Can I use shapefile to generate base map

I have some data for arcview, I want to upload to spatial, what is the best way to do it? I know that I can generate the themes when I import a shapefile by map builder, but how can I generate base map? thanks

A base map is just a collection of themes.

    Can I use a 1 3T base station Time Capsule as a router/backup and a second 3T base station as a Time Machine backup router without conflict?

    Sure, as long as you have a different name for each device, and plan to connect the two Time Capsules together using  a permanent, wired Ethernet cable connection between them.

  • Can I use an Airport Express Base Station to extend non-Apple router range?

    We have a Netgear 802.11n router in our house. I just bought a MacBook Pro and now am accessing out wifi from the other end of the house along with my iPod Touch 4g. Both seem to show at best about half strength signal strength. House is small and nearly all devices on same floor.
    Can I use the Apple Airport Express Base Station as a bridge to extend our wifi network giving me stronger signal for my Apple devices or will it only work with Apple routers? Netgear and others like Hawking make wifi range extenders and those are still under consideration.

    It would be extremely unlikely that an AirPort Express would "extend" the wireless network produced by the Netgear router using wireless only. Apple's "extend" feature appears to be proprietary among Apple "n" routers. As far as we know, it does not work with any other manufacturer's products for the purpose of wireless only extension.
    If you are planning to connect the AirPort Express to the Netgear using an ethernet connection, then it could be configured to extend that way.

  • Can I use ISYS Ordnance Survey (UK) map software on my iMac G3 (OS 10.3)?

    I have found mapping software on the UK Ordnance Survey website which supposedly works on Macs (most of this type of product eg Anquet apparently only works on pcs)
    However when I enquired if it would work on my iMac G3, OS 10.3, the reply I got said that they weren't Mac experts but many of their users are running on Macs and "the options depend on the chip set on the Mac" and that "the results are great once you get the right emulation"
    How do I find out what chip my iMac has? The Apple website only seems interested in selling me new stuff.
    What is "emulation"? How can I find out what's needed for particular software?
    The software seems to be just what I want - maps which I can print, 3D pics of area on map, hillwalking route-planning, etc, but it's expensive and I don't want to buy it and find it's no use on my Mac.

    Sorry, if your computer came with 10.1.5, you can't install an earlier OS on it.  If you are in the US, call Apple Customer Relations 800- 275-2775 and ask the for your instal discs.
    If, as I suspect, you are in Germany, call your local Apple store and talk to them.

  • Can I use the Airport Extreme Base Station with my already existing D-Link router to increase signal strength?

    I already own a wireless router that I would like to keep. Could I use this Airport Extreme Base Station to improve that signal strangth to my room from the living room or to the basement? Would I have to hard-wire both the Base Station and my existing router? You probably have read this question more than once, and I have read some questions of this product too, but for some reason these Apple products I have some trouble with.

    Could I use this Airport Extreme Base Station to improve that signal strangth to my room from the living room or to the basement?
    Yes
    Would I have to hard-wire both the Base Station and my existing router?
    Yes

  • Can I use an Airport Extreme Base Station from the USA in Europe ?

    A friend of mine gave me an Airport Extreme Base Station from the USA to Germany. When I hook it up to my PB by ethernet cable the Computer can't find the Base Station at all. If I use my Sonnett Aria Extreme PCI card it finds the station but in the pop-up menu asking in which country I want to use the airport station it only offers North and South American countries. How do I go from here and why is my PB not finding the station when I'm using cables ? Has it something to do with different models for different countries ? Any idea ? Thanx

    Here you go ...
    Changing the Radio Channel on the AEBSn
    Either connect to the AEBSn's wireless network, or temporarily connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to one of the LAN ports of the AEBSn, and then, using the AirPort Utility in Manual Setup, check these settings:
    AirPort - Wireless
    o Channel: <Use Automatic or select a preferred channel>

  • How can i using datasource in toplink's map file

    In the TopLink map :
    <toplink:login xsi:type="toplink:database-login">
    <toplink:platform-class>oracle.toplink.platform.database.oracle.Oracle10Platform</toplink:platform-class>
    <toplink:user-name>test</toplink:user-name> <toplink:password>C23487CFA591952D44310804F3D591CB</toplink:password>
    <toplink:sequencing>
    <toplink:default-sequence xsi:type="toplink:native-sequence">
    <toplink:preallocation-size>1</toplink:preallocation-size>
    </toplink:default-sequence>
    </toplink:sequencing>
    <toplink:driver-class>oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver</toplink:driver-class>
    <toplink:connection-url>jdbc:oracle:thin:@192.168.0.1:1521:testdb</toplink:connection-url>
    <toplink:bind-all-parameters>true</toplink:bind-all-parameters>
    </toplink:login>
    How can i modify it using datasource?

    The login information stored in the map file is good for direct connection and design time login information.
    For your runtime login information I would use the sessions configuration (sessions.xml). It provides complete deployment configuration:
       <session>
          <name>my-session</name>
          <!-- This references the ORM map XML file -->
          <project-xml>META-INF/employee-basic.xml</project-xml>
          <session-type>
             <server-session/>
          </session-type>
          <login>
             <datasource>jdbc/TopLinkDS</datasource>
             <uses-external-connection-pool>true</uses-external-connection-pool>
             <uses-external-transaction-controller>true</uses-external-transaction-controller>
          </login>
          <external-transaction-controller-class>oracle.toplink.essentials.transaction.oc4j.Oc4jTransactionController</external-transaction-controller-class>
          <enable-logging>true</enable-logging>
          <logging-options>
             <log-exceptions>true</log-exceptions>
             <print-thread>false</print-thread>
             <print-date>false</print-date>
          </logging-options>

  • How can I use loop in graphical message mapping

    The source input XML is like:
    <bookstore>
      <book>
           <item1>xxx</item1>
           <item2>yyy</item2>
      </book>
      <book>
            <item1>zzz</item1>
           <item2>www</item2>
    </book>
    </bookstore>
    I want to create an output XML like
    <output>
       <item>
            <item1>xxx</item1>
             <item2>yyy</item2>
        </item>
       <item>
            <item1>xxx</item1>
             <item2>www</item2>
        </item>
       <item>
            <item1>zzz</item1>
             <item2>www</item2>
        </item>
       <item>
            <item1>xxx</item1>
             <item2>yyy</item2>
        </item>
    </output>
    That means I want to do permutation and combination for all <item1> <item2> under <book>.
    Of course I can write a customer function to do it, but I want to basically use the buildin functions to do the graphical message mapping for this.
    Any idea?  thank you.

    well, I'm not very clear of those 2 English words
    What I want is to list all possible combination of item1 and item2 (and in fact, we have item3, item4, ....etc).
    example
    input:
    <item>
              <item1> 111 </item1>
              <item2> 222 </item2>
              <item3> 333 </item3>
    </item>
    <item>
              <item1> aaa </item1>
              <item2> bbb </item2>
              <item3> ccc </item3>
    </item>
    I want to get
    <item><Item1>111>/item1> <item2>222</item2> <item3>333</item3> </item>
    <item><Item1>111>/item1> <item2>222</item2> <item3>ccc</item3> </item>
    <item><Item1>111>/item1> <item2>bbb</item2> <item3>333</item3> </item>
    <item><Item1>111>/item1> <item2>bbb</item2> <item3>ccc</item3> </item>
    <item><Item1>aaa>/item1> <item2>222</item2> <item3>333</item3> </item>
    <item><Item1>aaa>/item1> <item2>222</item2> <item3>ccc</item3> </item>
    <item><Item1>aaa>/item1> <item2>bbb</item2> <item3>333</item3> </item>
    <item><Item1>aaa>/item1> <item2>bbb</item2> <item3>ccc</item3> </item>

  • Can I use MacBook as a base station and airport express to extend?

    I currently have my ethernet cable plugged in to Airport Express to provide WiFi in my house. However, the signal doesn't always reach upstairs. Can I plug the ethernet in to my Macbook downstairs and use the AE upstairs? Or how can I make the signal stronger upstairs?

    Can I plug the ethernet in to my Macbook downstairs and use the AE upstairs?
    Unfortunately, no.
    You are asking about configuring the AirPort Express to "extend" a wireless network from your Mac. It cannot do this.
    It can only extend a wireless network when you have another AirPort base station. In other words, it always takes a minimum of 2 AirPort routers to extend a wireless network.
    If you add another AirPort Express approximatel half the distance from your "main" Express and configure it to "extend a wireless network", you will have more wireless signal coverage upstairs. Here, I' am assuming that you have the "n" wireless versions of the AirPort Express.

  • How can I use Anquet or similar mountain mapping software on my iMac?

    As a keen hillwalker I would like to be able to use Anquet or similar maps - at present I use well-worn OS 1:50,000 maps but would like to print out relevant maps for whatever hill I'm doing, and possibly also get into using a GPS.
    According to the Anquet website their software doesn't work on Macs. I don't want to switch to PC but might have to. Any way round the problem without costing too much?

    you could try looking at this-
    http://ipod.about.com/od/ipad/qt/sync-photos-to-ipad.htm
    Basically
    >open itunes
    >go to ipad device screen
    >photos tab
    >you should get the option to sync folders containing pictures from your mac
    >select the folders you wish to sync
    >hit sync button

  • Can we use sql default data base for deploying lync monitoring

    Hi,
    I just want to know whether i can install monitoring server using lync server default instance of sql server.
    because i got an error stating "Cannot access LcsCDR or QoEMetrics on Monitoring back-end database. Verify that these databases have been deployed, and that access to the Monitoring back-end database is not blocked by the firewall".
    But when i use the named instance then it is working fine. can any body tell me why it is happening.
    Regards,
    Aslam

    Hi,
    You can use default instance as describe in the following link:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/nexthop/archive/2011/06/27/deployment-details-for-lync-monitoring-reports.aspx
    Please refer to Installation section.
    Please make sure the account you used to deploy Monitoring Server reporting service has the required permission of your Monitoring Database.
    In addition, please double check the following limits of databases for Lync Server:
    You can collocate each of the following databases on the same database server:
    Back-end database
    Monitoring database
    Archiving database
    You can collocate any or any or all of these databases in a single SQL instance or use a separate SQL instances for each, with the following limitations:
    Each SQL instance can contain only a single back-end database, single Monitoring database, and single Archiving database.
    The database server cannot support more than one Front End pool, one Archiving Server, and one monitoring Server, but it can support one of each, regardless of whether the databases use the same SQL instance or separate SQL instances.
