He's knowledgable about exactly what your wanting to do.
Some drawbacks, you can't boot from any OS (OS X or Windows) installer disk from a external optical drive the Superdrive goes into when you install the kit.

I can not use CanaScan N670U with my Macbook Pro. I download Canoscan toolbox 4.1 from Cannon websit. It still keep saying "The scanner plug-in was not found". Please help

There is a solution (I'm running Snow Leopard on a Core2Duo iMac, but this problem arose when I was running Leopard on a G4 PowerBook too).
    Problem:
You download the OS X driver for the scanner from Canon's site. I already had the CanoScan Toolbox (4.1) stored on an external drive.
You unzip the driver and run the VISE installer. After a search it finds your copy of Photoshop (and maybe even the CanoScan Toolbox), and you click to install on that/those location(s).
You get a couple of error messages, which you click through.
You restart your computer and try to run the scanner but you get an error that the driver is wrong or missing and the process will abort.
    Solution:
BEFORE you restart, and with the installer package still open -
    1. Copy the Into_CFMSupport_Login & Into_CMPrefs folders to
    Applications : Canon Utilities
    Applications : Canoscan Toolbox
and remove the prefix Into_ from each folder
    2. Check whether the installer placed N067U_Library.shlb into the top level (not User level)
    Library : CFMSupport
and if it didn't, move it there yourself
THEN restart, and try again. It worked for me (via Photoshop), but whether it will work for everyone, I don't know.

can i use air play with my macbook pro and apple tv

AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). It also requires the computer to be using wi-fi.

If so, are there any problems and/or limitations in doing so? (i.e. no stereo sound, or anything else?).

And, just out of curiosity, why can't you use the Bluetooth earphones on an airplane?

I don't use Office myself so can't really offer advice. I don't recall seeing your issue before. Maybe someone who uses Office will be able to help.
As this thread is marked as solved it won't get the attention your query warrants. It would be a good idea to start your own thread discussing the problem - I'm sure someone here will offer the right advice/help.
Make sure you note what Mac your have and what version of OS X you are running.

  • SSD Install Experiences MacBook Pro 2011 i7

This is a report on the beastie that I installed in my MacBook Pro 2011:
    http://thranblog.info/post/8615912997/ssd-install-experiences-macbook-pro-2011-i 7

The fan normally runs at about 2000rpms - if they're loud enough to actually hear, you might have a problem. Mine can rev up to about 4000rpms sometimes and I'll hear them then, but it's nothing consistent.
To see how fast your fans are running, download the free iStat Pro widget. If they're running abnormally fast, you could try a SMC reset to see if that will help.
I would also uninstall VirusBarrier - your really don't need av software on a Mac but if you feel as if you must have something, try the free ClamXav and/or Sophos for Mac (both recommended by our resident malware/virus guru, Thomas Reed).
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Why can't I doubleside print in my macbook pro 2011 word program

why can't I doubleside print in my macbook pro 2011 word program
    does anyone know

The easiest way to produce double-sided publications is to print them on a printer that supports duplex printing. You can usually learn whether your printer supports duplex printing either by looking at the information that was included with the printer or by looking at the printer's properties. Some printers offer the option of automatically printing on both sides of a sheet of paper (automatic duplex printing). Other printers provide instructions so that you can manually reinsert pages to print the second side (manual duplex printing). Some printers do not offer duplex printing at all. If your printer doesn't offer automatic duplex printing, you can follow these steps to manually print on both sides of the paper. On the File menu, click Print. On the Printer pop-up menu, select the printer that you want. On the Copies & Pages pop-up menu, click Microsoft Word. Click Odd pages only. After the odd pages are printed, flip the stack of pages over, reinsert the stack into the printer, repeat steps 1 through 3, and then click Even pages only. Depending on the printer model, you might have to rotate and reorder the pages to print the other side of the stack

  • Help: Slow Crucial C300 256GB SSD in 17" MacBook Pro (2011) via SATA III 6Gb/s

    Computer: 2011 17" MacBook Pro
    Drive: Crucial C300 256GB
    Drive Firmware: Revision 7
    Bay: Main Drive Bay (6Gb/s)
    OS: Lion 10.7.1
I did a fresh install of 10.7.1 and I'm getting these speeds on the above configuration:
Here is the same test run on my previous computer, a 2008 Mac Pro, with SATA II (same exact drive):
What is going on here?  The Mac Pro with SATA II was running the C300 faster than the brand new 17" MacBook Pro 2011 running SATA III.  This drive should be getting up up to 355MB/s read on SATA III.
Can someone please help me figure out why this drive is not running faster in my computer?
    Thank you in advance.
FYI - I did install the new EFI 2.2 Update that was released in September.  The above tests were after I installed the update!  So you can rule out that I didn't install this update that supposedly fixed SATA speed issues on these Mac's.

I solved it.  Xbench didn't give the best results.  I tried other benchmarking tools and concluded that I am getting the SATA III speeds on this drive on this MacBook Pro.

  • Can I use my Mid 2012 13" MacBook Pro to drive two displays?

I have a Mid 2012 13" MacBook Pro (NOT Retina - I wanted the optical drive...) connected to a 27" Thunderbolt Display. If I get a MiniDisplay Port <-> MiniDisplay Port Cable (and connect it between the Thunderbolt Port on the Thunderbolt Display, and the MiniDisplay Port on the iMac), will the MacBook Pro also be able to drive my 27" Mid 2010 iMac as an external Monitor?
If not, will the iMac be able to drive the Thunderbolt display?
I'm trying to get to documents side by side on the 27" monitor so I can move data between them - Word/Word, Word/Excel, etc.,
It would be nice to know the answer before I go to the store and drop the $ on the cable...
    Many thanks,
    Chris

After lots of reading, it seems it is possible (thanks for the link, OGELTHORPE), but I haven't been able to figure out the right cable configuration.
Confirmed my MacBook Pro (mid 2012) supports two Thunderbolt Displays
Confirmed my iMac (mid 2010) supports Target Display Mode
Confirmed this is possible based on the below...
    6. Can I use an Apple Thunderbolt Display and an iMac in Target Display Mode to act as two additional displays for my Thunderbolt-equipped Mac?
Yes. If your Thunderbolt-equipped Mac supports two Thunderbolt displays this is possible. Your Thunderbolt-equipped Mac will need to be connected to your Apple Thunderbolt display and the iMac will need to be connected to the Thunderbolt port of the Apple Thunderbolt display. Not all iMacs support Target Display Mode. See Target Display Mode: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for more information. Once connected, place the iMac into Target Display Mode to enable it as the second external display.
    Notes:
Make sure the Thunderbolt Display is connected to your Thunderbolt-equipped Mac and is being recognized and used by the Thunderbolt-equipped Mac before connecting the iMac to the Thunderbolt display.
If the iMac is placed in the Thunderbolt chain before the Apple Thunderbolt Display, the Thunderbolt display will work as an external display for the iMac and it will stay active as an external display for the iMac, but it will not function with the main Thunderbolt-equipped Mac using the iMac's display.
To use an iMac in Target Display Mode when connected to an Apple Thunderbolt Display, the iMac must be Thunderbolt-enabled, and a Thunderbolt cable must be used (not a mini-DP cable).
The bulletpoint that worries me is the last one. I have tried with both a mini display port cable AND a thunderbolt cable, but the last bulletpoint seems to suggest that this is not possible if the iMac is NOT a Thunderbolt enabled iMac (which mine isn't). It does however say elsewhere that my iMac acting in TDM mode acts as a Thunderbolt Display, so it's all a bit confusing!!! It seems that my MacBook Pro can't drive both displays; so now I'm trying to figure out how to get the iMac to treat my Thunderbolt display as a second monitor.
    Fingers crossed...

  • Can you swap an SSD from a MacBook pro C2Duo to an MacBook pro unibody

I have a very trusty 17" MacBook pro core 2 duo that's due for an upgrade. Is it possible to swap my current SSD from my MBP C2D to my new 17" MacBook pro unibody? Im thinking there might be a problem with drivers? It will save me a lot of hassle trying to reinstall all of my pro apps particularly FCP. If it comes to it I'll have to do a fresh install.
    Thanks for any help

You have to install either the current OS that you were using on the new Mac or the version that Came on that new Mac when it was new. Not the OS that was on the drive when it was installed in the older Mac.
If Lion was the pre-installed OS on the new Mac that is what you have to install and there is only one way to do that. That is do use the Lion recovery system to Download Lion from the internet and then install it. Holding down the c key (or Command+c key) would do it.

I sympathize but your employer is back in the dark age, even Microsoft are ending support for E2003, have pride that you may lead them into the modern age.
