Can i use final cut pro
I am considering replacing my Dual G4 Firewire 800 MDD with a Mac Mini. My main concern is will it run Final Cut Pro 6.0.6. I don't envision getting into HD editing and mostly just edit Mini DV out to Quicktime files for the Internet / Web Sites. Anyone have any ideas or experience with this?
My Sony CX560 isn't listed either, but I have a feeling it's because FCP X doesn't play nice with footage shot at 60p. Everything else works though. And if I want, I can re-wrap the 60p footage to work.

HT4664 Can I use final cut pro X on " Mac mini" ?
Can I use final cut pro X on " Mac mini" ?
depending on what model: for sure yes, it does!
I did use FCPX on an old MacMini, c2d, 2.26GHz with 8GB Ram (using proxies made editing easy).
My actual work-horse is a MacMini i5, late 2012, 16GB Ram, plus some ext. usb3 drives = perfect for my needs! (costs vs. power)
I'm using two cheap 2.5" Toshiba 1TB usb3-drives, combined with MacOS' built-in DiskUtility as a Raid0 = 150mbps for under 100€ ... not professional (=raid0 contains a small risk of data loss), but again: best €-vs.-HP ratio -
HT202413 Can I use Final Cut Pro X on an HP computer?
I have an HP Pavilion laptop and I want to know if I purchase Final Cut, will it work on my laptop? Or does it only work on Apple brand computers/laptops?
It's only for Macs.

Can you use final cut pro and logic, after effect with lion operating system or not
This question to apple people as well, can you use all previous softwares on lion or not?
Susie Summer wrote:
PS I had no problem exporting previous projects - proof that I had Compressor!!!!!!
Actually, no. Compressor is a separate application is NOT required in order to export from FCP X. Lots of people buy FCP X but not Compressor.
Something in your system got hosed.
I suggest you delete FCP X completely from your system using FCS Remover, and then download it from your Purchases in the App Store. -
Can you use final cut pro x on a mac mini?
Works fine on a 2.53 ghz w/ 4 G memory .. Some of the processes might be quicker w/ newer iMac or Mac Pro, but everything I'm doing occurs quickly w/ few to no beachballs ...

I have been using Final Cut Pro without any problems - v6 - for ages. I recently had a hardware issue and had to reinstall the software. Since then I can't open most of my QT clips in my fcp project. They appear as white clips - audio only no pictures. There are a few QT clips you can view as regular thumbnail images and they play ok. What's the issue? I have fcp v6.0.6 and QT v7. Any thoughts on what to do next?
Yes I did software updates which updated fcp to 6.0.6 and QT to version 7.7. That's as far as updates have taken me although i have requested daily updates. I forgot to say the clips don't play in QT view either. Again sound but no pictures when they are played.

I have an Intel iMac running OSX 10.6.8. I would like to use Final Cut Pro 10.1. I know I need OSX 10.9 for this. Can I run both 10.6.8 and 10.9 on the iMac ? I do not want to convert completely to 10.9 because of my existing software. Thanks for any help
It would depend on how old your IMac is, how mush memory you have, it it can be upgraded by OWC, etc. I have a 2006 Macbook Pro and would NOT put Mavericks on it or espeacially FCP 10.1.1 on it because the most memory it can have is 4 GB. You need at least 8 GB to work with Final Cut Pro 10.1.1. IMHO.
I would try to find a copy of Final Cut Express perhaps.
Does this answer your question? -
I am making a graduation video for my cousin using Final Cut Pro. I have photos layered over videos, and I was wanted to find out how you can add a border around the photos so they stand off of the video. Anyone know what I could do?
You would need an image editor to edit the images and add a border to the image first before importing them into Final Cut.
Cheapest and very good image editor?
PIxelmator.
Located in the Mac App Store. $14.99 USD.
Here is the Pixelmator website to give you an overview of the app.

I had downloaded and used Final Cut Pro 7 (studio 3) on my mac, but it died. Can I download it to my new computer without buying a new copy? I'm not sure of the number of installations for academic copies. How would I do this?
AH...good.
There is no limit on the times you can install it from the DVDs. There's just a limit as to being able to run it on multiple machines AT THE SAME TIME. If your old computer dies, or you sell it (please reformat the drive so they don't get FCP for free), then you can install on a new computer fine. And you are allowed to install on (1) desktop and (1) laptop at the same time as well...but only use it on one machine at any given time. Meaning you can use it on the desktop at work, and then when away from the office, on your laptop.
Long story short...you can install it fine without any issues. -
I need to burn a Final Cut Pro project onto a DVD. I watched a tutorial but they were using Final cut Pro 10. How do I burn a project just using Final Cut Pro? and can I go through IDVD? ( oh and how can I finalize the project?) Thanks!
I did that already it it only burned one section of the project. How do I export a master file? Can i just save it on the computer then take it to IDVD? Thank you so much for helping me!

When starting Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 I am all of a sudden getting a message that says "One or more of the scratch disks don't have read/ write access" and now the app won't operate - how do I fix this so I can use Final Cut Pro?
Glad you found the answer. But something seems wrong. FCP should be able to assign the scratch disk to your startup drive. It's not advisable, but it should be possible. You might want to try and figure out what's going on before what ever's going on cause other problems.

Can I use Final Cut Studio 3 - notably FCP 7 - on the lastest MacBook Pro (non Retina) (Z0MV-27-4GB-512-HRA Apple 15" MacBook Pro/2.7GHz Quadcore Intel Core i7/8 GB) running OS 10.8? If not, is there a work-around if I have to revisit work done in FCS 3?
I have it running on the latest NON-Retina MBP. And a good friend of mine has it running on his Retina model. Works fine.
Henry English wrote:
What if I have to revisit any one of them? What if I try FCP X and find I prefer FCS 3?
If you need to revisit them...that's why you install FCS3. That's really the only reason I have that on my system, to revisit old projects, and to deal with clients who still use FCP 7.
You really should look at moving on though...not sticking with FCP7. It's 4 years old...two years since it was EOL. Adobe Premiere Pro CC is a very good FCP replacement...although I don't like their "rental" method of paying a subscription to use it. Or you can buy Adobe CS6...but that just lacks enough to make it not quite tempting for me. Premiere CC is spot on...but **** if I don't hate that subscription model. But there's also Avid Media Composer. But that doesn't do a lot of things that I used FCP and Adobe for... -
Why can't I use final cut pro 7 with Mavericks?
Why can't I use final cut pro 7 with Mavericks? Is any one else having problems? All my media is reputedly "offline" even though I can see all the files. Using the reconnect to media function doesn't do a thing. All of my previous projects are the same. Any ideas would be most welcome!
Because it is $299.99, and there is tax.
Cheers,

My company uses Final cut pro 7 and I have to know if we can try Final cut pro X on one of our G5 and, in the case of we can't switch to FCPX, if we can use FCP7 again without re-initialise it. Thanks
sorry for my english. it's not my maternal language. You cannot use FCPX on a G5. It's Intel only.

I am thing of using Final Cut Pro but when I try and download I get the message “Your computer’s video card does not meet the minimum system requirements.” Can I do anything about this? It is just as the message says. Your video card is not compatible.
You can add a compatible graphics card and use FCP X with your mac. I can't suggest which one, but maybe other people on this forum can guide.
And you may also get good suggestions in the Mac Pro forum.
