Can I use my Recovery CD for Satellite A50 to repaire my WXP?

Dear sir/madam
I am a Student and I have a Toshiba A50 laptop. I have a system problem in my computer. when I was running an adware remover program the computer got stuck and when I tried to restart the computer, the computer starts and goes to the windows welcome screen(windows xp) and then the computer screen goes blank (or black).
When I restarted my computer it goes to this option screen where it gives, safe mode, last good configuration mode, etc.. I tried to start in safe mode, and in last good configuration mode, but nothing happened , the black screen appear after the windows welcome screen.
My friend advice me to do a windows XP repair. I have the Toshiba product Recovery CD, which I got when I purchased the laptop. My question is can I do a Windows xp repair from this CD ?
I booted my computer from this product recovery CD. It gave me 3 optons as below
1 Recover entire hard disk
Warning- all store data on your computer will be lost. Factory pre installed software will be installed/
2 Expert Recovery
Warning- this is for pc experts only. Factory pre installed software can be installed onto an existing (bootable) partition.
3 Exit
I need to recover all my files from my hard disk. That's my main concern.
So do you guys think that I can do a Windows xp repair from this product recovery CD?
Thanks
Robert

Hi Robert,
No you cannot use the recovery CD to repair your Windows installation. The Recovery CD can only be used to fully restore your operating system to its original condition when you first obtained it.
If you want to use the Windows recovery console then you will need to obtain a genuine Microsoft installation CD.
If your notebook has only one partition (the C: drive) then using the recovery CDs will effectively reformat your hard drive and will overwrite all your own data and files.

  • How can I get a recovery disk for Satellite P300-1CI?

    Hi everybody,
first, sorry for my english, I'm a belgian and I speak french.
Yesterday I bought a toshiba Satellite P300-1CI, when I started, I must installed Vista home.
I would like to format my disk and reinstall my old Windows XP.
My question is : How can keep an image disk with Vista? I don't have an installation disk of Vista and don't know my registration key of it.
How can I have a recovery disk ?
    Can you help me please.
PS : Sorry for my english

    Hi mate
User manual is really interesting document and in most cases it answer all you questions ;)
Anyway, the Toshiba recovery disk should be created before you would format and install on the HDD.
You have to use the preinstalled Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator application in order to create the Recovery DVD.
    Now to you other question;
The Vista image which is preinstalled and placed on the Recovery disk (after recovery disk has been created) is activated already and you dont need to insert any keys or activate anything.

    Hi:
You can probably downgrade your Vista notebook to XP, but you don't have a license (downgrade rights) to do that from Microsoft.
Normally, only business notebooks and desktops were given downgrade rights to XP due to the risk of companies operations grinding to a halt because of software incompatiblities with some programs and Vista.
Personally, it would be better anyway to move on up to Windows 7.
Since your notebook came with Vista, it can run Windows 7. For any missing drivers you may have you can normally use the Vista drivers on your notebook's support and driver page.
Additionally, you may want to read through this dv2000 upgrade guide for Windows 7.

  • From where can I get the Recovery Disk for Satellite P200-113

    Hi,
Can somebody tell me where I can purchase a recovery disk for formatting my satellite P200-113, or is there any place to buy it in South Africa?
Thank you, and expecting quick response

    Hello
I don't know where you bought your notebook but if you have European notebook model please visit https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx and check if you can order it there.
Other way contact nearest Toshiba authorized service provider. They can order it for you.

  • Can I use same recovery disk for two identical computers?

I own two PCs, model m8034n, which were identical when I bought them. If I order a Windows Vista recovery disk for one of them (specifying the serial number when I order), will I be able to use it to restore the other computer to its factory condition?

I imagine as long as the Vista versions are the same on both computers it would be OK to use it.  No guarantee it will work but you may try.

  • Cannot use created recovery discs for Satellite A350-134

Emm I really hope you can help me.
The Notebook said that you have to create the Recovery Disk by yourself and thats what I did ( on 2 Cds)
So i wanted to reinstall my Notebook and put in the first cd and booted from CD. So i came into the Menu.
Then after a while it asked me to put in the second CD and I did it. Then it said there was a error copying the last 2 files needed.
So now i cant create the Recovery Disk again because I already started the reinstalling. now i have a few questions
What can i do generally ? Because I really dont want to buy for 35 euros a new Recovery Disk :S
I thank everyone who helps me :D

If you want to have factory settings you must install recovery image from recovery disc.
If your discs dont work you must use original Toshiba recovery disc.
My opinion is that you should install Win7 32bit on this machine. I do it on friends A350 and it runs perfectly.

  • Re: Where can I get a recovery disc for Satellite P105-S921

I made the mistake of buying my laptop second hand and it has so many problems i cant use it at all
I dont have a recovery disc and thought that maybe that would fix my problems
I am not very computer litterate
    thanks

    Hi!
You can create the recovery disks with the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator. Normally it is preinstalled on the laptop.
If you are not able to burn it, you can order a new disk here:

  • Can I use a recovery disc on a new 120 GB SSD for HP Envy 17 that previously had 2 500GB RAID 0?

I currently have a HP Envy 17-2070NR.  I would like to install a new SSD (120 GB) to replace one of the 500 GB HD that are currently in the laptop (the 2 drives are set up RAID 0).
If I install the new drive and remove the two old ones can I use the recovery discs to reinstall windows/drivers/default programs?

The 500GB MyBook Pro should work fine. Just be sure to use a Firewire connection (not USB) to your Mac and format the drive as Mac OS Extended - Journaled. It will come from the factory as FAT32, so you'll need to reformat it. But wait - don't reformat it until you offload the ButtonManager, FW Driver and Retrospect software. You will need the first two to install your drive.
And that's one of the reasons I stay away from the MyBook drives - they were really designed for Windows systems, not Macs. For one, they have their own FireWire drivers and I see no reason to be required to install device-specific drivers on my Mac in order to use a consumer-grade hard drive. As far as I'm concerned, that's just bad design (or, perhaps design for systems other than Macs ...).
The 500GB Lacie Big Disk did get a bunch of bad reviews. However, the 500GB Lacie d2 Extreme is the same price and has much better reviews. The Lacie d2 Extreme drives are quite reliable; I have many and not one of them has failed me over the years. The 320GB d2 Extreme is currently $140 at newegg.com. See how that compares to the price of the MyBook.

  • My LG Optimus Zone is having software issues and I can't access the Recovery Menu for a Factory Reset

My LG Optimus Zone is having software issues and I can't access the Recovery Menu for a Factory Reset. It was working fine until I went to activate it and update the PRL. It turns on, but Freezes on the LG Logo. it currently goes into the LG Download Mode, and When I restore with LG's Mobile Support Tool, It finishes, reboots, and stays at the boot Logo. I was wondering if I can possibly get a replacement phone? This is a little upsetting, as i was hoping to have it transfered from prepaid to postpaid service next month

I forgot my password and could not open until it is said "connect to iTunes". I connected to iTunes. for three hours, I restored it. But it is still not restarted. what can I do? I can not use my iPad 3 for three days. Please help me!

Try and force your iPad into Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.

You will only know about the hard drive when you try to access it in TDM from your other computer. If you cannot boot into TDM mode or if the drive does not appear on the new computer's Desktop then it is likely bad.
What you are thinking about as a recovery disk is the Recovery HD normally created when you install Lion or later on the computer. You boot from it as follows:
    Boot Using Command+R keys:
      1. Restart the computer.
      2. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the
"COMMAND" and the "R" keys together.
      3. Release the keys when the Utilities Menu appears.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
iTunes and iCloud and different accounts, you will need to delete both accounts from your device before adding the new details in their place.
For iCloud go to settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit the delete button. You can then sign back in using your correct details. For iTunes go to settings >store, tap your account ID and then sign out, you can then sign back in using your correct Apple ID.
