Can I use i-chat for free on my i-mac or I have to pay?
I have internet service and a yahoo account I primarily use. I know the mobile me account costs money. Is there anyway to use i-chat for free and video-conference?

An AIM name costs nothing.
In iChat 4 the Get an iChat Account button in the Add Account slide out links to an Apple page where you can get a free @mac.com name. (I have linked you to the page)
The Button in my iChat 5 takes me to the AIM site for new names.

When I use my IPhone 4S to view the Shaw Go Movie Central App when I am at home I only use WiFi which is automatic, I start watching a show and sometimes I will get a message like "you can not use your cellular for video playback" or something close to that. Then I received an email from Telus saying I had used my 3G instead of Wi-Fi using 75% of my data. How can this happen when I'm on Wi-Fi at home? If it switched to 3G for some reason I should have been disconnected and not just transferred to 3G network using up my data. What is the fix for this??
It doesn't have to be that complicated, Verizon iPhones come unlocked, just tell VZ you're going on Holiday/Traveling and suspend the service, no need to pay for service if you're not going to be using it. Pick up local SIM cards in the countries of your choosing, pop them in, re-activate iMessage and you're set!
I recommend getting a SIM card from the Three network in England, they have great EU roaming rates and free like-home roaming in Italy.
Set your phone's region to match the country you're in, it'll save from some headaches when calling local/international numbers.
To answer your questions,
1. If you choose not to have a local SIM card, it is good to keep your phone in Airplane mode to save battery.
2. Make sure the two iPhones have different names to reduce sync/restore issues.
3. If husband has an iPhone also, you can chat with iMessage/Facetime, just give him heads up about the new number you'll have. Otherwise, use Whatsapp if he's got an Android. You can activate Whatsapp with your American number or the international number if you choose to get a SIM in Europe.
Also, Get the MagicJack app and/or Google Hangouts, both of those apps provide you with free calling to the USA and Canada using any internet connection. Google Voice is another good way to SMS across the seas.

I am always able to connect to iChat with my .Mac account and were able to chat (text chat) with others. But I would like to use the Voice Chat and Video Chat features as well. So I tried and the results are as follows. (I have done all updates recently and there are no more updates available)

When I receive a call, it rings and the same procedures take place and the same error would show up.

Somewhat for others.
If your ISP is offering a VoIP service and blocking the SIP ports the normal solution is to tell them that they are blocking an App you were using and they will normally unblock the ports for free.
This may be because they have not told anybody that they are going to block ports.
It may also e that SIP is an International Standard and that blocking the end user implies they block their use full stop (which they shouldn't).

If you tells us what modem you have we may be able to tell you more on how it should be set up for iChat.
It is possible that it only has the default ports below the 1024 threshold open as standard (Web Browsing and Mail will be OK).

Can not take a screenshot with Maverick and track pad. can not use apple chat to talk with a tech. there are other issues also like I used to be able to go back a page with the delete button. No Maverick PDF to instruct on how to use Maverick
THE use of the apple support is a mess also.

What is wrong with this maverick OS?The only people who can possibly assist you with this is Apple Customer Relations, call your local Apple contact number and ask for Customer Relations then explain your situation clearly and politely (be firm but don't rant).
You might want to investiage what the local laws are regarding defective goods and 'fit for use' definitions on warranties etc. Consumer Protection can be a useful tool to use or bargain with if needed ... -

1) I don't think you can really scratch the screen with the Jot Script. I don't have a screen protector, but I have reasons to think it will still work if you have one (I tried the Scrip through a think sheet of plastic, and I still works: more on that in my next video).
2) It's true that the Script is noisy, but as I often say: have you ever tried to focus on the background noise of, say, a classroom? It is very noisy too! I'm always surprised by how good our brain is to filter background noises. So really, it depends on your environment and on the ability of your brain to filter noise. For me, I'd rather use a stylus that is a little noisy but very precise. It also depends on how you write text: as you can see on my video, I don't lift my pen very often, I write big groups of letters together.
3) You should watch my latest video about that: I talk about Memo and Notes Plus. Memo has a handwriting technology that you can test for free, and buy as an in-app purchase inside Notes Plus, to use in a realy note-taking app. In Notes Plus, you can indeed convert just selected areas containing text.
4) It won't have a text convertor, not in the next update. Maybe latter!

I think he is confused with imessage but that doesnt even work on calling.You cannot make a cellular international call for free just because you have a WiFi connection. However, you can make low cost International calls over WiFi using apps such ase Skype or Google Voice. You can also Facetime to another iPhone, iPad or Mac over WiFi or cellular data; that is free.

Sure...yes, that makes it POSSIBLE to read the files natively in FCP...if they come from a Panasonic camera. BUT...just try working with those files. Right away the system won't be nearly as responsive as it would if they were ProRes. First...there are no sequence settings for that format...so you'll have to use ProRes and have a green render bar. BUT, that's no big deal. The big deal is trying to work with the AVCHD format, which is VERY processor intensive...inside an application that doesn't like to work with much outside of the FCP editing codecs.
Is it possible? Sure? Will it work well...will you be as zippy and error free as if you converted to ProRes? Not by a long shot. OH, but don't just take my word for it. Go ahead...try it and see. No skin off my nose...no waste of my time. See how well this works.
I'm just here to relate real world working solutions to issues. And yes, I did try that plugin, and boy, was editing a pain.
