Can I use IPhone to transfer bookmarks to my new PC's hard drive?

After a HD failure, I've been able to re-install music, videos, podcasts and playlists to my computer using my IPhone with ITunes and a program call Music Rescue.
Now I want to populate my IE7 browser with my favorites (bookmarks) that are also in my IPhone.
Is there a way to do this?

This is what you need to do:
From my first post: Put at least one contact & one event in Outlook or whatever supported program you use. Do the same relative to bookmarks for IE. This is important in order to generate a "merge" prompt when you sync, regarding these categories. You will be asked to "merge" or "replace". Merge is your choice.
Next, under preferences(which I believe in windows is under the edit menu), disable auto sync when an ipod/iphone is connected.
You've already authorized your new computer, good.
Next, connect your phone(DO NOT SYNC!), go up to "File", "Transfer Purchases made on this ipod to this computer". All purchased content will be transferred apps/music.
Next, right click the phone in the left device pane & select reset warnings.
From here, follow the directions in this support article regarding "Restoring your iphone or ipod touch"
Select "Restore from Backup".
Do not perform the sync, mentioned in this article, prior to restoring, it will wipe your phone!

If you follow these directions, you will be fine. Read through everything first. If you have questions, post back.
From here you can select the appropriate content under the various tabs to sync your phone as usual.
You do not have to pay for apps a second time, if you follow these directions they will be transferred to your new computer & can be re-downloaded for free anyway.

I have connected a hard drive to my airport extreme.
Now i would like to use time machine to back up my computers, and would like to do this on the hard drive which is connected to my airport extreme.
Next step is that i would like to be able to approach my external hard drive via the internet.

Both are possible. However, Apple does NOT support Time Machine backups to AirPort Disks attached to the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn). Doing so will potentially lead to data corruption and is highly not recommended. Please check out this excellent Pondini article for more details. This article also provides the Apple Support references that states Apple's position. Bottom line? If your backups are critical to you, then you may want to rethink your backup solution.
As far as accessing the AirPort Disk from the Internet, the following is the basic steps to do so:
Start the AirPort Utility > Select the AEBSn, and then, note the IP address shown.
Select Manual Setup.
Verify that Connection Sharing = Share a public IP address is selected on the Internet > Internet Connection tab.
Select Disks, and then, select File Sharing.
Verify that both the "Enable file sharing" and "Share disks over WAN" options are enabled.
Verify that Secure Shared Disks = With a disk password. (Recommended)
Verify that AirPort Disks Guest Access = Not allowed. (Recommended)
Select Advanced, and then, select the Port Mapping tab.
Click the plus sign to add a new port mapping.
For Service, select the "Personal File Sharing" option. (Note: This option would only allow Mac clients to access the AirPort Disks. If you want both Macs and PCs to connect, you would need to leave this field at its default value and enter the appropriate SMB ports to the mix of ports to be opened.)
In the Public UDP Port(s) and Public TCP Port(s) boxes, type in a 4-digit port number (e.g., 8888) that you choose. In the Private IP Address box, type the internal IP address of your AEBSn that you wrote down in step 1. In the Private UDP Port(s) and Private TCP Port(s) boxes, type 548. Click Continue.
In the Description box, type a descriptive name like "AirPort Disk File Sharing," and then, click Done.
Click on Update.
To connect to the shared AirPort Disk from a remote location using a Mac:
From the Finder > Go > Connect to Server.
Enter the Pubic (WAN-side) IP address of the AEBSn, followed by a colon and the Public port number that you choose in step 11 of the previous procedure. For example: afp://www.mydyndnsdomain.com:8888 or afp://123.456.789.123:8888
Click Connect.
You should be prompted for your user name and password. The user name can be anything you like; the password should be the Disk password for the AEBSn that you created in step 6 previously.
Click Connect.

Use iPhone 4 to play iTunes library from an external hard drive without computer

Hello all-
I use iTunes for playback of my music library. My library is too large to be stored locally on my MBP so I use an external hard drive. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to use / setup an iPhone 4 to be able to read the iTunes library files and access the music stored on the external hard disc for playback WITHOUT the use of my MBP or any other computer. I may be asking too much but essentially it is just code that is written into iTunes that allows this to happen, between computer and external hard drive as well as iPod and it's hard disk. Of course I would need to be able to connect my iPhone to the external hard drive. I figure the dock to usb cable would suffice.
Any help is appreciated!

thanks for the quick reply! I was hoping to not only access the individual files, but use an actual user interface that could read the iTunes library files that I already have created via iTunes on my MBP, and provide me with an iTunes like playback experience, similar to how the Remote app works or the iPod app. Thanks though, I might use NetPortal for other applications though.

I just started with Lesson 1. Can I use iPhoto for jpeg files I've downloaded to my hard drive?

I'm using Mavericks on my MackBook Pro, and I'm new to iPhoto. I do not have a camera and would like to organize images I have received in emails or have downloaded to my hard drive; most are jpeg formats.
Lesson 1 only adresses digital images from a camera, and so on. Should I be discouraged, or can iPhoto be of help to me?

You should copy everything form the old computer, or the backcu copy of the old computer to your new one.
Certainly your computer has a method of copying everything to a new computer.
Your contacts should be in your Addrees book, Outlook, whatever program you have been syncing.

I have a MacBook Pro to use at work. It has everything (all genuine softwares, server connection etc). The company is using a contract IT company so connecting to the server and setting email is real issue with me as this IT people can't configure Mac. Last time it took them 1 week to set up everything for me ( me one the phone with them as they aren't coming to our office - they only use QuickViewer to get access to my laptop).
Now the company is buying me an iMac so that I can use the laptop at home. Can I use firewire to transfer everything to the new iMac so that I don't waste my time installing softwares & calling this IT people to set up my email and connection to the server again? If it works do I have to enter serial numbers in again for all the softwares or I have to buy new softwares (I know with Adobe CS - I can only install in one computer)?

If you want to use the adobe suite on the imac you will have to deactivate it on the MBP or it will show up as being used. That is if you can only install it on one computer. Some licenses you can install it on 2 computers but it has to say that on the cd key tag.
Sorry to hear about your bad experience with the contractors. It is not that hard to get stuff like that up and running on the mac.

Thank you, I understand, yeah, I knew that, my phone is factory unlocked and I am going home, which is obviously not in the States and I am thinking of buying a local carrier there.
