Can I use my thunderbolt display without charging my macbook pro?
First off- Here's what I have-
2012 13 inch Macbook Pro
2.5 GHz Intel core i5
8GB RAM
Stock 500GB 5400rpm HDD
Mountain Lion OSX
Anyone know how I can use my thunderbolt without charging my Macbook Pro?
Also, my Thunderbolt jack, port, and my overall computer get really hot when I'm using my display. Anyone else have this issue?
Thanks!
Ohhh I see it now.... The thing is I only have 13 cycles on my battery, but the max is only 92% percent charge... I thought that would be the charger charging my MBP and using the battery at the same time.... Another thing, would you happen to know why I have a max of 92% charge and only 13 cycles? (Two different apps are telling me the same thing...)

Can I use my Thunderbolt Display with my PS3?
Hi there, I have recently purchased a Thunderbolt Display and I was wondering if I could use it with my PS3. I know I'll need a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter, but will I need anything else like a converter or can I plug it straight in?
ThanksA Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter can connect a HDMI display to a Thunderbolt port. It does not work in the other direction. If the PS3 has no Thunderbolt port, you can't use a Thunderbolt display. There are no adapters or converters that can help.

What cable can I use to transfer data from a 2008 MacBook Pro to a new MacBook Pro with thunderbolt?
You should also ask this in the MacBook Pro forum. This is the forum for the 13” white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

When you refer to 10.8.5 supplemental is this a separate upgrade ? When I connect the Thunderbolt to the MBP the Thunderbolt charges my MBP & I can play music from iTunes via the Thunderbolt. It is only the display that is not working on the Thunderbolt

There's nothing at the Apple Store. Whatever you need you will have to get elsewhere. You can download Mountain Lion if you have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and an Apple ID. See:
Upgrading to Snow Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion
Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will receive physical media - DVD - by mail.
Third-party sources for Snow Leopard are:
Snow Leopard from Amazon.com
Snow Leopard from eBay
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store.
Before upgrading check that you computer meets the minimum requirements:
Snow Leopard General requirements
1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
2. 1GB of memory
3. 5GB of available disk space
4. DVD drive for installation
5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may
apply.
6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Upgrading to Lion
First, you need to upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 as stated above.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
Before upgrading check that you computer meets the minimum requirements:
Lion System Requirements
1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or
Xeon processor
2. 2GB of memory
3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
4. 7GB of available space
5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Upgrading to Mountain Lion
Be sure your computer meets the minimum requirements:
Apple - OS X Mountain Lion - Read the technical specifications.
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
7. Xserve (Early 2009)
Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps - App compatibility and feature support for OS X & iOS.
Am I eligible for the free upgrade?
See Apple - Free OS X Mountain Lion upgrade Program.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Apple - Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mountain Lion. -

Can I use a thunderbolt display with an hdmi converter to a PC?
I bought a Thunderbolt display, and have seen a ThunderBolt/MiniDisplay Port to hdmi converter.
Is it possible to use a ThunderBolt display as PC display if I use this converter?
thanks!Probably not. Unlikely. The ThunderBolt/MiniDisplay Port-to-hdmi converters are intended for connecting the thunderbolt port on an Mac to an HDMI input on a display or TV. You can't assume these converters work backwards and without knowing exactly what converter you are talking about, and what video out your pc has ... it's impossible to say.
I would add that one should think long & hard about risking a $1000 Apple thunderbolt display by connecting it to something it wasn't designed for. -
CAN I USE MYApple Cinema Displays WITH MY MAC BOOK PRO
CAN I USE MYApple Cinema Displays WITH MY 13"mac book pro
Your 2014 MacBook Pro should have 2 Thunderbolt ports and 1 HDMI port. We need to find out what plug your Cinema Display has.
Does the Plug look like this:
http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/dvi-cables/dviiplug.jpg
If so, then its a DVI connector. And you would need a Thunderbolt/Mini Display Port to DVI adapter.
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB570Z/B/mini-displayport-to-dvi-adapter
If not, look on the underside of the Display's frame or base/stand, there should be a model number there.
