Can I use old Home Hub (White one) on Infinity ? M...

I upgraded to Infinity a few months ago.
The black v2.0 hub has developed a hardware fault......power light on, but can't connect to the DSL Modem.
I have tried all the resets (power......hard reset button, etc), and reported the fault.
A replacement is on order, but will take a few days to arrive.
I still have the old white Hub and was wondering if I could use that while I wait for the replacement v2.0 to arrive.
As users of BT Vision, it is a right pain having to wait for the new unit.
Any (relevent) advice appreciated..........

Is there an option on the signal box setup, to specify a static IP address?
If there is, then try the following settings.
IP address 192.168.1.50
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.1.254
DNS Server 192.168.1.254
You can then setup port forwarding to that static IP address.

Bt want old home hub back and i dont have it anymo...

Hi hope some one can help me with this. My old home hub got broken and I called bt on Sun 6th May for a new one. I received the new one on Tues 8th May.
A week later I received a letter from Bt informing me to return the old home hub back for recycling within two weeks or I may be charged for it.
My problem is that I wasnt told of this on the phone ( was told replacement hub would be free) and there was nothing in package the new hub came in either. I no longer have the old one as i have thrown in out.
I called bt and got nowhere. I was passed to many different people and left on hold many times. After 45mins of this I hung up. Now today I received a frrepost bag from BT to return the old hub.
Does anyone know how much I will be charged or is it a case of waiting till next bill comes in?

Hmm, IMHO BT should of told you this at the time you reported it
I'd say they now ask for the old one to be returned to prevent fraudulent 'claims' - NOT saying this is you, just a general example. Some may state theirs is broken, then sell it on a well known Internet auction site...

Yes, a separate power supply is strongly recommended. According Apple the firewire ports can deliver - depending upon computer type - between 7 watts and 15 watts at 9-12 VDC. This is not much, if you run a digital camcorder and an external harddisk at the same time, for example.

You can't, well not easily anyway. The iPad is not meant as a multi account device.
You can Sign Out of your iTunes account in Settings->iTunes and App Stores->Apple ID->Sign Out
However if you sign in with another ID and then download past purchases with it you will lock out the previous ID for 90 days. Which means it will not be able to be used on the iPad for 90 days.

Not via Time Machine. It cannot back up from a network location.
The 3rd-party apps CarbonCopyCloner and ChronoSync may be workable alternatives.
EDIT: And, if you're going to do that, you could back up from the Time Capsule to a USB drive connected to the TC's USB port. Second TC not required.

Another thing to note is that if your cell plan/carrier supports it (it's free with Verizon Shared plans), you can also use your mobile phone as a mobile hotspot (Personal Hotspot on iOS devices) and use your phone's data to access the internet on the iPad. I purchased an iPad 3 with Verizon 3G/4G cellular built-in but have never activated it. I instead use Personal Hotspot with my Verizon Wireless cellular (phone) plan. If you go this route, you can save money over purchasing a Wi-Fi/Cellular iPad and just choose the Wi-Fi model. I have a BT Infinity connection using a Home Hub 5, however the signal is poor or non existant in parts of my house. I have Cat5e wired to some of the rooms around my house, so could I connect 1 or 2 additional Home Hub 5s to extend/improve the signal? If this is possible is it easy to configure?
