Can i use my wired xbox controller with a new game i just bought (call of duty 2)

can i use my wired xbox controller with a new game i just bought (call of duty 2

If you can find drivers for it (it could be partially supported already since OS X comes with a load of drivers build in)... I guess it could work.
I know some people use USB Overdrive to make stuff compatible, you might want to give it a spin: http://www.usboverdrive.com
Then again Microsoft does have a PC version of it: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/xbox-360-controller-for-windows#detail s

  • Can i use a 85 watt charger with a new macbook air

Can i use a 85 watt charger with a new macbook air that comes with a 45 watt charger. One says its 14.8 volts and the other is 20 volts.

To be clear, the wattage of the adapter is not the power delivered to the Mac, but rather the power the adapter is capable of delivering.
Think of it as the difference between a 200 HP and a 400 HP engine; both can drive at a certain speed with no issues, the difference is what happens if you floor the gas pedal.
The same is true between the higher wattage power adapter that comes with the iPad and the one that comes with iPhones; you can use the higher wattage adapter to charge and iPhone with no issue, but if you try and use the iPhone adapter to charge the iPad it may work, but it will take much, much longer.

  • Can I use the old power supply with the new unit?

I have a second generation Apple TV. When I install the new unit next week can I use the old power supply with the new one and the new power supply with the old one? This would save some messing with cords behind the units.

    Hello:
I would definitely not try that.....  The power supplies may be compatible - or may not be compatible.  I think messing with cables is a small price to pay for not potentially frying a new device.

  • Can i use my old IPOD dock with the new G5 IPOD?

Can i use my old IPOD dock with the new G5 IPOD?

That's really good to know. I thought because it was a different thickness you wouldn't be able to, and the dock adaptor that comes with the new iPods doesn't fit into the old Photo dock.
Do you know if you can use the charger that came with the old Photo iPods? You can plug straight into the power socket, but the cable that goes into the charger from the iPod is the firewire cable, so I was thinking maybe it wouldn't work, and I don't want to try it in case I short out my iPod or something!

  • Can I use my G3 ipod charger with my new G5 ipod?

I have just bought a new G5 ipod (80gig). As the new ones no longer ship with a charger in the box I was wondering whether I can still use the one that came with my old gen 3 ipod. The G3 charger is for a firewire connection and the G5 is now usb but if I connect the new ipod to the charger using the firewire cable that came with the G3 ipod using the dock connection will this work, or more importantly, do any damage. The link up would be : charger with firewire socket - firewire to dock cable- new 5G ipod dock connection socket.

Yes, no problem. I have an older firewire charger that I use all the time.

  • Can I use my current dock, etc. with my new Nano?

Question, I just received my 4GB Nano, I already own a 10GB 3rd Generation Ipod with a Dock (currently plugged into a belkin firewire card, but also has a USB 2.0 connector) I also have a Apple Ipod travel charger (apple model # A1004)which seems to plug right into the charging/transfer port perfectly. Can I use these accessories with my new Nano? Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

    OK,
    so your choices are
    1) see if you have a firewire to dock connector cable ("Apple iPod Dock Connector to FireWire Cable " $19 from Apple online store). If not, buy one from Apple or third party (Griffin Technology makes these cables, maybe a little less expensive). This will let you charge your nano with your existing firewire wall charger, BUT you won't be able to sync your nano with this cable (no big deal if all you do is use this cable to charge)
    2) purchase Apples USB wall charger "iPod USB Power Adapter ", $29. Advantage is you use the cable that came with your nano (less cable clutter).

  • Can i use an old power adapter with a new powerbook

I have an old powerbook AC adapter/charger from a previous powerbook that is dead. It is a 60 Watt charger Mod # 1184. Can I use it with the latest powerbook. It came with an 85 watt mod #1343? The shape of the connector is different but it seems to be the same kind of connection and fits fine. I haven't actually tried to use it to charge my laptop but it would be nice to have a spare charger. Thanks
    Les

There are no "new" Powerbooks any more. They were replaced by the MacBook Pro in 2006.
If the new computer is really a MacBook Pro and the old one is a PowerBook, adaptors are not interchangeable. Totally different connectors. All MacBook Pros use an 85W power supply; 15-inch PowerBooks used 45W and the 17-inch PowerBooks used 65W.
The MacBook and the MacBook Pro share the same magnetic connector, the MagSafe. Sounds like you have an older Macbook power supply--they are 60W.
A 60W MacBook Power Supply will "work" with a MacBook Pro but not fully service the computer. It will run the computer or charge the computer, but not both at the same time. I you have a very processor-intensive task running that can draw power from both the power adaptor AND the battery, you could be risking a shutdown.

  • Can I use the old MagSafe connector with the new MBP

I must say that I like the new style MagSafe connector that came with my new MBP. I would like to get an extra to leave in another room, but I'm not hot to pay $79 to Apple for one. I saw an 85 Watt old style connector on eBay for $35. Would the old style work on my new MBP? I don't want to screw it up just to save $44, but if it will work, why buy the $79 unit.
Basically, it would only be serving duty while my MBP is connected to my Time Machine.

As long as it is healthy it will work, Macaby.
Be wary of second hand units that haven't been tested though. Quite a few that haven't been well treated develop weakening of the wires at the points where they enter either the magnetic "head" or the body of the power block. At best these are likely to fail prematurely. At worst they may cause sparks to fly!
OWC sell tested second hand units for a price somewhere in between the eBay "used" price and the cost of a new one, that might be worth a look.
Be wary of cheap third party imitations. The extra few dollars is a small price to pay to avoid the catastrophic consequences that can occur if a badly made power adaptor happens to decide to start a fire!
    Cheers

i just bought my first imac (intel) and a wireless hp printer. i now realize that a wireless connection between my imac and my printer needs a router.
i have an airport express base station, which is a few years old. I can't find my documentation, so i don't know its specifications.

does that tell any knowledgeable people out there about the specs? can i search the apple website by serial number and find the specs?

  • How can I use an existing iTunes library with a new iTunes account

My daughter is going to college, and wants to untangle herself from the family iTunes account. Right now, we have three iPods with libraries on three computers, all using my iTunes account - and have had no problems.
She has signed up for a new account, but her previously purchased songs (on my account) won't play on her computer (new computer, iTunes is currently almost empty library), because it is authorized to HER iTunes account.
What is the best way to import her iTunes library that was created using my account onto her new computer? (Old library is on a PC, she now has an iBook, purchased used on eBay.) Is there any way to get these songs to play using her new account info? Can I maybe copy them somewhere without the metadata and then move them into her library? I realize that would lose ratings and other info, but would it get rid of the block? I'm not trying to do anything dishonest - these are personal iPods, personal computers, all within one family, we've paid for all music on them.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated!
(I posted this in the iTouch discussion, and then thought it wuold be better answered over here.)

Then can her computer be authorized to both accounts?
Absolutely. You can authorize any given computer to up to five iTunes Store accounts.
If purchases are made on her account, to a computer authorized to my account, can I put those songs on my iPod?
If you connect your iPod to her computer, yes. Tracks download only to the computer from which they're purchased, regardless of which iTunes Store account is used for the purchase. Or you could copy the tracks from her computer to yours and then authorize your computer to her iTunes Store account. But that's sort of defeating the original purpose, it would seem to me.
is it better to buy music through Amazon downloads and/or actually purchasing CDs to avoid the security features iTunes puts on its music?
That's certainly an option. If it's an entire album I want, I buy CDs. That way I can import them at the quality I want and to whichever of my systems I want. Amazon or one of the other download stores that offer tracks as MP3 are also an option, though for me download stores are best when you just want a couple of tracks off a given CD.

  • Can I use my Sprint Air Card with my new MacBook?

I have just purchased a new MacBook running OS 10.6.7 and I have access the Internet at home with a Sprint Air Card.  I was able to use it to connect to the Internet only once or twice, but now I can not connect at all.  I thought it was an automatic connection when I have the Air Card plugged in, but now I am wondering if there are some Network Settings that I need change.   Thanks for your help.

It will almost certainly not be possible. If you don't sign up for AT&T service for the iPad, then replace your Sprint card with a MiFi or Overdrive device from Sprint. This will use your Sprint service, but connect to your iPad using Wi-Fi. It also has the advantage of you being able to use it with any Wi-Fi capable device. IOW, you can use both your laptop and iPad at the same time with the MiFi or Overdrive, but only have to pay for one Sprint account. Of course, all devices that connect to the MiFi or Overdrive will use up your 5GB allotment, unless you use Overdrive in a 4G area. (Overdrive is unlimited on 4G, but has a 5GB cap in 3G areas.)

  • How can I use my external hard drive with my new (firewire-less) MacBook?

I read in another post that the available firewire adapters don't work for external hard drives. So how can I get my music, etc. off my external hard drive and onto my new computer?

Like the second or third one in this picture?
    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f4/USBtypes2.jpg
They are USB ports - the smaller one is a mini-USB (like you might find on a digital camera) and the third is a USB-B port (such as on a printer). You can use a mini or standard USB cable (depending on the port) to connect it to your Macbook.
