Can i use pen drive to install boot camp on my mac?

Can i use usb pen drive to install boot camp on my mac?

No. Windows cannot boot from nor be installed on an external drive. That said, in the Windows world there are ways to put a bootable Windows installer on a flash drive. But you will have to find those on your own.

You can if your cellular plan allows it. Not sure how much data you mean by "quite a bit" but be aware that doing this can use up a lot of data in a hurry depending on what it is you do. • Install boot camp partition on Mac mini

How to install boot camp on a Mac mini? It ask for a bootable DVD which I have inserted in my Mac book pro, but it does not recognize the DVD. How can I install boot camp on a mini?

The Mac mini 2011 model does not have a DVD drive. It is possible to install Mac software over the network using another Macs DVD drive but this will not let you install Windows.
You need to either use an external DVD drive and connect it to the Mac mini, or for Windows 7 it is possible to copy the installer on to a USB memory stick, boot from the memory stick, and run the install from that.

how one can use pen drive in iPad?

You can use some USB flashdrives with the iPad's camera connection kit, but a lot of them require more power than is supplied to the kit, and you can only photos and videos to the iPad's Photos app with it - you can't copy other content, nor copy content off the iPad with it. Depending upon what you want to use it for you might be better off with syncing, Dropbox, emailing content, copying via your wifi network etc (depending upon the item type and what the app that you want to copy to/from supports)

  • Possible to use Leopard disk to install Boot Camp on 10.4.1 ?

I have a MacBook Pro running 10.4.1, and I have a number of Mac programs that are not yet compatible with Leopard. I would like to install Boot Camp, but I can't install Leopard until those programs are updated. I have already purchased Leopard (but haven't installed it), so I do have the Leopard disk. (I was asleep at the wheel and didn't download the Boot Camp beta before it was pulled.)
Is it possible for me to use the Leopard disk to install Boot Camp on my 10.4.1 system now, but wait to make the Leopard OS upgrade later?
    Thanks

Ah. There may be other mirrors around.
You may be able to install just Boot Camp Assistant from the Leopard DVD, but I'd be a little suspicious about how well it would work, and whether it would cause other problems. You should certainly be able to use the Leopard DVD instead of burning a drivers CD.
If you can't locate a copy of Tiger BCA, you might want to look at some of the posts that describe doing all of this manually - mostly that's creating a partition that Windows can use. Disk Utility will want to erase the entire drive to add a partition, though, which you may not be willing to do. Some third-party partition utilities claim to be able to do this without a reformat. Regardless of what path you take, be sure you have a good backup of anything not easily reinstalled or restored from other places!

  • Can I use an external hard drive to install boot camp?

What the question said also it'll be Windows 8.1 because that's the only one you can download from the M-soft store now.

The answer is simple and has been stated many times before.  Boot Camp will not allow you to install to an external drive.  Until now, Windows made it nearly impossible to install on an external drive, although I hear that has changed with Windows 8.1 (but I do not have personal experience with that).
If you use a different EFI boot loader, you might have much better luck installing Windows on an external drive, but Boot Camp does not support that.

  • Can I use an external HDD for Boot Camp?

I've got the new MacBook. So, I'm gonna be short on space if I allocate space from the in built Hard Disk or ssd whatever you want to call it..
Is it in any way possible to set up the windows account with an external hard drive(with USB 3)? Or can I use time capsule(or whatever their external hard disk is called) as an external drive for windows?
Since I'll mostly be playing games in windows, I'll need decent space there too...

I'm not sure you're numbers are quite right. I have Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit installed right now with Service Pack 1 on my bootcamp partition. I've also got Steam and Deus Ex: Human Revolution installed. Steam and the game occupy 8.47GB of space. Total space occupied on the disk is 21.2 GB, which means Windows is taking 12.73 GB. So I'd say the system requirements of 16GB for 32bit and 20GB for 64bit definitely include cache and paging, and also account for service packs and drivers.
You could easily get by with 20GB minimum space for bootcamp.
Take a moment and read the posts on this site, users who installed Windows in a 30G or less partition come here regularly trying to find the easy way to make it larger. We'll help you when you need the space.
Windows 7 should not be installed in less than a 40G partition, larger if the drive is an SSD.

  • Can I use Windows XP Home with Boot Camp and/or Parallels or VMFusion?

I am planning on purchasing a new Mac Mini with Snow Leopard. I have a copy of Windows XP Home Edition that came with a 7 year old Compac computer, can it be used with either Boot Camp and/or Parallels or VMFusion? I REALLY don't want to purchase Windows if I can help it. Thanks!

Read the boot camp requirements. I believe you will need a Windows disc that is stand alone. By that I mean a Windows disc that is not designed for a specific computer like your Compac. I believe that applies for Parallels and Fusion as well. Some of the newer disc that come with new computers may work since some of them are stand alone. I think your compac disc maybe married to your computer. You can try it when you get your Mac but it may not work.

  • Can I use Migration Assistant to install Tiger on my old Mac?

I am about to buy a MacBook that will, of course, come with Tiger and I will use Migration Assistant to bring my files over from my Powermac G5 which has just Panther installed. Since I am keeping both machines, can I use Migration Assistant to migrate the Tiger OS over to my Powermac? And can I do the same with the newer versions of software that will come with the MacBook (iLife etc.)?
    Dual 2GHz Powermac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

The Migration Assistant can only transfer data to a computer which already has the Migration Assistant installed, and it will not transfer the whole Mac OS X setup in any configuration. Furthermore, the version of Mac OS X which comes with a MacBook is not compatible with your Power Mac G5. If you want Tiger on your older computer, you need to purchase a new copy.

  • How do I install Boot Camp on my Mac Book OS X10.4 (Book camp not included in the  computer)

I have a Mac Book with OS X 10.4, i.e., Boot Camp is not installed on the computer.  I had Boot Camp installed and was using Windows, but it crashed, so I want to remove it and reinstall.  I have downloaded the Boot Camp 3.3 drivers.  Where do I go from here?
    Thanks!

Also: Boot Camp was a beta through v1.4 for Tiger (OS 10.4.6+).  As a beta, it no longer exists and isn't supported (as of 9/2007)
You need at least Leopard (OS 10.5+) to get an official release, and to get the upgrade to Snow Leopard by itself.  This can be hard-to-find outside of second-hand online markets.  Leopard's last known box update carried 10.5.4.  The 2008 Mac Box Set may have carried a later version .  Either way, you'd get Boot Camp 2.0-2.2
Snow Leopard v10.6.3 is the current retail box update, and the last on DVD.  This should give you Boot Camp 3.0.
The current 3.x update for Macs not qualified to run Windows 7 is 3.2.  If you have a Mac that is Windows 7-qualified, you then update to 3.1 or 3.2--and finally to 3.3 only if you have Win 7 installed.
All Windows 7-qualified Macs can run Lion, and Boot Camp 4.x by extension.  The only such Macs based on Tiger were:
    MacBook Pro (mid/late 2007)
    Mac mini (mid 2007)
    iMac (mid 2007 aluminum finish)
All other Macs with Tiger do not qualify for Win 7, though some can run Lion while still running Boot Camp 3.2 as above.

  • Can't use external drive to install 'plug-in' collections?

I'm trying to load up an external drive with all the Logic additional loops and instrument plug-ins, including the Spectrasonic librairies etc.
The message I get when I try to do this is that the external drive is a 'network' drive, and thus it can't be done. At least that is what happened when I tried to 'install' the Spectrasonic Stylus setup. Is there a particular folder hierarchy I could use to just drag and drop all my instrument collections ... and then do a link from the Logic 8 app. Or where would I find the linking protocol in the Logic 8 manual?
Any suggestions would be most appreciated,
    Ben

You can't install plugins to a separaet drive because there are very specific system locations plugins need to reside in on your system drive.
You can often however move the sample content. For instance, I have the Stylus RMX plugin on my system drive, but the 10gig library on an external drive.
Your manuals or support notes will tell you the correct procedure to follow, depending on the plugin. Sometimes you will have to create aliases to the mvoed sample content, sometimes you have to edit preferences and so on. It's really plugin dependent.
The Logic loops can reside on an external drive - just move them, then drag them to the loop browser to reindex them.

  • Anyone having problems installing Boot Camp with New Mac Pro 2.8?

I just get blank screen after it restarts with XP disk. I'm using a vga - dvi adapter with a apple 17" display..
I've phoned apple and read up on here but nobody seems to know. I just wondered whether my 2008 Mac Pro was faulty...
    Please can you help?
    cheers

Are you getting a white screen after the Mac reboots? If so, try disconnecting all non-essential USB/FW devices.
I had the exact same problem and I went through a long, stressful process of elimination to get it working, even to the extent of using my MacBook as an external drive through target disk mode!
It turned out to be my iMage USB camera. Even after successfully installing Windows I have to disconnect it before using Bootcamp.
    I Hope this helps.

  • Having trouble installing Boot Camp

I'm having trouble installing Boot Camp and I'm not sure how I can do it.
I get the "can't move files" when I try to partition.
I purchased and tried to run iDefrag, that didn't work, it gave me an error. I have used Carbon Copy Clone to clone to an external drive.
What is the best way to format my hard drive and reinstall so I can partition my drive and install Boot Camp?
    Thanks!

If you've already removed the XP DVD, then you've just done that step.
