Can I use my Verizon iPhone in Japan?

Can I use my Verizon iPhone in Japan?

I just used my iPhone 4S in Tokyo and Kyoto. (June 2013) It works perfectly on their CDMA system there, even though I am an AT&T (GSM) subscriber in the US.
It seems that, unlike the earlier iPhone models, the 4S is both CDMA and GSM compatible.  Be careful though, unless you buy a Data Plan from Verizon before you leave the US, the use of their 3G internet access will be really expensive, if you enable "Data Roaming" while traveling there.  Also check to see if you can purchase an international calling plan that reduces the per-minute rate while traveling in Japan, before you depart.  Do the same for text messaging.

I recently went to Italy (for business March 2011).  I have a Verizon iPhone 4 (CDMA), and called Verizon before I went.  They said "No, It would not work" only the WiFi.  However, I did see some Italians using iPhone 4 (I could tell it was iPhone 4 since it looked exaclty like mine (rectangle, and not "curved corners").  So I guess, if you switched to an Italian network probably Vodafone it could work.
Vodaphone is not a CDMA network, a Verizon iPhone will not work, an AT&T iPhone will work.

  • Can I use a Verizon iPhone 5S with a Japanese au SIM?

I was wondering if anyone knows if I can use a Verizon iPhone 5S on Japan's au with an au SIM card???
(Verizon iPhone 5S comes factory unlocked and freely accepts GSM nano SIMs from other US carriers. This question is specifically for people with firsthand knowledge of American phones working on Japanese networks with Japanese SIM cards.)
I'll be living in Japan for just 7 more months, so it doesn't make sense to buy an impossible-to-unlock Japanese iPhone now. I'll be back on Verizon when I move back to the States, so if I can use an American Verizon phone on au, I would love to buy one right now while I'm home in Hawaii for the holidays.

  • What prepaid service can I use my verizon Iphone 5 on

Recently about a month ago there was a commercial on tv that was a no contract Cellphone Carrier that advertised I could take my iPhone5 to their service.  Unfortunately through my infinite wisdome I thought I had bookmarked their page and I had not.  I was hoping that someone here can help me find their service as I am tired of Verizons BS games like trying to say I was in Canada Mexico and IL all that the same time according to their system.  Then their wonderful rep after being told not to changed my data package from 6 gb to 2 gb causing me to go over my data and when I called them to find out why I was over my data I was told I could not go back to the package I had as it was no longer offered as I was getting the 6 gb for 20 bucks a mo and the 2 gb was 20 bucks a mo as well and for me to go back ot it I was looking at 60 bucks.  I could swear the company's name started with an A I know its a long shot but they said I could use the verizon Iphone with them and they just had to ship me a new sim card for it and it was good to go.  Please help as I need to get my phone working again my mother has cancer and this is the only way I can communicate with her right now is over my phone.

The Verizon iphone can only be used with Verizon in the U.S.
I have a iPhone 5 that I use on Verizon which is CDMA. I can also use that phone on any GSM carrier in the U.S. and abroad. The phone is not locked to Verizon. Even with Verizon I need a Verizon sim. I paid full price for the phone to get an unlocked phone.

  • Can i use my 3G iphone in japan?

i am in tokyo now and i am triing to use my 3G iphone, i was told by a AT&T rep. that i would have no trouble using my phone in japan. Well i am here now and my phone does NOT work. i have been to japan before and i know that japan runs on 2100khz , i do not think the iphone is capable of doing that but it does have 3G so i am unsure. Again i believed the AT&T rep. (dumb) and tried anyway, so now i m here and it doesn't work.
    CAN ANY ONE HELP ?

thanx for the help....of course it was AT&T (the worlds worst cell coverage/company), some how they forgot to turn on my roaming. and it cost me about $40 in hold time to get it on, the reason why i called before i left. so the phone works fine, everything works.
so my advice is insist tat they tll you repeatedly that your roaming is on, not that it works, because to AT&T "it works" doesn't really mean it works, but it means " it can work if you wait on hold for 45 min after you have already got where you are going"
    thanx agian

  • Can i use a verizon iphone 5c for tmobile

My friend has an iPhone 5c for verizo and she said I could but it from her and use it with tmobile is that true because i have heard that verizon iPhone 5, 5s, and 5c all come factory unlocked and could be used for any GSM carrier even after its been activated for verizon is that true?

Yes, but it won't work on the T-Mobile LTE network.

  • Can I use a verizon iphone to at&t

I am thinking about buying an iphone but it is for verizon can i switch it over to at&t ?

No. A Verizon-model iPhone 4 is a CDMA phone and is usable only with Verizon. If you want to have AT&T as your carrier, you need an AT&T-locked or officially unlocked GSM iPhone.
    Regards.

No.  Best you can do is try for auctions on gift cards, or look at the daily deals at 2pm EST for points only cards.

That's an interesting question Chris let's look at the original text and parse it:

So the wifi iPad is what he's got and he's moving to japan in a month. Are we clear on that point? But when we get to the second sentence, "Can I use the verizon version of the ipad in Japan network? That's where I'm assuming he's not gotten the Verizon ipad YET. And that is how getting an AT&T iPad is going to solve his problem. Tx.
    The Verizon iPad has wifi.
I'm assuming he has a Verizon iPad (why else ask about Verizon?) and the OP simply did not specify "I just got an iPad 2 16GB, Verizon version".

  • Can I use my norwegian iPhone 4 in the US for a few weeks?

Can I use my norwegian iPhone 4 in the US for a few weeks?

So I have lived in Daegu, South Korea for 9 months now. And our iphones work perfectly.
Thankfully we didn't sell our phones in NZ, I had a look online and NZ doesn't lock IPhones to their networks like other countries.
We went to SKT (in Daegu / National University of Ed) and bought new simcards for $10 each.
Then signed up for contract / plans.
We pay roughly $50 a month for unlimited data, 200 minutes, 600 text messages.
It costs $9 to roam overseas a day.
We've managed to travel to Japan and Hongkong using our South Korean sims.
It' been pretty succesful for us.
All I can say is, do heaps of research peeps, and don't stress :-)

  • Can I use my NZ iPhone 4 in Korea?

My girlfriend and I both have iphones. Mine is from Vodafone NZ and I bought hers through the Apple store.
In a few weeks time we will leave NZ to live in Daegu, Korea for a year.
We would really appreciate it, if anyone knew what we should come to expect.
Can we use our NZ iphones in Korea?
    Thank you in advance...
