I intend to buy an iPad 2 3G in the USA and bring it back to my home country (Chile) but I'm not sure if the broadband connection will work here with a phone carrier different from AT&T or Verizon. The ATT iPad model uses the GSM technology (VZ uses CDMA, which is used in very few places outside the US). Get the ATT iPad, you can plop in your local microSIM card, the iPad is not locked to ATT.

You will need to get a local micro-sim, but yes you should be able to. 3G iPads bought in the US are not locked to a carrier, but in order to use a local micro-sim you'll need the AT&T version if buying from the US - the Verizon iPads are CDMA based and don't use sim cards (so are effectively locked to Verizon)

"No Apple store will accept an iPhone shipped to them"
All you have to do is safely pack and ship your iPhone from the Philppines to your California-based relative.

You can only use the license in other Macs because Microsoft hasn't released Office for iPad yet. That's because iPads and Macs use different operating systems and different apps, so you can't run Mac applications in a iPad

Depending on whether you bought the 3G version, and if so which one (Verizon or AT&T), then you may not be able to get 3G coverage - I don't know what type of network is used in Australia, but the Verizon iPad uses CDMA (no sim card) and the AT&T version is GSM/sim card based.

This is an older photo but the sleep and home buttons are still in the same place on all iPads. The home button is the round button at the bottom of the iPad and the sleep button is also called the on/off button and it is at the top right corner of the iPad.

Yes you can, easily. When you plug the first pad in to sync, note the name of the pad on the last pane. Set up for that device whatever you want to sync. When you are done, plug the second pad in. Make sure it has a different name on the left pane. Then sync to that pad whatever you want. I tunes will remember what you did on each pad, and will start from there the next time you plug in.
