Can I use my ATT iPhone 4S with a French carrier?

I am moving to France for a year and would really like to be able to use my iPhone 4S while I am there. Currently, my understanding is that I can simply take my iPhone to Orange when I get to France and have an Orange simcard put in my iPhone and then I can activate it using their network. Is this true? If it is not true, what do I need to do to use my iPhone with a French cell phone carrier?

Look iTunes>Preferences>Devices...is a backup listed for your iPhone 5 dated BEFORE you restored your iPhone 4 backup to your iPhone 5? If not, your data is gone. If there is a backup, on your iPhone 5: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. You should now be able to restore that backup, if it exists, to your iPhone 5.

Sorry, what others here have said is wrong, wrong, wrong. There is nothing about the hardware of the iPhone 4S that would prevent a Sprint 4S from being used on T-Mobile, or any GSM carrier, international or domestic. Nothing. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Each and every 4S is 100% hardware capable of doing both GSM and CDMA out of the box. The only impediment is that Sprint would have to authorize an unlock for you. This is something they simply refuse to do. If anyone at Sprint has told you that they can't unlock a 4S for domestic use with another carrier, they have lied to your face. This, by the way, is something they're doing with everyone who asks the question - just Google search "Sprint unlock iPhone 4S", and you'll see dozens of internet threads where people talk about being lied to by Sprint about this issue. The good news is that Sprint signed an agreement with the FCC regarding letting off-contract customers unlock their phones. The agreement takes effect in mid-March, and Sprint is dragging its feet until then. Once that deadline passes, if Sprint still hasn't agreed to unlock your phone, then they're in violation of the agreement, and you can and should report them to the FCC. I sure plan to. Then I'm going to switch carriers, to one that doesn't lie to me and keep fraudulent liens on my property.

Yes you can do that, however you can only have one primary account. You will need to set one account up as a secondary account and choose which account you wish to do this with, since you can only use mail, contacts, calendars, notes and reminders with a secondary account.
On your Mac, you would enter the account at system preferences> mail, contacts & calendars, on your mobile device you would enter your account at settings> mail, contacts, calendars.

Hi everyone! I bought an iPhone 5 in Dominican Republic attached to Orange network. In a recent visit to Miami my camera didn't focus and I got a replacement iPhone 5 at Lincoln Road Apple Store. Next month I will be in USA again, so I want to know if I can buy a local nano sim card to use my iPhone while I'm there.
PD. When I received the replacement, the genius bar guy told me that the replacement iPhone 5 was originally from AT&T but it would work nice with my local carrier.

The ONLY way this could happen would be if the OP returned the phone within the first 30 days of purchase in the original country of purchase, then bought a new one in the US on the Sprint network.

I have an old iPhone 3GS sitting around collecting dust. This morning I saw the phone can be re purposed to use for games, camera, etc. According to a forum thread I found, I have to do the following:
1) Insert the SIM card from the new or current phone into the old iPhone

You can create and use different iCloud accounts on the same computer, whether they are single or multiple user.
There is a limit of 3 accounts you can create from a device but I thought this was only iOS devices - maybe not.
iCloud accounts can only be created using a valid email address, so I guess I'd start there to retrace what accounts you have.

My wife and I just bought an ATV2. We both have and use iPhone 3Gs's. I installed the remote app on both phones, but I am only able to control the ATV2 with the first phone I synced with ATV2. You can home-share multiple libraries but only use one account at a time. So both phones would need to be signed in under the same apple ID.

And just in case you were wondering, installing one purchased copy on all the Macs you own is specifically called out as allowed in the Mac OS X Lion license.
If you do not want to download multiple times, just copy the Applications -> Install Lion app to a safe place BEFORE you do the first install. Then copy that copy to any Mac you own where you want to install Lion.
