Can i use PCIe X-Fi in PCIe x16 sl

I'm wondering if i could fit a PCIe x X-Fi soundcard into PCIe x6 slot?
The PCI slot on my ASUS P5Q Deluxe board is in rather crappy place and i was thinking of getting PCIe version of X-Fi and place it all the way below in a PCIe x6 slot. Is that posible or does it strictly have to be a x slot (which is also physically smaller).

It was said somewhere that it can work in both type of slots however some motherboards reserve the x6 slots for video cards only.
I have ASUS Maximus Extreme motherboard and my Titanium works in the x slot and the x6 slot both.

  • Can I use Labview real time with PCI 6013?

How much does Labview real time cost?
Do i need to have some additional hardware to use labview real time with PCI 6013?

You can not use the PCI-6013 board with LabVIEW Real-Time.
We offer three platforms for LabVIEW Real-time. PXI embedded controllers, 7030 data-acquisition plug-in boards (7030/xxxx) and FieldPoint. For more information on these options go to www.ni.com/products and then choose Real-Time from the menu on the left. There are PCI versions of the 7030 boards. Each 7030 board has a data-acquistion board attached to it (6030E, 6040E or 6533). When you embed a LabVIEW Real-Time program on the 7030 you will be able to access the daughter board. You can not access other boards from the embedded program. If you want to use several daq cards in your real-time system I would recommend a PXI chassi and PXI daq boards.

  • No ISA slot available in PC. How can I use PCI-85 Modbus Plus card with Lookout?

My application is to communicate with two Modicon PLCs using Modicon's ModBus Plus (PCI based PCI-85) network card inside my PC, and using Lookout as an SCADA software. Since there is no ISA slot available in new PCs, I can not use Modicon's ISA-85 Modbus Plus networc card. But Lookout does not support PCI based PCI-85 card, how can I use PCI-85 card then, with Lookout? Why doesn't Lookout support it? I asked the following question from from the Modicon's representative about it:
If I purchase Modbus Plus Driver Suite CD (SWMXDS001, 05, or 10 etc),will I be able to use Lookout SCADA software (by the way, it supports standard MB+ prtocol) for my application? If yes, can I use any version of an
y of the ISA, PCI, or PCMCIA based MB+ card?
    His answer was:
The Modbus Plus Driver Suite will talk to any version of card, PCMCIA, ISA, and PCI. The question now is will the SCADA package you are
planning on using be able to talk to the Modbus Plus Driver Suite? You must contact National Instruments and ask them if they support Modbus Plus, and if
they used the MB+ system developement kit to develop their product. Or if they wrote their own MB+ drivers, do they work with Modicon hardware?

    Hi,
currently Lookout does not support the PCI-85 card. The only card supported for Modbus Plus is SA-85. Please see for further information:

  • Can I use SCC-DI01 modules with a PCI-6533 device?

I am looking into performing buffered acquisition of various digital signals using a PCI-6533 device. Can I use SCC-DI01 modules with this device? If so, would this be via the SC-2345 Carrier? The manual seemed to suggest is was only compatible with E-series devices?
Basically, I want to monitor 32 digital channels and will have a mixture of 5V and 24V signals.
    Many thanks,
    Douglas

    Hi Douglas
Could you please clarify where the manual suggests that the module is only compatible with an E series board (is it because only an E series board is referenced in the manual)?
I can't find any information stating which devices are/aren't supported by the SCC-DI01, but I will continue to investigate and keep you posted with my progress.

  • How can I use the PCI-4451 installed in a laptop?

I would like to configure a sound level meter using a laptop and PCI-4451. I need a portable and rugged system to be used in the field. What are my options? Can I use the Configurable Signal Conditioning Enclosure CA-1000?
    Thanks again.

    Hello,
The CA-1000 does not contain a PCI bus interface for cards like the PCI-4451. The CA-1000 accepts a variety of signal conditioning modules and is then connected by cable to an acquisition device.
To use the 4451 with a laptop, you would need a Cardbus to PCI expansion chassis, such as those offered by MAGMA and other companies. I mention MAGMA only because I have a small amount of experience with their products. I'm sure there are others that are equally suitable.
If you're not 100% attached to the 4451, there are a couple other options. You could use a 1394 based DAQ device such as the NI DAQPad-6052E for FireWire, which could then be co
nnected to something like the CA-1000 if necessary, depending on your signal specs. Keep in mind that even though both the 4451 and 6052E are nominally 16-bit boards, the 4451 would be more suitable for audio measurements, particularly if you need simultaneous measurements on more than one channel.
Finally, a portable PXI system with the 4472 would make an ideal platform for precision audio measurements, if this fits within your budget and your definition of portable.

  • How can i use PCIe 1433 and basler line camera to construct image and pocess it?

hello! every one ,I am new to machine vision.i have two problems to ask.First, how can i use line camera and 1433 to acquire 2-D image?second,if i want to pocess the 1-D signal ,how can i do it ?i expect for your answer ,thank you!

What you are trying to do is not something you can easily do in a forum, but I can give you the basics.
You have a CameraLink frame Grabber (PCIe 1433) and a LineScan Camera
The framegrabber needs to be configured to understand how to communicate with the camera.  You need a file from the camera vendor.  This file might already be installed.  You can use MAX to check if it is, under Devices/IMAQ.
Assuming you can get to the point where you can communicate with the camera, you need to configure your acquisition.
Since the camera is a line scan camera, it captures image data one pixel ine at a time.  You will need to configure the frame grabber to determine how many lines per image you want.  The low limit is usually 1, and the high limit is either based on the framegrabber's internal memory, or that of the computer.
If you are using labview, you will need to open a sessing to the camera, acquire the image(s), and then close the session when you are done.
Once the image(s) are captured, you can performa analysis using the NI Vision Toolkit.
Sorry, but there is no way to condense years into one post.

  • Can i use PCI-1411 to trigger NI 5112 to capture YUV vdieo wave of DVD sync?

I have a PCI-1411 ,i can use this card to trigger NI5112 to capture a line signal of CVBS output of DVD. And i can see in the graph just a line's wave. But it seems that PCI-1411 cannot trigger the YUV output. The wave display still moves quickly, not just a line signal. Can i use PCI-1411 to trigger NI5112 to capture YUV output sync?

A similar question to this one was answered before by an NI employee with an example program attached. Please search the discussion furoms with keywords "5112" and "imaq" and you will find a discussion on triggering a 5112 with an IMAQ board.

It probably won't work. Some USB PCI cards will work out of the box with OS X even though the manufacturers don't specifically support it. This ad does not list the card manufacturer or chipset so it's very difficult to tell much about it. Furthermore it states that to modify the settings it requires a Windows-based Utility. Unless the seller has a good return policy I wouldn't buy it.

There is no ready-to-run solution for this. Of course you could switch all motor signals with external relays or with a switch matrix to the two sets of axis-signals that are available on the PCI-7352 but I wouldn't recommend doing this as this would be way more expensive and complicated than purchasing a PCI-7354 or a PCI-7356 that support for 4 and 6 axes respectively.

  • How many PCI-FBUS/2 cards can be used in a PC to connect to various Fielbus networks?

How many PCI-FBUS/2 cards can be used in a PC to connect to various Fielbus networks?  Are there limitations with the Communications Manager and Configurator?
I currently have 1 PC with a PCI-FBUS/2 card interfaced to 2 Fieldbusses. Can I place any PCI-FBUS/2 card into the PC and run 2 additional Fieldbusses?

    Hi hhsatBeck,
The limitations of CM and Configurator is,
Configurator supports maximum 4 FF online segments, including H1 and HSE. For more than 4 segments, extra upgrade package should be purchased.
CM supports maximum 16 FF segments, including both online and offline.
So, you can use at most two PCI-FBUS/2 card (4 segments) on one PC.

  • MSI 890FXA-GD70 - Can you use all 6 PCI Express expansion slots at once?

    Hey all,
I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to use all 6 PCI Express expansion slots on the motherboard (the 5 Full x16 slot and the 1 x1 slot) at the same time?  I know I'd lose the capability for x16 bandwidth but does using any of the slots automatically disable any of the other slots?  I have 6 single wide x1 PCI express cards I want to use at the same time and they do not all seem to be getting recognized by the OS (W7 x64).
    Specs on the machine are:
    890FXA-GD70 Motherboard - BIOS 1.9
    AMD Sempron 145 CPU
    4 GB DDR3 Kingston RAM
WD 160 GB Blue SATA HD
    Win7 x64
    Thanks!

    • 5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots
    - PCI_E1 supports up to PCIE x16 speed (when PCI_E3 is empty)
    - PCI_E5 supports up to PCIE x16 speed (when PCI_E6 is empty)
    - If you want to install two graphics cards, please use PCI_E1 & PCI_E5 slots
    - PCI_E3 & PCI_E6 support up to PCIE x8 speed
    - If you want to install four expansion cards into PCI_E1, E3, E5 & E6 slots, these four PCIE x 16 lanes  will auto arrange from x16/ x0/ x16/ x0 to x8/ x8/ x8/ x8
    - PCI_E4 supports up to PCIE x4 speed
All PCI-E slots can be filled at the same time with no problem.
    They will run at x8,x8,x4,x8,x8
The question mark is the small PCI-E x1 slot.
It's not clear if will affect others or will be disabled, or will work fine with x1 speeds as adverted.
What hapends if you fill 5x of those cards into the five of the PCI-E slots, except the small PCI-E x1 slot?

  • What PCI card to USB adapter can I use on my Satellite C

    Hi
My remaining working USB port has now deceased and I am stuck as I can no longer print (more importantly the kids can't print their homework!!) From the little understanding I have found out that I can either get the mother board replaced (expensive so not an option!) or get a *card adapter with USB ports* on it that goes in the card reader at the front of the laptop??
Does anyone know exactly what I am to buy as it all looks rather complicated to me!!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated! many thanks, Kerry.

    Hi Kerry
Can you please tell us more about your Toshiba notebook?
Which model do you have exactly?
Have you tested functionality of all USB ports?
    How old is your notebook?
I mean if the warranty is still valid contact nearest Toshiba service and ask for help?
Do you have new printer with WLAN inside. If yes you can print using WLAN connection.

  • Using external time base on PCI-MIO-16XE-50

What is frequency of the internal time base of PCI-MIO-16XE-50? How can I replace it with my external timebase ( a pulse signal from an atom clock)?
Also after replacing the internal timebase with external one, the scan rate and channel convert rate will be based on this external timebase automatically, right? For example, I define 1000 scan/s on AI0-AI8, it will be a scan rate based on the external timebase?

The AI Clock Config.vi can be used to set the scan clock rate. If a person wishes to change the boards internal time base to an external one, the method described in http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/3efedde4322fef19862567740067f3cc/5601c8268d625a3c86256cf50071199d?OpenDocument is the way to do this.
The PCI-MIO-16XE-50 has a RTSI connector. Please look at the PCI Board JPEG on http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/AD2D553F55A07BBF8625650D005F1F00?OpenDocument for the location of this connector. This site also contains a table of the RTSI Connector Pinouts.

  • Using 2 SCB-68 on PCI-6229

    I'm having problem using 2 SCB-68s with PCI-6229:
    1) Can I set 1 SCB68 in differntial mode (for Thermocouples with temp reference) and the second SCB68 in single ended mode (no temp reference)? MAX only shows "SCB68 Properties" for one unit.
    2) When using labview, I can run VIs that uses ports on one of the two SCB68's, but not both, i.e, if I attempt to use both ports 0-15 and 16-31 in the same VI, I would get an error about resouce is reserved.
    Thanks!
    Easen Ho

    Hey Easen,
1.) Are you using NI-DAQ 7.4? The DAQmx Team added support adding an SCB-68 to each of your connectors. You can also configure each connector seperately.
2.) I assume that when you say "ports", you are refering to the analog channels and not the digital channels. In which case, I assume that the problem is that you are trying to run two different analog input tasks on the same board. This is not possbile because all of the analog lines are viewed as a single resource. However, you can configure the analog lines in different create channel VIs and string them together, in the same task. Then you will have to sort the reading out, as they will be based on two different scales.
-Let me know if you have any further questions.

  • Is it possible to use SCXI-1531 together with PCI-6024E or PCI-6013?

I want to perform acoustic measurements as well as measurements with Hot-wire anemometers and need therefore low-pass filter and simultaneous sampling.

    Greetings,
The PCI-6024E can be used with the SCXI-1531, but the PCI-6013 cannot. Furthermore, you will need an SCXI chassis to house the 1531 (you may have already known this). The SCXI-1000 can hold up to four modules. Below is a link to information concerning the SCXI product line:
