When will Apple ever make it convenient for the customer, I just bought an iPad Air and I'm very upset that I can only use iMessage, iPads are the biggest mistake to buy if you like texting family and friends. I'll never buy another one if I can't text using SMS or MMS.  Is there any hope for a patch or new operating system to fix this issue, or an app to use with iPad Air

  • If i bought an Iphone 6 from usa (contract free,T-mobile) can i use in srilanka (outside the usa) ? and to activate it should i have t-mobile sim?

if i bought an Iphone 6 from usa (contract free,T-mobile) can i use in srilanka (outside the usa) ?
and to activate it should i have t-mobile sim ?

As Ethmoid says, it is still a CDMA phone as I told you earlier, and it will not work with t-mobile. Even if Sprint unlocked the phone, it would only unlock the GSM side for international use. They will not unlock the GSM side for domestic use in the US.

  • Can I use an iPad 2 from USA in the UK ?

Thinking of getting an iPad 2 from USA , which someone will fetch me . Thinking of getting the wifi version , but just wondering if it will work ok . People have been writing on the net that they have problems with the app store etc ??
I'm worried that if I get it I'm going to have problems .
    Anybody have any insight ?

On the iPad 1 this is no problem. Works fine. App store is related to the billing address of your credit card, so unless you have a US credit card, you'll have to use the UK app store. (Mostly the same apps.)
No reason to expect this to be different with iPad2, as this is not a hardware issue, but software, so all iOS device work in the same way. And all work as described above.
    Good luck!

  • I want to buy and use an iPad in the USA whilst on holiday, will it work still if I take it back to the UK?

I can't seem to find a discussion that says 'I bought my iPad and used it in the USA' as this is what I want to do and then take it back with me when I go back to England.
    Many thanks in advance,
    James

The iPad is probably higher than your personal allowance
if so VAT and and duty is payable depending on how long you are in US
If you do't declare the iPad and get caught ,not worth thinking about
in terms of cost and possible penalties
Google personal allowance to find out details from HMC&E

  • HT4157 I have an iPhone with a data plan through AT&T.  I just got an iPad.  Do I need to set up a separate data plan, or can I use my iPad under the plan I have set up for my iPhone?

I just got an iPad, and am trying to figure out how to get it going.  I have an iPhone with a data plan through AT&T.  Do I need to set up a separate account for the iPad, or can I use it under my existing data plan?

You need a completely different data plan for your iPad which you set up on the device itself and it is billed to a credit/debit card. You cannot share other plans and the iPad account will not appear on your iPhone or any other AT&T account.

  • Can I use Australian iPad 2 in USA

Do I need anything special to charge an Australian purchased iPad2, iPad3 and two iPhone  4 using USA power supply?
Australia uses 240v and the USA 110/120v. Can I just get a wall socket adapter and the power adapters I already have will do the rest?
So hard to find any nice clear easy to understand travel information like this.

Yes Queensland (the state where Cairns is) is very much our Florida. Usually great weather, beautiful beaches, the Reef and tropical North. Amazing place - just be sure you do lots of research on all the animals and plants that can do you damage ;).
If you do come here I highly recommend visiting the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree Rainforest and if you can get there, the WA coast (go to the Ningaloo Reef and swim with a whale shark) - the closest town is Exmouth which incidentally is a town that was established to service the nearby USA military communications base!

  • Can't use BBC iplayer in the USA

BBC gives UK residents the ability to download TV shows using something called iPlayer. Howerver, it some how compares my IP address with it's database of all UK ISPs and figures out I'm not in the UK and so it won't let me download any shows.
I have had no success in finding a way to mask my IP address, or "map" to a proxy server in the UK
Does anyone know of any software app, or other way (any VPNs in UK for example) to do this on my iMac. I have just tried NetShade. It lists no public proxy servers in UK, and it's private one is some where here in the US.
I would hate to have to go back to Bimbows again having just switched to Mac OS.

iPlayer is only for the United Kingdom because the content is supplied by the BBC for which TV licence fee payers, like myself have paid for.
If the people in the USA and other parts of the world wish to view BBC content on the internet via the proprietary software, i would be allow them to use my private proxy server, provided they make a financial contribution to myself for the privilege.

  • Can i use my ipad outside of USA, does the voltage support UK, China,Japan?

I do a lot of traveling, just wondering will charging support in those countries?

Yes, I use the same iPad and same Apple charger in the UK, China and US.  The charger that comes shipped from Apple handles all standard voltages.  The only thing you may need is to adapt the plug head.
You can buy the expensive kit from Apple or just use any of the standard universal plug adapters available (I use the one from Kensignton).

  • Can I use my ipad if the WiFi sources are locked?

I have the WiFi and cellular options on my ipad.  I often go to a building to work where I cannot get password access to the in-house routers.  Because the ipad I purchased also receives cellular signals, I was wondering whether this second option might be a "work-around" as far as checking my e-mail, going to a web address, etc.  My carrier is Verizon.
I'm not sure I explained this correctly from a techno perspective.

Yes you can use the cellular connection. That the idea behind it. Internet and email access even if you do not have access to WiFi.

You can use the phone with your australian number provided international roaming is enabled. You will be charged more ( for messaging & talking )than that in Australia since you will be using someone's else's network.
If my post has helped you please click the white star on the right

  • Can i use my ipad outside the country?

We will go back to Philippines and i want to bring my ipad mini with me. Will i be able to use it there?

Yes.  At worst, you will need a mechanical adapter so that the charger prongs fit into the receptacle holes.  The charger is electrically compatible with all power systems in the world.
    Here's an expensive option.

  • Can I use Itunes UK in the USA to download songs?

Would I need to uninstall my US version? Can I have both?

There is only one version of iTunes.
There are different iTunes stores for different countries.
In order to purchase from a country store, you need an account in that country.
    In order to get an acount in that country, you need;
A credit card issued form that country with a billing address in that country
    or
A gift card from that country with an address in that country.

  • Can i use an ipad on a flight

can i use my ipad on the plane?

Indeed you can, by putting it in airplane mode.
I travel London / Bangkok (12.5 hrs) return every month and use my iPad for watching movies I have either downloaded or made, use Keynote to make presentation and Office to catch up on some work.
I find that fully charged before I leave the battery gives me enough power for the flight, assuming 4-5 hours of videos then the remainder on other stuff. You can buy a power lead that plugs into the power socket of your seat's console (depending on the class you are flying) which takes away any worry about running out of power.
Also any apps that do not require an internet connection work OK. So you can play Angry Birds to your heart's delight

  • Can I use an iPad with 3G purchased in the USA in Brazil?

Can I use an iPad with 3G purchased in the USA in Brazil? The Apple iPad sold in the USA is configured to be used with the cellular networks operated by Verizon and AT&T. What I am wondering is whether either of those networks can work with the cellular companies that operate in Brazil? Does anyone know?
    Thanks
    Luis

No if the iPad was purchased for Verizon's network which is a CDMA network. The iPad for Verizon's network does not have a SIM card slot.
Yes if the iPad was purchased for ATT's network which includes a SIM card slot. The GSM iPad sold in the U.S. is not sold as carrier locked.
