Can I use my USA-purchased HP 6800 Series printer in Europe?

I'm moving to Europe and have several computers and printers that I want to take with me.  I know I can use my PC's, but I want to take my printers, too.  They don't appear to have a 110/220 switch on them, but I don't know if I can use converters/adapters to get them to work.

Hi
My goodness you are making me work through my memory for this one.  That printer my be 5 or 6 years old now. I believe that you should be able to use your printer from an electric viewpoint.  However, you will also have to have your printer reset to accept European region cartridges.
1. Electricity
I managed to find a work colleague who still has one of these printers and you should be OK as long as you check the power block (black box) that is on the power cable.  If you look at the specifications that are molded into the block it should say that it allows 100 - 220V.  If so, then you just need a standard power cable that goes from the wall plug socket into the power block.  If the power block says it only handles 100-120V then you will need to get a complete new power lead with a 100-220V power block.
2. European region cartridges
Once you clear up your power issues you then have to get your printer reset so that it will accept european region cartridges.  For this you will need to call HP support.
If I remember correctly you will probably have to be in your destination european country before your printer can be reset because you may need the european supplies in order for the reset to work but maybe check with HP support before you leave the USA.
Here is a link to a document explaining what you need to do.

Hope that this helps

  • Can I use my Officejet 6500 709a with HP e-print

I have recently got a Samsung Galaxy Tablet and would like to print from it can I use my Officejet 6500 709A on hp e-print?

    Hey midnite1rc,
The Officejet 6500 (E709a) series does not have the ability to connect to the web services server to obtain an ePrint code.  However, if you are using the ePrint app and have the Officejet 6500 connected to the same network as the Android device, then you can print to the 6500 using the Android device.  However, you will not have full ePrint access such as creating a custom email address for the printer and printing from anywhere in the world by emailing the printer.
    Hope this helps clarify,
    Jason

  • HT201311 Can I use personal hotspot as wifi to connect AirPrint printer?

Can I use personal hotspot as wifi to connect AirPrint printer and print?
    Thanks. Appreciate your help.

Yes, that should work at least temporarily.  Some printers are not constantly looking for WiFi networks, however, so you'll have to make sure the hotspot is setup and active every time you turn your printer on.

No converter needed.  The adapter is rated for worldwide voltages, 110-240 VAC.  You will only need a plug adapter.

  • Can i use a USA apple gift card in the UK

Hi please can i convert my apple gift card that i bought in the US. Is it possible that i can use the gift card in the UK, or perhaps i you can convert it. I've had this gift card for almost a year since i got back from US.
    Thank You for your time.

Expanding on what Niel said, you can neither use that card in the UK nor get Apple to convert it (and we're all just fellow users here, by the way). Give or sell the card to someone in the US.
    Regards.

  • Can I use my Time Machine as an airport to print from my Ipad?

I want to use the airprint, but my printer does not have that utility. I read in another apple support, that I could use a computer as an airport.
Can I use my Time Machine as an airport for the airprint, between my Ipad and my printer?

No. Time Machine is just backup software. If you have a networkable printer that you can connect to the computer then you could possibly print to it wirelessly via your network if you enable printer sharing in your router.

    Windows? Mac?
Did you go to your printer manufacturer's website and download the latest driver for your printer? If not, do so. See if this fixes the issue. If so, stop reading.
Have you tried making a generic printer the default? When you go to print, your printer should show up as an choice in the pull down menu after you hit Print.

  • Can I use my USA IPAD in Africa

I want to know if I can use a convert plug only or do I need to get a transformer too.  South Africa power is 220 can the IPAD handle that? We use 110 here in the USA.

Your iPad power adapter is rated 110/220 volts, 50/60 Hz so that is not a problem in SA. You may need to purchase a wall plug adapter either before you leave the U.S. or after arriving in SA. Walmart, Best Buy, Amazon, Radio Shack or travel/luggage stores here in the US for example will have them.

  • Can I use a USA macbook air in the UK without issue?

    Hello all
I am acutely aware of the customs and taxation issues that occur with buying from abroad, but I wanted to know if there are issues with:
Voltage; US sockets are 120v and UK are 240v. I know the macbook air's tech specs state that they can handle line voltage of 100-240v and a Hertx rate of 50-60Htz, which should make it ok, but not sure...
Software; apart from converting everything into proper english (), will I be limited in the compatability dept (e.g. can I download from UK Mac App store and install UK software without issue), etc.?
Repairs; can I take it to a UK Apple store and will my warranty still be valid?
Thanks, hope you all enjoy your mac as much as me !
    Regards,
    Mohammad Syed

All you need is a suitable adapter to allow the 2 pin power prong or 3-pin cable to plug into a UK outlet. Apple sell an international adapter set (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB974ZM/B?fnode=MTY1NDEwMQ) which, at $39, is really a bit overkill for travel to one location, when a quick search on Amazon for 'UK Travel Adapter' provides a number of options closer to $5.... and which would do the job perfectly well - you can find the same adapters in Amazon's UK store too, so you can get them once you arrive there if you prefer.

You'll need to create an account in the UK store, but there is nothing to prevent you installing and using UK-sourced software along with already installed US applications.

Yes. Apple warranties on laptops are international. Make sure you have proof of purchase with you and you should be good to go.
