  • Lost remote for Apple Tv 1st generation.

    Hi,
I've lost my remote for my 1st generation Apple TV and can no longer navigate through the menus.  Can the 1st generation remotes still be purchased. If so where??!  If not can a different remote work to navigate through the menus of a 1st generation Apple TV.  I've tried a 2nd generation remote and it did not navigate through the menus but did make the light on the 1st generation Apple TV come on when I tried to push the buttons.  I've downloaded remote apps. on my iPhone, but without the remote for the 1st generation Apple TV I was not apple to navigate through the Apple TV menus to sync up the iPhone remote app.  Any assistance would be helpful.
    Thanks
    Kevin

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Actually you can use the remote app to control the first generation Apple TV, but you'd need the supplied remote to set it up.
You don't need the first generation remote, the remote for the second generation model will control either model.
So assuming you still have your remote for your second generation Apple TV you could configure the first generation Apple TV with it to work with the remote app on the iPad and not need to buy a new remote at all. But if you do buy a new remote, the one sold in the store will be just fine.

  • Can I still purchase a charger for ipod shuffle 2nd generation

I lost my charging port for my ipod shuffle 2nd generation. Can I purchase a replacement?

That's the USB cable with a "mini-dock" at the iPod end?  If so, I don't see it listed at the Apple Store, but it looks like this
    http://www.amazon.com/Apple-shuffle-Generation-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B000 IK5Z8E
There are third-party replacements that cost less.  Some have the little dock and others have just the connector, for example
    http://www.amazon.com/eForCity-Cradle-Insten-Charger-shuffle/dp/B0062GM216
    http://www.amazon.com/Fosmon-Charger-Adapter-Shuffle-Generation/dp/B00DP7JEIE
NOTE:  The USB docking cable for the current 4th gen shuffle has a different connector that does not work with the 2nd gen shuffle.  So make sure the product you get is described as being for the 2nd gen shuffle.

  • Can't use full mirror function for apple tv after downloading mountain lion

I've just downloaded mountain lion, and don't seem to be able to use the full mirror funtion to my apple tv (software 5.0.2) i can only mirror videos playing in my itunes like before the update.
I've looked at videos on youtube, and i don't seem to have the same options to use the mirror function under system preferences > diplay like they do.
Does anyone know why this is?
    Thanks

AirPlay Mirroring from the Mac requires a mid-2011 iMac. Earlier iMacs do not support this option. If you have an earlier iMac, try:

  • Can you use a mobile broadband for Apple TV. My mobile prepaid is wifi but does it have to have credit on it to or can atv still stream through the device.

I have a mobile prepaid broadband. I want to buy a Apple TV but I'm unsure about whether it will work with my mobile broadband.
It is wifi.  Does  my wifi have to have credit on it for the atv to work.  It still works you just can't connect to the Internet with it unless I buy credit.  I just need to make sure.  I want to use my iPad and view on my he tv.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
It may well work but will likely be far too slow and far to expensive.

  • Picture Strategies for Apple TV 2nd Generation

How do I work with the new Apple TV 2 and my pictures?
I have three first generation AppleTV and thought the new one would be cool.  The challenge I have is how to choose what shows up for pictures.  I have a large library and don't want private pictures streaming on the TV.  Sparing the details let's just say the birth of our son showing up on the TV during a dinner party got me in a little more than hot water with my wife... anyone relate?
The issue is that with 1st generation I could choose exactly what would show up on the aTV (because it behaved like an iPod) and one of my favorite things to do would be to load up special albums of friends that were coming over, hit sync and watch the stream of images of them during an evening.  With the aTV2 I can't control anything.  I loved making a smart album from the meta data and changing things up on occassion as well.
How do I hide my private pictures without making new libraries?
How do I control what is used for the screensaver?
How can I control what albums/projects/events show up?
I use Aperture and have several hundred projects and albums with tens of thousands of images.  I don't want to do a bunch of manual work arounds if I can help it. Yes, I can make special folders but that defeats the purpose of "it just works".
It feels to me that in an attempt by Apple to dumb down the experience they handicapped the device for those that use it for media. Sure, I like the aTV2 for buying movies and renting stuff, airplay and other new features but I am really bummed that my favorite use case has been taken away from me.  Not sure if there is a fix here so I am reaching out to the community.
Thanks in advance for any replys.

    Any solution for this?

  • I just bought an Apple TV. I have found that I can only use my Ipod "remote" app for Apple

I just bought an Apple TV. I have found that I can only use my Ipod "remote" app for Apple TV products and not with my Netflix app-the Home TV icon only shows with Apple products.
I had hoped that I could use my Laptop Pro for unrelated tasks while I watch a movie-I have chosen TV only on the drop down. I dont seem to be able to seperate the two

The movies do not download onto apple TV it shows them as purchased and you need to stream them down. If you want to show your purchased music on Apple TV you need to sign up for iTunes Match.
There seem to be a few glitches with iTunes Match so i just use the computer icon to listen to music on my computer through Apple TV. If you have your Movies and TV shows on your computer this is where you will find them.
The Movies and TV Shows buttons on the main page of Apple TV show you films and tv shows you have purcahsed or cen rent or purchase.
You can also sync your Photos over as well. Method is slightly different in that in iTunes on the computer
File > HomeSharing > Choose photos to share with Apple TV

  • HT4352 I lost my remote for apple tv and would like to use my ipad mini as the remote.  Is this possible?

I am not sure if I can program or whatever my ipad mini to use as the renote for our apple tv.  We cannot find the remote and I thought I read somewhere tht one can set up their ipad device to act as a remote for apple tv.  I could be wrong.  Maybe it means sharing some other thisngs between computers but not usinghte ipad as a remote for apple tv.  Any information abou this mater would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    scima

Only if you've already setup home-sharing on ATV and both are on the same network.
The remote app is available from the App Store

Can i use my imac as second monitor for my  pc / notebook

Without any knowledge of the year machines you have it's impossible to answer that question. iMacs adn MBA's have been around for many years now so we have no idea of the exact specs your machine have. Remember when posting you need to be complete and paint a picture for us as we aren't there to look for ourselves. Your question should be  posted something like:
" I have a 2011 27" iMac and a 2009 MacBook Air, can I use the iMac as an external display for my MacBook Air?"
BTW what you are referring to is called Target Display Mode. Apple does support that on some 2009-2011 iMacs. You can find additional information at:

    Can I use 27' iMac(Later 2009) as a display for Mac Pro(future 2013)?

    See > http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11302
To be able to use the iMac as an external display, the Mac Pro should come with a Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt port, so think that it will include Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt, although we don't know anything.
To connect the iMac to the Mac Pro, as your iMac has got a Mini DisplayPort, you have to use a Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable (Thunderbolt is compatible with Mini DisplayPort cables, but Mini DisplayPort isn't compatible with Thunderbolt cables). Then, just follow the steps of the page above to use the iMac as an external display
