Can I use my Iphone 3Gs in another country?

Hi,
I'm got an Iphone 3GS awhile back and I'm planning to visit my home country (Philippines) for a month or so for an extended wedding/birthday of my sister.
I heard that Apple is connected with Globe Telecoms back in the Philippines. So I was wondering if I could use a Globe simcard for my Iphone while I'm at the country? It's currently locked to ATT. Do I need to go to Globe Telecoms there to be able to use a Globe simcard?
Any info/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

The iPhone is carrier locked to AT&T. A locked phone means no other SIM can work in it.
Now the phone can work out there, however, you have to call AT&T and temporarily add the option about being out of country (forget what they call it). It will cost a tab more to make calls and use data but it is far cheaper than paying roaming charges if you don't add it.
You are not going to find a way to use the iPhone with any other carrier's SIM (legally).

    I am in australia.can I use my iphone 3GS exchange iphone 4

    Sorry. That doesn't make sense.
If you're trying to ask if you can exchange an iPhone 3GS for an iPhone 4, no. Apple does not have an upgrade program that would allow you to do this. If your 3GS is not functioning, and you want an out of warranty exchange, you will be given the exact same model as you have now.

  • Can I use my iPhone 3Gs in Japan with a Japanese Sim-Card?

    Hi there,
three years ago I've been to Japan for an exchange study program and at that time I had a HTC but as far as I remember, since Japanese people didn't have Sim-Cards, I had to buy a brand-new Softbank's mobile phone.
So since I got another scholarship for Kyoto, I was wondering if something has been changing in these last three year and if I could eventually use my Italian iPhone 3Gs by inserting a Softbank o AU or Docomo's Sim-Card.
Thank you in advance for your precious help and sorry for my poor English

    Hello
You can only use your 3Gs in another country if it is NOT locked to an Italian carrier Or
you can get it unlocked if it is so restricted
I assume someone with knowledge of the Japanese market can comment on the availability of a suitable sim but your iPhone must be unlocked before you can use another carrier's sim

  • Use of Iphone 3Gs with another SIM card

I purchased an Iphone 3Gs in France from Orange without a contract, i.e. paid the full price and therefore it should be unlocked. I now want to use it for trips and put another SIM card in it. Now after resetting it, it simply tells me that the SIM is invalid... Any suggestions?

Call Orange.  Even though it should have been unlocked, they still lock it until you ask them to unlock it.  They're obligated to unlock it, so don't let them tell you otherwise.

  • Can't use my iPhone 3GS after trying to download iOS6?

I do I Reset my iPhone 3GS after trying to download iOS6?

    To echo Tim:
Was your phone jailbroken or unlocked by someone other than the carrier it was originally locked to before you updated? If so, it's now permanently bricked.
If this is not the case, you should be able to force restore in Recovery Mode:

  • You can't used 3G when traveling to another country

I live in Canada but I found a new problem with AT&T when trying to get your 3G working when you travel to the states. You have to sign up with with a US address for the 3G to work. I don't have a US address and credit card too only one from Canada. It's a catch 22. Apple says it's unlocked but you can't used unless you have a US address.
So I would like to know how can you use iPad 3G when you travel to US or any other place in the world.. WiFi yes but why buy a 3G when you can't connect to AT&T. AT&T should make plans for people who travel in the US.

Rogers comes with a Micro Sim card with the iPad.
Once the iPad ships in Canada, I'm sure it will. Have you asked Rogers what their plans are for international travelers with an iPad purchased in the U.S. or in another country when the iPad 3G is available in other countries in regards to purchasing a data plan?
The iPad 3G was just released in the U.S., and it isn't available in other countries yet. Obviously the 3G sold in the U.S. is currently set up to have a data plan with AT&T. In order to have a data plan with AT&T for the iPad at the present time, you need to have a credit card with a U.S. billing address, and the billing address must be in an area where AT&T has coverage. They have coverage in most or many places, but not all. No carrier in the U.S. has 100% coverage over every square mile.
This may change for international travelers, but the iPad 3G was just released in the U.S. on Friday and isn't available in any other countries yet.

  • Can I use my Samsung Charge in another country ?

If I replace the LTE card with a SIM card from another country, will it work ??

Actually, it can be used in many countries - including Japan and China where I travel frequently.  Verizon is partnered with carriers in many countries.  BUT it is only CMDA, and it does not have a GSM SIM for example, so you are locked into using these partners only, and the voice charges are steep (like $1.99 a minute) and data rates ridiculous.
Because of the high rates, I only use text messaging except for urgent calls, and turn off data.
Bought an inexpensive GSM phone to use in China - got a number in-county, and it is very inexpensive, even to make international calls.  Use that same phone in the U.S. as a backup (major carrier other than Verizon in the U.S.) (I can recharge the account on-line to ensure the number remains active, even if not using it for months).
Contact Verizon helpful service at 611 and they will give you straight skinny to answer specific countries and rates.

Now the deal here is, iOS 6 is out now, so in order to complete the instructions and restore it with iTunes, you have to update to iOS 6. I decided to keep 5.1.1, so I did NOT restore the phone. I checked a couple IMEI checker sites, and they all said my IMEI was unlocked, so rather than use iTunes, I just replaced the AT&T SIM with an O2-UK SIM card I had when using my Android phone in England. I was pleased to see T-Mobile show up as my carrier when I turned the iPhone on, and in Settings, it shows O2 as the carrier instead of AT&T, due to the O2 SIM being installed. Then a moment later, I got texts saying what my remaining British £ balance is, since I had leftover money on the SIM from my last trip, and another text said "Welcome to America, have a nice trip!"
The phone isn't jailbroken or anything like that. It's still on 5.1.1 with the proper, working Google mapping. Never restored via iTunes. Never updated to iOS 6. Any SIM card works. No tricks or hacks. You don't have to restore the phone to complete the unlock.

  • Can i use my iPhone sim in another phone?

My iPhone wont turn on! Ive tried holding the two buttons for up to 5 minutes at a time and putting it on the charger and Nothing
I was thinking can i take out my Sim card and put it in another phone? What about in a another phone not a iPhone?
    HELP im dying here

You don't. The iPhone stores no data on the sim card. The only thing on an iPhone sim card is your carrier/provider account info.

  • Can you use old iPhone 3GS on Sprint?

I have a friend who has an old 3GS and offered it to me since my phone is older, I wanna get it off him. I know you can get them free with a 2 year contract, but I still have a year left and just wanna have the phone switched out. Is that possible or are the 3GS phones that Sprint carries now new models or something that support CDMA?

So I guess that means you've never heard of China, Japan, Canada, Mexico, and many of the countries in the Carribean?

  • Can you use a Iphone 3GS charger with an ipad2?

I don't want to damage my new iPad that I bought over in the US that obviously came with a American charger!

i've tried various ones but i will have to admit they were 3rd party dock cables.. like energizer and i could never seem to get them to attach to my iphone 4, so i gave up. im pretty sure when the iphone 4 came out they did away with the little tabs on the side that you depress to attach or let go of the cable and i assumed it was these tabs that prevented energizer's brand of dock cable from staying put. ill try again i guess. i've tried like 3 different models and none of them seemed
to fit and i don't want to force it
