Any DVD I rent from the red box or at the library my 27"iMac and my MacBook Pro will not operate.

Any DVD I rent from the red box or at the library my 27"iMac and my MacBook Pro will not operate. The Mac's take the DVD's and it sounds like it's trying to run the DVD. After about 10 seconds the Mac just spits it out. I am using the newest version of the Beta Yosemite OS X 10.10.3 Version. I'm a little more than a novice user, just to keep in mind... Can anyone help me fix this problem?

Aside from running the beta (and not being allowed to discuss anything at all about it anywhere including these forums), I have found that some commercial DVDs (and actually also music CDs) are coded such that they will not play in any device that could ostensibly be used to copy the content due to DRM/copyright issues. The DVDs played just fine in both of my DVD players hooked up to my TVs and the music CDs worked in my stereo system.
Have you tried to play those in a regular DVD player?

How can I synch Mail application between an iMac and a Macbook Pro

I want to be able to go back and forth between my iMac and my Macbook Pro using Mail application.
I don't want to set up two completely separate accounts.
Has anyone had to do this and if so, how do I do it?

How do I use an iPhone with an iMac and a MacBook Pro?

I have an iMac, a MacBook Pro and an iPhone 4S. I will be travelling and would like to sync my iPhone with the iMac or MacBook, depending on where I am. I am on the cloud and manage my music manually. I'd like to be able to sync and download app updates via iTunes. Currently I sync via the iMac, will I lose my music if I attempt to sync the iPhone with the MacBook?

Too bad as I just bought a MacBook Pro and would really like to have mirrored devices across the board. UPDATE: I disconnected the iPhone, restarted it, and tried again to sync it with the iTunes library on the iMac. This time it worked
Now I'm going to try to transfer the music into the iTunes library on the PowerBook, then sync with that, delete the library on the iMac, and sync the (hopefully full of all my music) iPhone with the iMac again.

HT1178 Do I want to create a new wireless network or join my current network? I can't connect an ethernet cable to the Mac / printer and to the wireless modem at same time - in two different rooms.

I am trying to set up Time Capsule so that I can do my first backup (after 1 1/2 years!) with Time Machine. I have read other forums, but in each case they instructions eventually do not apply.
I have connected my TC to my existing wireless router. This sits in a bedroom and cannot be moved as a rental home.
I have plugged in the TC and updated the software.
Now - do I want to A Create a New Wireless Network (remember I can't connect the TC to Mac using an Ethernet cable). B Replace an existing base station or wireless router with TC (only intend to use for TM as don't know other benefits as of yet). or C want TC to join current network.
Thinking C. If I choose C, it then asks A TC to wireless join current network (NO as already connected using Ethernet). B want to connect TC to my network using Ethernet to extend my existing wireless network. C want to disable the wireless network on this TC and connect it to my computer or network using Ethernet - CANNOT do this as devices can not be in the same room.
Or do I want to create new wireless network - first set of questions - choice A? What is the benefit to creating a new one when I won't be in this rental house for longer than 18 more months??

Let me suggest some things.
But first ask exactly what wireless router you have now and what type of broadband service?
Are you happy with the wireless on the current router? If so, then you can plug the TC straight into whatever computer you have by ethernet, short 1M cord with no connection to the network. And use it without affecting your existing network at all. This is trivial setup.
Although you don't say exactly what Mac and printer you are using, is it a desktop? Laptop it is definitely easier not to plug it in, but a desktop you can plug in the TC and it will all sit happily together.
How is the printer connected and to what?
I am not sure why you need such quick help.. this is all minor setup stuff.. and 18months in todays world is like permanent man.
Your multiple A, B, C are more confusing than helpful.
The best choices without more info.. are to replace the existing wireless router with the TC. ie your option B.. but how to do this depends on the type of connection. Is it cable or adsl? Can you easily bridge the existing modem router.. if that is what it is?
Think carefully in the ideal world what would you like..
and what do you have..
We can probably suggest ways and means to fit what you like to what you have.. without introducing a stack of options that are doing your head in.

The Lightroom 3 license is multi-platform (i.e. Windows & Mac) and permits the installation both a desktop and a laptop.

Yes you are correct the license is multi platform and can be on two computers. Only one in use at any point in time.
The catalogs created on one is compatable on the other platform.
There is no activate / deactivate function like Photoshop.

It depends on how you bought iWork (no 's').
If you bought a single-user retail box or license from the trial, no, you cannot legally install it on another Mac.
If you bought a family pack retail box or licesnce, you can install on up to five Macs in your household.
If you bought it from the Mac App Store, you can install the apps on as many Macs that you have by opening the Mac App Store & clicking on Purchases. Enter your Apple ID & click install.

You may use the same Apple ID for iTunes and App Store purchases, but using different iCloud Apple IDs is recommended.
If you use the same iCloud account on your iPhones it will sync all of your contacts, reminders, and notes automatically and it could be a pain. I don't know exactly how you would want to have the iCloud accounts set up on the Macs, because I don't know exactly how you use them. (I am assuming you share?). But you can do whatever you like, you can even keep the same iCloud accounts, etc but you may want to disable the syncing of certain items, because reminders for ones phone popping up on the others automatically would probably get annoying, but that is just me.

I have a registered copy of Aperture 1.5.6 and have downloaded the trial version of Aperture 2.
I'm thinking of getting a MacBool Pro. My question:
Will I be able to use my 1.5.6 disc on the MacBook Pro or will the disc only work on one computer. If I want to use Aperture 2 should I buy an actual disc to update on my current computer in the hope that I could also update to Aperture 2 on the MacBook Pro.
OR is there a way to transfer all my applications (including Apertuer 2) from my G5 to the MacBook Pro.

Technically you can use the same serial number of Aperture on as many computers as you like.
