Can i use ipod nano and mini on same computer?

we have an ipod nano. works great. daughter is trying to use an ipod mini and we get a message that itunes cannot communicate with device and that we need to reinstall itunes. Is there a compatibility problem here? Can we use a nano and a mini on the same computer?
THANKS!

You may need to update iTunes to work with the second generation nano; updating iTunes will not erase anything from your library, and it will continue to work with the iPod mini.

  • Can I use a nano and video on same iTunes computer and library?

If I have an ipod Video and I currently download songs from my iTunes to iPod, is it possible to just select a certain folder in iTunes to have put on my husband's nano. I was told to just changet he preferences in iTunes but do I need to do anything with the nano before doing that...it is still in the box!
Thanks in advance...I just need explicit directions so I don't mess this up.
I might try setting up a different user name for him and transfering my library into his but I am not sure if I can do that...
    Thanks

  • I bought a used ipod nano and it is associated to another itunes account. How can I change the itunes account to mine so I can register it to my account?

I bought a used ipod nano for my daughter and when I tried to register it, I got a message advising that it is registered to another iTunes account. How can I remove that association and associate it to our iTunes account?

Restore it in iTunes on your computer.
There is a difference between registering with Apple and using it with iTunes. To register it (which isn't necessary) you would have to get the previous owner to de-register it.

  • 1G iPod Shuffle - can I connect iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle to same PC?

Please can someone help?! My husband has an iPod Nano and I have just bought my son an iPod Shuffle. Can they both be used on the same PC? I'm worried that every time I link one of the iPod's up it will overwrite the other iPod. Many thanks. JML1010

  • IPod nano and mini connectors

Are the nano and mini connectors interchangeable?

I'm not sure I understand your question. Do you mean to ask if the iPod nano and the iPod mini use the same type of connector? Then, yes, they do use the same type of connector.
However, there are a couple of differences between the two iPod models. For example, if you have a FireWire cable connected to your dock or an iPod cable with a FireWire connection, you will only be able to charge your iPod nano. The iPod nano requires a USB connection to sync songs or pictures.

  • How to connect multiple nanos and minis to one computer and share content

I have 3 iPod nano's and 1 iPod mini in my house and would like to make a central repository of music on one computer that can be shared across nanos where users can select all or some of the available tunes. How can I do this?

You could use the update option "automatically update selected playlists only" would allow you to create a playlist specifically for each iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used by the other iPods. Make your playlist a Smart playlist and limit the size to just below the advertised capacity of your iPod ( for example, around 3700MB for a 4GB or 1800MB for a 2GB Mini or Nano). You can read more about playlists at these links:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
    To select the update option.
    iTunes 6
Connect your iPod to your computer and when it appears in the Source list go to Edit>iTunes>Music Tab (iTunes>Preferences>Music tab on a Mac).
Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    iTunes 7
Connect your iPod to your computer and when it appears in the Source list click on it to show the preference tabs in the main pane. Choose the following option and click "Apply".
Sync Music - Selected playlists. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer. You'll find this in the Music Tab.

  • Can I install Mountain Lion and Mavericks on same computer

Stupidly I installed Mavericks over Mountain Lion without checking whether Quark XPress 9.5.3.1 would work with Mavericks.
    It won't.
I have re downloaded Mountain Lion and need to know whether I can run both on same computer - and how to do that - any help appreciated.
    Thanks.

Sure you can. Erase one of your partitions and install the OS of your choice on it. You can have as many operating systems on a Mac as you want. Use Startup Manager to select the OS you want to boot. Virtualization software is another option.
Both the Mavericks and Mountain Lion installers will permit you to select the partition on which it is to be installed.
If you don't tell us the errors that resulted from using Lion Disk Maker no one can begin to guess the reason, but no matter, you don't need the USB installer. Just use the App Store.
You can save the installer anywhere you like to use as often as you wish, so you don't have to download it each time.
    It looks like this
You have to copy it before running the installer because the installer conveniently erases the 5+ GB file after the installer is finished with it.

  • Can I have both Nano and Shuffle on one computer/same user account?

I have a Nano that I use daily and also just purchased a Shuffle to take to the gym (I'm a bit paranoid about the Nano getting broken, lost or stolen). I'd like to have some of the same music on both devices. Can I do that? (I've yet to plug in my Shuffle in case one overrides the other.)

    Hi MNRobin,
Yes you can! I suggest reading Knowledge Base Document #200432. If you want, you can select which songs go on which iPod by Manually adding songs, playlists, podcasts and audiobooks.
    I hope that helps,
    Jon

  • Can't Use Wi-Fi and VPN At Same Time

Newby to the iPhone, so forgive me if this is a basic setup issue that I have overlooked...
I have a user that when she is at home wants to connect to her Wi-Fi network AND connect to our VPN to sync with email. She cannot do both. When connected to Wi-Fi the VPN does not connect. Turning Wi-Fi off, she can connect. Is this normal?
    Thanks in advance.

    Richard,
Yes that is a normal operation of the iPhone. It can only utilize one connection type at a time weather it is Edge, WiFi, or VPN

  • Can't use two i-pods on the same computer

I recently bought a new Gateway with Windows Vista after my first computer completely died. I hooked up my i-Pod, authorized the new computer but had to back up using my back up CDs. However, all went well.
I thought I would be able to do the same thing when I hooked my Dad's i-Pod up. Instead my songs show up in the library when his i-Pod is hooked up. His songs show up in the music folder that appears directly under devices, with his i-Pod clearly listed as the device.
I tried hooking up his i-Pod under a different account and the same thing happens. I-Tunes won't let me backup his music.
Any clues about how to get out of this mess?

Yes. Each iPod maintains its own preferences:

  • Using Ipod Nano on more than one Comp

Can you use IPOD Nano on more than one computer? I tried but on my computer at work, I cannot transfer from IPOD to computer, only computer to IPOD
    Please Help!!

I should be able to play it where ever I want
And you can. Just burn it to a data CD, or transfer it to the other computer using a thumb drive, or use networking to transfer it, or even use the Hard Drive feature of the iPod to transfer it. Nothing stops you from doing any of those, and then when it's on the other computer you can play it there just fine.
