between users on the same machine

I am new to the world of MAc OSX, I bought my mac to run a specific application, No problem there, However that application needs to be accessed via multiple users on the same machine. So far I have created the user logons, But each user gets a new iteration of the same application. How can I make one copy of the application together with all its data base files accesible my other users, Also when the user that owns the application logs off...the application is terminated... I have set up fast switching...as a work around so the application will stay up, but Other users cant see it...Help please

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
However that application needs to be accessed via multiple users on the same machine.
If the app is in the HD/Applications folder, all users can access it and use it. Then it doesn't matter of the other users are logged on or off. It's not a different iteration, there is no duplication.
To share the data: as Kappy says, put it in the Users/Shared folder. Each user can see into another user's Shared Folder.
Here's a question: if each user has to use the same app plus the same data, why have different accounts? The whole point of different accounts is to keep data separate?
