Can I use LabVIEW program to train OCR character set?

Hi everybody,
I know that I can use the OCR training interface in Vision Builder AI to train the character set. But this is very inconvenient that I do this manually every time. Are there ways to do this in LabVIEW program that the character set will be trained automatically?

Check-out Ammons Engineering. I beleive I read that Bruce developed some robust OCR code that may be useful.

I don't know a Galil DMC-740. Do you mean the Galil DMC-1740? In this case you are talking about an ISA bus board and it might be hard to find a PC that provides ISA bus slots and enough power to run an up to date LabVIEW version.
In general LabVIEW is an open platform, so if Galil provides a LabVIEW library or at least a well documented DLL you should be able to use their boards in LabVIEW. You should contact Galil for this information.
If you are really talking about an ISA board you should consider an upgrade to a newer bus technology like PCI. NI also provides a whole range of high quality motion control products that are at least comparable to Galil boards (http://www.ni.com/motion). A good LabVIEW integration for these devices is self-evident and they integrate easily with other NI products like multifunction data acquisition boards, machine vision products and bus interfaces.

Water + electronics do not mix. Something was damaged insode, and the logic board may be corroding as is.
Take it to a Genius Bar for an evaluation and repair estimate.
This is accidental damage and not covered by warranty.

when i am executing the code like this. i am able to send the data to 'Z_CBT_RFC_QUOTEMASTER' , but iam not getting data for 'Z_CBT_RFC_PRODUCTMASTER' interface. ID4 is the connection that i have created in SM59. with program ID as ABCD.
              Can i use the same connection for all interfaces.Please help in this, if we can use same connection for all interfaces. then how to make changes in XI.

Just tried this and I can confirm that my earlier understanding was correct!
One of my colleagues confused me out and the conclusion is,
1. You need a separate TCP IP Connection for every interface with a Unique program ID.

How can I use LabVIEW to send the equivalent of a CTRL D (in VT 100 format) out the serial port of my computer?

I am trying to write a vi that interfaces with a piece of OEM equipment that is set up to talk with a VT 100 terminal. I can't seem to locate the ASCII equivalent string (if there is such a thing) of a CTRL D. Is there a vi that emulates VT 100 commands?

If I recall, CTRL-D is EOF on most ASCII tables.
You'd probably have to use an escape sequence
or if you can use an unsigned 8-bit that might be
easier.

Two questions:
One, if it's a serial card, then presumably it gives you more serial ports, like COM3, COM4, etc. If so, VISA would see the COM ports, and not the card directly. The drivers for the card should make it so that you see the extra serial ports from the OS. If you don't see the extra COM ports from VISA, then it sounds like the drivers for the card are not installed properly. Do the extra COM ports show up in Device Manager?
Two, you said that you're using a Call Library function to get the data and you want to put it into system memory. Errr.... you just read the data and you have it in memory by definition. Are you saying you need a way to parse the data so it shows up on a graph or something?

How can I use LabVIEW to ground floating SCXI-1520 channels (in order not to lose scanning capabilities from the multiplexer)?

Currently I am reading quarter bridge strain with several SCXI-1520s. When in MAX I noticed my values were no longer reading after a certain gage and as I attempted to troubleshoot, found out that the multiplexer in this module will not scan past any open channel (or if it does, channel results are not consistent) for a very logical reason. If I lose a gage, I usually lose any data from any subsequent gages which we really cannot afford.
Are there any suggestions programming in LabVIEW (right now i'm using NI-DAQmx with an analog task set up)so that each time my loop executes, the program will check for any open channels and either not collect that data or change the order of acquisition (i.e. place the open channels last on the scan list?

Yes, by "open channel" i mean that there is no signal returning from the gage because it has broken off the structure or the signal to the terminal block has been disconnected somehow.
When I lose data, I'm referring to the data that is acquired on following channels. The behavior appears to be fairly random (which was a troubleshooting nightmare ) but usually if a channel is open, then that and those behind it in the scan order do not return any data. It returns a number like 10.357E-6 and I do not pick up any noise or fluctuations. As far as I understand, the multiplexer stops scanning at this point (open channel) because it has nothing to ground to and subsequently "hangs" - not (or randomly) scanning the following channels. I have gone through the bridge configuration and as of yet, have not figured out how to fix this using any hard-wiring techniques. I emailed NI, and was sent a library file to "ground the channels" but it actually resets the Analog input Task I have defined each loop.
I am new to NI-DAQmx so I do not know if this will alter any configurations I already have in MAX for NI-DAQmx. Will it override? I am concerned it will slow my loop time, and also I cannot see the code for this sub.vi so am a little skiddish about using it if i do not know if it can be tailored to my app.
What do you think? Am I on the right path?

How use an ESP motion controller to drive an actuator by using Labview program?

Our group bought a Universal Motion Conroller/Driver from Newport company and
its model is ESP 300. Right now, I am going to use it remotely and I want
to use Labview to compile the driving program. My thought is to move an
actuator step by step in x-axis and the length of step moving is 2cm.
After moving 40cm on x-axis from the beginning to the end, I will move the
actuator one step on y-axis. Then I moving from the beginning to the end
on x-axis again. I wonder whether somebody has such a labview program
or not. Or, has anybody other sample Labview programs for the
controller to control the moving? Can you provide them to me?

Hello,
There are several examples written in LabVIEW to do what you are trying to do but they will only work with National Instruments motion controllers, as they use driver specific VIs. In order to use your controller with LabVIEW you'll need a shared library of some sort. Once you have this library you can program your controller in LabVIEW by making function calls referencing to its shared library. See built-in LabVIEW examples for 'Using External Code'.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you decide to go with one of National Instruments motion controllers instead and need help finding those examples I was referencing above.

Can i use labview 2010 to acquire echoes using Fastframe function?

I have a Tektronix DPO 7054 oscilloscope which has the Fastframe function. How can I program in Labview to use this function? My signal is a series of echoes (20 echoes). I only want to acquire the first echo and the last echoes. I don't want to acquire all the 20 echoes as there are too many points which reduce the computer speed substantially.
Any suggestions?

I am actually wanting to measure the time interval for the series of echoes. I have a labview program to acquire all 20 echoes in a VI. I know I can pick any two echoes by a simple labview programming. However, to acquire all the echoes took too much time as the sample rate of the oscilloscope is very high (40 Gs/s). What I want to do is acquire the first and last echoes using the Fastframe of this oscilloscope, which can pick any echoes.

The error wouldn't be with not loading the LIFA firmware it is "Insufficient location information or the device or resource is not present in the system." So I'm going to guess that COM5 doesn't exist.
Click the little arrow next to COM5 and it will list the COM ports that LabVIEW (and MAX) see and can use. If yours isn't listed you'll need to figure out why. If none are listed then you likely don't have VISA installed.

You can not use the PCI-6013 board with LabVIEW Real-Time.
We offer three platforms for LabVIEW Real-time. PXI embedded controllers, 7030 data-acquisition plug-in boards (7030/xxxx) and FieldPoint. For more information on these options go to www.ni.com/products and then choose Real-Time from the menu on the left. There are PCI versions of the 7030 boards. Each 7030 board has a data-acquistion board attached to it (6030E, 6040E or 6533). When you embed a LabVIEW Real-Time program on the 7030 you will be able to access the daughter board. You can not access other boards from the embedded program. If you want to use several daq cards in your real-time system I would recommend a PXI chassi and PXI daq boards.
