Can I use QuickTime Pro to edit MP3 files?  Or just video?

I would like to splice several files together. If QuickTime doesn't do this, is there another good option?
Thanks.

  • Burning TV shows within toast using Quicktime Pro to edit

    I have a replaytv (similar to tivo) and have downloaded a tv show to my mac using DVArchive. I then used MPEGStream to encode the file as an apple intermediate codec file so I could then edit out the commercials within quicktime Pro, version 7. I then dragged the file into toast, where I successfully created a dvd I could watch of the show. However, the top and bottom of the image, on the tv screen, is cut off. That is, it looks kinda like a 16:9 movie, ya know, widescreen format. I have the resolution set within MPEGStream to 720 x 480, which I understand to be tv resolution. Someone in the avsforum suggested that quicktime pro changed the aspect ratio when I edited the file, which is why I'm experiencing the black lines above and below the image. Is that likely, and what settings, if any, can I use such that the video will take up the whole screen? Please help.

    I would take a look at the edited file in QuickTIme Pro and see what size it is Window>Show Movie Info. If the size there is 720 x 480, then perhaps there was a setting you missed in Toast-perhaps in the Advanced tab. If the size is different in the edited QT movie, then there might have been a problem in the conversion from Replay TV to the intermediate codec. That's at least a place to start I think. Keep us posted....

  • Can you use Quicktime Pro on more than one computer?

    I'm thinking about buying a Quicktime Pro 7 key, but I couldn't tell if it is just for one computer, or if I could use it for both my iMac and labtop. Anyone know? Thanks.

    You can, but it's against the EULA.

  • Quicktime Pro to edit 3g2 files for Windows?

    Hello - I have .3g2 videos that I took with my cell phone camera. These will play on my computer (Windows Vista) with Quicktime player but in Windows Media Player the audio is missing. Will Quicktime Pro allow me to convert these files and also edit them? I cannot edit in Movie Maker (will not open .3g2 files). I have tried some freeware conversion software but nothing works very well. Thanks!
    Steven

    If the files play in the free QuickTime Player then the Pro upgrade can edit and convert them.

  • Can I use QuickTime Pro to convert my dvds into an ipod video ready format

    I've just got an ipod video and being in the UK I'm unable to buy movies from iTunes and wanted to add some of my own dvd collection to my ipod - can I do this with QT pro???
    Thanks

    No.
    QuickTime can't open MPEG-2 (DVD format) without third party software help and can't extract audio from muxed file formats.
    Search the iPod Discussions pages. Dozens of software solutions have been posted there.

  • Use QuickTime Pro to extract audio from VCD

    Can I use QuickTime Pro to extract the audio from a VCD? after that, I would like to convert that audio file to an mp3.

    MPEG Streamclip is exactly what I needed. Thank you!
    For others with the same need, here's my workflow for Extracting Audio from a VCD:
    * Pop the vcd into a computer and open it up.
    * Navigate to the MPEGAV folder. You should see something like AVSEQ01.DAT.
    * rename that to AVSEQ01.mpg
    * Drag this new .mpg file into MPEG Streamclip
    * File/Export Audio . . .
    * Open up Audacity (optional)
    * File/Open . . .
    * direct it to the newly created .mp3
    * Trim off any extra audio (I didn't want the opening credits, etc. on the .mp3)
    * File/Export as .mp3

  • Using QuickTime Pro to convert a series of JPEG images into a QT movie?

    Can I use QuickTime Pro to convert a series of JPEG images into a QT (uncompressed) movie? Thanks...
      Windows XP

    Yes.
    One of the features of the QuickTime Pro upgrade is "Open Image Sequence". It imports your sequencially named (1.jpg, 2.jpg) liked sized images (any format that QT understands) and allows you to set a frame rate.
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials/slideshow.html
    You can also adjust the frame rate by adding your image .mov file to any audio clip. Simply "copy" (Command-A to select all and then Command-C to copy) and switch to your audio track.
    Select all and "Add to Selection & Scale". Open the Movie Properties window and "Extract" your new (longer or shorter) file and Save As.
    As you've posted in the Mac Discussion pages but your profile says XP you'll need to subsitute Control key where I reference Command key.

  • Can I make an mp3 using Quicktime Pro?

  • Using QuickTime Pro with an .mpg movie, why can I only get it to play from the beginning, but not from any other point in the video?

    Using QuickTime Pro with an .mpg movie, why can I only get it to play from the beginning, but not from any other point in the video? How can I fix this?
    Baffled in SB

    What format of MPG is this?  Is this an MPEG1 or MPEG2 video?  How was the video created?

  • Re user tip: How can I import a homemade DVD into iMovie for editing? - I've followed instructions so far so good, until I get to "You can then FILE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME and choose Apple Intermediate Codec as your video codec. "  How do I do that?

    Re AppleMan 1958 excellent user tip: How can I import a homemade DVD into iMovie for editing? -
    I've followed instructions with success until  "You can then FILE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME and choose Apple Intermediate Codec as your video codec. "  How do I do that?
    I installed MGEG Streamclip 193b8 and used their utility to install quicktimempeg2 and got a message stating it was successfully installed.  (I'm on latest Maverick 10.9.2 on iMac)  Then I dragged the VIDEO_TS file from my home DVD into the streamclip app.  It asked which of 4 files to use, and I selected the first one.  Streamclip played the video with the sound.  so far so good. but now I cannot figure how to use quicktime player 10.3 to export this vob file out of streamclip.

    Thank you for your quick reply and for clearing up my confusion.  I'm exporting the first section now.  I choose the smallest size, 3x4 but I'd prefer to go higher as this DVD was originally a VHS home movie.  I'm wondering if after three conversions (VHS,->DVD->MPEG) the resolution will be so poor as to not support a larger size frame?  If it can, what size should I select when I export?

  • I used to shoot video in my Powershot S3 IS (MVI_.AVI) and load it into iPhoto, I used quicktime pro so I could convert it for emailing to family members.  That was when I was running Leopard now with Mt. Lion nothing works.  Videos do not open at all?

    I used to shoot video in my Powershot S3 IS (Format MVI_.AVI) and load them into iPhoto, I used quicktime pro so I could convert for emailing to family members.  That was when I was running Leopard now with Mt. Lion nothing works.  Videos do not open at all.  Any simple suggestions, I am not real keen on iMovie Productions and not real certain how they compress for emailing attachments.  Something simple here that I am missing?  Thanks so much.  I am a grandpa trying to share with family members far away (quickly & simply).

    I am surprised that Apple did not build a converter into Mt. Lion.
    Apple does have a converter built into Mountain Lion. It is call "Quicktime." However, in order to use this converter, you must first make sure the compression formats are playback compatible with QT. Basically, there are three levels of QT compatibility. The lowest is "Playback." These file can be played by QT but may not be conversion or edit compatible with QT. The second level is QT "Conversion" compatible. These files are playback compatible and can be converted to other compression formats using QT. "Edit" compatible media files are "Fully" compatible with QT since the can be played, converted and/or edited by QT. The main problem here is that AVI is a "legacy" file format that has not been officially supported by Microsoft for more than 11 years when it was replaced by Windows Media multimedia file/compression formats. Many of the original compression formats used in AVI files have never been transcoded for the Mac platform, use beyond system 9, or use beyond PPC platforms. In addition, some commonly used AVI codecs are proprietary or use non-standard (hybrid) profile and level combinations. In short, there is little wonder that Apple has been distancing itself from this outdated file type as it re-writes and upgrades its own QT structure to support more standardized, more scalable, more modern high definition file types and compression formats. It is really unfortunate that users continue to use this outmoded file type simply because it is freely available, easy to use, or they are simply too lazy to move on to a more modern or more efficient file types and/or compression formats.
    I tested Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate for the Mac, which seems to be the "state of the art".  I may be purchasing a new camera which might create a whole new set of variables.  This program seems to cover all bases and is great for novices.
    There are many third-party apps available if you wish to search for them. Many are even available in the App Store. Most do their job well and it is usually a matter of personal user preference as to which is best.
    HandBrake seems more suited to folks with more experience and knowledge.
    I mentioned Handbrake primarily because it is free and easy to use when you employ the included conversion presets options. (The TV options can normally be used for almost any situation depending on the source file and output requirements.) It is also excellent for more experienced users, but has a somewhat limited choice of output options as it does not access the user's system QT codec component configuration.

  • Can I use Logic Pro 9.1.6 on two computers with one licens

    I have download and install Logic Pro 9.1.6 on my MacBookPro 13". I record on location with my MacBook an wil edit and arrange the music on my iMac at home. Can I use Logic Pro 9.1.6 on two computers with one licens. I'm the owner of both computers. If it can where can I find the program on my MacBook? and how to install and register?

    Hi, is  the iMac also 10.6.8? I had an iMac die when 10.6.8 was installed, it worked at first but after some You Tube flash videos the screen just locked and no mouse clicking anywhere did anything. It turned out that most older iMacs [ mine was from august 2007] have a graghics chipset that can't handle Snow Leopard, there were [are?] 77 pages on this "locked screen"topic in the Snow Leopard forum. I checked out a web site that tells you how much your mac is worth by filling in the sereal number-mine was worth only $168, I may give it to a friend for his children to play with, although that seems unholy. I doubt anyone woud buy it,the problem is now so well known that even Apple certified resellars here in the Netherlands refuse to repair them,they claim Apple will revoke their certification if they replace the faulty Graphics unit,it is also VERY hard to get to that unit in an iMac, everything is so tightly packed inside.
    If your iMac is running Mountain Lion[10.8.0] you may have to change the app store preference to accept apps from all sites,normally ML will only allow app store apps to be downloaded.

  • Recorded a video in portrait mode and want to switch it to landscape mode is there any way else to do it without useing quicktime pro....hope apple fixes this in ios 7 the video should come out in landscape regardless of the way you hold your phone

    is there any way else to do it without useing quicktime pro....hope apple fixes this in ios 7 the video should come out in landscape regardless of the way you hold your phone or if you start in portrait and go into landscape while recording

    You used the data.  Verizon can not see what it was sued for.  However your phone can see whats apps used the data.  go to settings-data usage- there will be a place that says data usage cycle.  line the dates up with your cycle.  then there will be a bar graph below that   extend bother white bars one all the way to the left and one all the way to the right.  after those are extended below that will be a list of apps,  there should be one that used over 2 gb and that will show you what app used that data in her purse

  • PPT to DVD using Quicktime Pro

    I am trying to transfer a Powerpoint slide to a DVD. I had heard it could be done using Quicktime Pro. I have made the PPT a .mov and can get it to open in Quicktime, but the animations and timing does not transfer. A 5-second PPT is coming out as 17 seconds long. How can I fix this?

    QuickTime Pro doesn't export to the MPEG-2 format so it doesn't make DVD's
    Your profile says you're using a Mac.
    Export your .avi to DV Stream (.dv) format (make sure you can play them with QT first).
    Use iDVD to burn your DVD. It will convert your .dv file into the MPEG-2 format used on DVD's.
    If you don't have a built in DVD burner you may be able to use a Firewire external. Check before you buy to be sure it is compatible with iDVD software.
