It didn't work for me during my February 2013 visit to Switzerland. The Personal Hotspot feature on my iPhone 4S works fine when I am in the US. Upon arrival in Switzerland, my phone connected to the Swisscom network. Phone calls, SMS, Web, and E-mail worked fine on the iPhone. Funny is the Personal Hotspot feature completely disappeared from the settings menu while there. It reappeared once I was back in the US.

Indeed you can. Beware of data roaming, charges, however, where you are charged through the nose for a data connection abroad. Your phone company may sell overseas data plans, or you may consider getting a SIM card for one of the providers of the country you're visiting.
You can turn off data roaming in Settings --> General --> Network --> Turn Data Roaming to 'off'.

How can I use my iPhone earpods as a headset on a bootcamp Mac? for TS3 or Skype

I would like to use my iPhone earpods as a headset. This works perfectly on Mac OSX but for gaming I use bootcamp with Windows 8. There it seems to be impossible to use the earpods as headset, only the sound but not the mic works.
I would be really happy if someone could help me cause the mic of the macbook pro is too near to the fans so it is really loud on skype/TS3

I can confirm that you can use your original iPhone as an iPod (mine works fine after removing the SIM) and wireless looks like its working although I can't connect but this is probably because I've removed it from my router.
The ATT employee is talking rubbish - you're permitted to do what you want with it, it is yours after all!

My family has two computers, two iPads, and an iPhone. My wife has different tastes in music than I do and purchases wayyyyy too much music that I consider "noise". Additionally, she has well over 400 playlists. I don't want to have to see all the playlists on my computer but occasionally she will create one for me on her computer. But now, every playlist on her computer shows up on mine, and every song on her computer shows up on mine. Is there a way I can delete some of the songs from my computer (and some of the playlists) without it removing the songs/playlists from the cloud?

If the Personal Hotspot feature is not visibily in Settings, then it is either not enabled by your carrier or it has to be enabled by your carrier first (probably also accompanied with an additional monthly fee).

Every time I switch on the iPhone, the iTunes icon is displayed together with a USB icon and Emergency call message appears on the screen in many languages. When I touch the i symbol I get the following information IMEI: **** AND ICCID: ****
However, the iphone is visible in the Devices directory in iTunes. I changed my SIM card but still can not be recognized by the iPhone.

Do you mean when you say its locked to another carrier other then the one im using, that maybe my insurance sent me an iphone thats for a different network for example orange and not mine which is o2?
