Thank you Jim, Malignance and Illaass!
Does each iphone has a distinct tag - for instance - for "find my iphone"?
Yes if each phone a a deferent name.
Will you have the same contacts, calendar and email for both?
I think yes if you both use the same iCloud account. However,You can add/sync to other calendars like the Google calendar and not show that one one device.
What issues have been reported on this topic? I plan to use two separate telcos as my service provided ( one for each iphone).
The carrier makes no difference on syncing/Apple ID

I have an MacPro and I am buying an iPad.  Can you use the same Apple ID for two devices or should I create an new AppleID for the ipad?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The Apple ID purpose is to have the same data in all your devices and share your purchases among all your devices, so you can use your Apple ID in both devices

I have 2 ipod nanos, 1 for my wife and mine. Can I use the same Apple ID for both so we can share the same music.

yes you can. I have 1 nano and 3 iTouches.... you should be able to use Multiple iDevices with the same Apple ID.....

  • Can I use the same Apple ID for multiple devices

Can I use the same Apple ID for multiple devices?

Yes. Up to five devices can be authorized on a single computer using the same Apple ID. You can also use the same Apple ID on multiple devices is they are all going to use the same iTunes Library by the same user. But it's ill-advised if multiple users are involved who wish to keep their devices separate from the devices belonging to other users.
How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer
Using More than One iDevice on the Same Computer
This applies mainly to couples who are adding another device and do not want their email, messages, etc. being duplicated on both devices. To begin read: How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer. You need to establish a separate Apple ID and password for whomever will use the new iDevice. See Apple - My Apple ID and Frequently asked questions about Apple ID. The easiest way is to do this on the computer using iTunes: iTunes- How to set up an Apple ID within iTunes.
On the computer create a new user account for the person with the new iDevice. This will be the user account that person will always use. He/She will no longer use the other user account. This way that person will have a separate iTunes Library
Start by transferring the new device(s) to a new account along with all your data.  Save any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless they are already in the camera roll) by opening your Photos app, tap on Albums icon at the bottom. Now, tap on My Photo Stream album; tap Select; tap on the photos you want to select;, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow) in the lower left corner; then tap Save to Camera Roll.
If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep then you need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself. Later you can copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.
Tap on Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; the person keeping the current account will not be affected,) provide the password to turn off Find My Phone and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted.  Sign in with a different Apple ID to create your new account. Choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete the other person's data from your account.
Note: The essence of the above was created by user, randers4. I
have made substantial changes to improve readability and syntax.

  • HT204053 Can I use the same Apple ID for iMessage and FaceTime services from two different devices - iPhone and iPad?

Can I use the same Apple ID for iMessage and FaceTime services simultaneously on two different devices - iPhone and iPad? It seems those are competing to each other, and the services work on one of them only (iPhone).

Many thanks, Sir! Both are mine and it's good to know that imessage can work on both with the same Apple ID. Will now have to find out why imessage stopped working on iPad when it started on iPhone (new). After exploring the forum I understand  that there may be plenty of reasons why imessage does not work, even though it worked previously on the same device with the same ID.

  • If I have more than one I phone can I use the same apple ID for all off them?

If I have more than one I phone can I use the same apple ID for all off them?

Yes. You can have multiple iPhones on the same ID, up to the maximum 5 total devices. FaceTime will use the sim number for calls and you can configure each phone separately, or configure one and then back it up to iTunes and them restore the image to the others.

  • Can i use the same apple id for my irish and english iphone?

I currently use two different Apple IDs on my Irish and English Iphones. Can I use the same Apple ID for both to make it easier to syn onto my macbook?

Yes, you can use your Apple ID with any Apple product or service worldwide, no matter the language or country, but your account can only be in one iTunes Store country at a time.

  • HT4759 can you use the same apple id for two phones on the cloud?

can you use the same apple id for two phones on the same verizon account and if so can you keep there contacts etc. separate?

If you want to keep your contacts and other data you sync with iCloud separate, you'll have to create separate iCloud accounts, which will require different IDs.  If you share the same iCloud account/ID on multiple devices, the synced data will be merged and will appear on all devices syncing with the shared account.
You can still share the same ID for iTunes; it doesn't have to be the same as the one used for iCloud.

  • HT204053 can I use the same apple id for many devices

can I use the same apple id for many devices on the app find my phone

You can if they are all using the same iCloud account (ID).  The app will only display the devices using the iCloud account that the app is currently signed into.  If your devices are using different accounts, with different IDs, you will need to sign out, then sign back in with the iCloud ID being used on the device you are trying to locate.

  • Can I use the same Apple ID for two iPhone's?

Can I use the same Apple ID on both mine and my partners iPhones? and will there be any troubles or problems that may occur?
    Thank you

Yes, but there will be quirks. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495
What isn't obvious is that you can use different Apple IDs for different functions on your iPhone; for example iCloud, iTunes & App Stores, Game Center, iMessage and FaceTime can all have different Apple IDs from each other.
If you use the same Apple ID for Find my iPhone then both phone's locations will show up at https://icloud.com/find. Which can be good or bad, depending on your situation.
If you use the same Apple ID for iTunes & App Stores you can have the same apps and music on both phones; some or all of them.
You probably want different Apple IDs for iMessage and FaceTime; otherwise, you will get each other's messages
    Also different for Game Center.

  • Can I use the same apple ID for my personal and work phones?

I have a personal iPhone (AT&T) and am getting one issued through work (Verizon). Am I able to use the same Apple ID for both phones?

In theory, yes. You had best ask your IT department, though... or whoever is issuing the phone to you. They may have policies as to what is and is not allowed to be done on company owned phones.

  • I have an iphone 4 and thinking about getting an ipad2.  Can i use the same apple id for both devices?

I have an iphone 4 and I am thinking about getting an ipad2.  Can I use the same apple id and itunes account with both of them?  Will my contacts and apps transfer over to the iPad2?

Yes. I use the same Apple ID on four different iDevices. You can sync the contacts with iCloud or with your computer and have them on both devices. You can sync all of the apps as well. If the apps are not in iTunes on your computer - you can download them to the iPad with the same Apple ID. You can also restore the iPad from a backup of the phone to transfer your settings, app data and your contacts.
iPhone only apps will be half size on the iPad screen but will still work as long - you can enlarge the size of the apps - but they will be pixelated on the screen.

  • HT5622 Can I use the same apple ID for imessage on my Mac and iPad?

Today I attempted to send and iMessage from my iPad. The message began to send but the loading bar stopped when it was almost finished and an exclamation point appeared next to the message. I am connected to my house wifi, and I have never had a problem with iMessage up to this point. A couple of months ago I bought a Mac and I am using the same Apple ID and Email for iMessage on that. I am wondering if the reason iMessage has stopped working on my iPad has to do with the fact that I am using the same account for my computer?

Then it wouldn't appear that your home network is the problem either. Try turning Messages off on the iPad, reboot the iPad and the turn Messages on again and see if that fixes it.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • How can you use the same Apple ID for music and apps but have a different iCloud

Collectively in my family we have 1 iPhone 2 ipod(4th gen) and 3 iPad mini's and we like to buy music and apps through the same Apple ID so that we can all share it but we also have a problem about the iCloud.
My son has one iPod and one iPad and he would like his contacts and messages to be shared between HIS two devices but he would also like all of the pictures taken in the family to be shared
The same for my daughter and for me.
Is there a way of selecting which devices share what????
    Thanks a lot
    Acwills

You could and should set up different iCloud accounts in "Settings > iCloud", so that every user has its own email account, calendars, reminders, notes, storage for backups and app data (files etc.), by the way everyone could also use his own account for iMessage (Settings > Messages > Send & Receive) and FaceTime (Settings > FaceTime) so that you all could write and call each other.
Next the Apple ID for music, apps and other media: You all could just set up the ssame Apple ID in "Settings > iTunes & App Stores" for all your media purchases like songs, movies, apps etc.

  • Please advise - we have 2 iphones, ipad ipod, ipad mini - can i use the same apple id for itunes so that everyone can share or do i need individual apple IDs???

We are currently using 5 apple products - but all our contacts etc are shared - please advise. We do want to share our music but thats all...

Create NEW account/ID for them using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. Make sure you specify a birthdate that results in being at least 13 years old
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
Use the new ID on their devices but only for:
    Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
    Settings>FaceTime
    Settings>GameCenter
and Settings>iCloud if you want her to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.
