Can I use firewire to reinstall updated OS?

Hi
I've reformatted my G4 hard drive and have only been able to reinstall OS 10.1.5 since I don't have other disks with me.
However I have an iBook running 10.3.9 (which is what the G4 used to run) and I have a firewire cable -
can I install system software to get my G4 back up to 10.3.9 by hooking the two up via firewire?

I have a MacBook Pro to use at work. It has everything (all genuine softwares, server connection etc). The company is using a contract IT company so connecting to the server and setting email is real issue with me as this IT people can't configure Mac. Last time it took them 1 week to set up everything for me ( me one the phone with them as they aren't coming to our office - they only use QuickViewer to get access to my laptop).
Now the company is buying me an iMac so that I can use the laptop at home. Can I use firewire to transfer everything to the new iMac so that I don't waste my time installing softwares & calling this IT people to set up my email and connection to the server again? If it works do I have to enter serial numbers in again for all the softwares or I have to buy new softwares (I know with Adobe CS - I can only install in one computer)?

If you want to use the adobe suite on the imac you will have to deactivate it on the MBP or it will show up as being used. That is if you can only install it on one computer. Some licenses you can install it on 2 computers but it has to say that on the cd key tag.
Sorry to hear about your bad experience with the contractors. It is not that hard to get stuff like that up and running on the mac.

You can't. Apps and really all content purchased/downloaded through one Apple ID is forever tied to that Apple ID. In the case of Apps they will always request that Apple ID to update as they are licensed to that Apple ID.
In reality, the Apps were licensed to that Apple ID by the developer. And cannot simply be given away to you for you to use.
He should have wiped the iPod clean so you could set it up for your use without any of his accounts or purchased content as you are not really licensed to any of those Apps.

I tried to execute the following Merge Query:
When this query is executed without ‘Where clause’ in Update statement its working fine. When executed with ‘Where clause’ it throwing the following error:
ORA-00905: missing keyword.
Following is the sample query which I tried to execute:
MERGE INTO TABLE_NAME
USING (SELECT COLUMN FORM TABLES)
ON (CONDITION)
WHEN MATCHED THEN
UPDATE SET
     COLUMN UPATES
WHERE CONDITION -- Can we use where clause here?
WHEN NOT MATCHED THEN

I would like to know is it possible to use both INSERT and UPDATE at the same time in one interface because I have a requirement in which I have to perform both the task.
user send the file which contains both new and old record and I need to save those in MS SQL database.
If the record exist then use UPDATE otherwise use INSERT.
I looked on sdn but didn't find any blog which perform both the things at the same time.
Interface Requirement
FILE -
> PI -
> JDBC(INSERT & UPDATE)
I am thinking to use JDBC Lookup but not sure if it good to use for bulk record.
Can somebody please suggest me something or send me the link of any blog or anything to solve this problem.

          If I have understood properly the scenario properly,you are not performing insert and update together. As you posted
"If the record exist then use UPDATE otherwise use INSERT."
Thus you are performing either an insert or an update which depends on outcome of a search if the records already exist in database or not. Obviously to search the tables you need " select * from ... where ...." query. If your query returns some results you proceed with update since this means there are some old records already in database. If your query returns no rows you proceed with "insert into tablename....." since there are no old records present in database.
Now perhaps the best method to do the searching, taking a decision to insert or update, and finally insert or update operation is to be done by a stored procedure in MS SQL database. A stored procedure is a subroutine available to applications accessing a relational database system. Here the application is PI server.   If you need further help on how to write and call stored procedure in MS SQL you can look into these links

    Still you might face some problems while your scenario runs. Lets consider this scenario, after the stored procedure searches the database it found no rows. Thus you proceed with an insert operation. If your database table is being accessed by multiple applications (or users) other than yours then it is very well possible that after the search operation completed with a null result, an insert/update operation has been performed by some other application with the same primary key. Now when you are trying to insert another row with same primary key you get an error message like "duplicate entry not possible for same primary key value".     There must be other methods to avoid this problem. But the point is you need to be sure that all access to database for insert/update operations are isolated.

I CAN'T USE itunes6.05 after updating to 1.2

I've updated my 60Gb 5G ipod to 1.2 (i used another computer where my ipod visible in crabby itunes 7) and now it says that i can't use my itunes 6.05 and have to install 7th. I don't want to do that because of numerous bugs in that latest software.
That's the part of problem - the other one — i've downgraded software on my ipod back to 1.1.2 and it's now ok in itunes 6.05 But once i plug it to computer with Itunes 7 it's starting to do something with ipod library and after that it's becoming not visible in 6.05, and itunes 6.05 saying that i have to install 7th. ***?

If you are in camera roll you click the symbol at the bottom left, select the pics you want to forward, then click the blue next at the top right and select if you want to email, message, tweet, etc. If you are composing an email, press and hold the curser in the body of the email. The black bar (select, select all, paste >) come up. Click the arrow ">" and then select insert photo or video. In a message, click the camera icon to the left of the text message box. Hope that helps.

Can't use Home sharing after update IOS 4.3.2.

Can I use one infosource to update data to CUBE and ODS???

Can anyone tell me if I can load data to OSD and Cube from one the same InfoSource? As I know, I have to have "0recordmode"(update mode) in communication structure for ODS not for Cube. So how can ODS and Cube use the same Infosucre to update data?

Depending on the volume of data and the type of infosource, sometime one update to ODS first and then subsequently update to the Cube or update both cube and ODS in parallel.
For example, if you use AR or AP line item datasources, since you are extracting from both open line and closed line items tables, there could be multiple records for the same thing coming through. First when it appears as an open line item, and when it is paid, it appears again as a paid line item so if you update directly to the cube, you can have multiples of the real value. Thus in this instance you update from infosource to ODS then subsequently use delta update from ODS to cube. CCA and C0-PA on delta mode are example where there are no overlapping, thus you can update both ODS and Cube at the same time.

Can FMLE use Firewire as a source input?

This is a follow up of my last thread. I am needing to take a composite a/v source and input it into a laptop to bring into FMLE and then stream that out. Can the current version of FMLE take firewire video and audio as a source input?
If so, can anyone recommend a converter? I'm looking at one by Grass Valley (the company that makes EDIUS) that seems like it might work. Here's the link to it.

Sorry I posted this and then started reading some of the replies. I did see them as I am newbie here.
Looks like the only solution at this time is to export the data to a csv file, open it in numbers and use the numbers file as the source for the mail merge.
Would it be possible to have FileMaker then run an applescript ? or automator script to automatically convert the CSV file to numbers and then rename that Numbers file so that it is consistent and can be reused by the Pages "template" for subsequent documents to be used based on this template?

Can I use a script to update a graph.

We have several charts(graphs) within an InDesign document. We update the graph manually using a tab delimited text file. Is there a way to script this? I've scripted the InDesign document to update the links and verify the age of links but I've had quite a time to understand objects within Illustrator. I tried actions but the actions ignore graph items in my trial. I've even tried VB.NET but I don't understand what the data source for the graph is.

To my knowledge to only way in which you can change an Illustrator graphs data is to use datasets. You can import new data then update. You will need to work with XML thou… Have you not taken a look at marc's pie-chart script…
