Can I use my CD Rom on my Laptop to install an application to my desktop

I bought the new iMac, but did not get the external cd drive. I now need to load an application on it so that I can access all the option to my printer. Is there a way I can use the optical drive from my old lap top to load the program on to my desk top? I tried to just transfer the application, but that did not work.

About all you can do is google the old specs and look for a copy on Amazon. You said you just purchased the MBP. You do have 2 weeks from the date of purchase to return it and buy a different model if that helps.

I had the same problem as you. I used Software Update to update Logic Express to the latest version, and then it ran without any problems.

that's correct. Cloud software can be installed on Mac and/or Windows for no extra cost. No platform swapping process is required.
On the Mac simply sign in to creative.adobe.com with your Adobe ID and download the software. Same as you did on the PC.

The downloads are probably .dmg files (disk images). You would open the disk image (double-click it) to find the application or an installer. If it's the application itself, you then drag the application to your Applications folder to "install" it. If it's an installer, double-click the installer to run the installer that installs the application.
NOTE: If you iMac is Intel, it's not a PPC G5.
