I own a new mac and an ibook 500mhz currently with mac os X.0.3. (I think it's G4) I bought it new about 5 years ago.
Could I use tiger and install in on my old laptop?

The specks say you need a min of 256MB RAM, but you should have at least 512MB.

Hello, i have been dealing with some problems in my laptop wich has windows so i heard that adobe apps work better in macs so i'm going to buy a macbook air today but i read or heard that i can only login in one device so before buying it i would like to know if i can login in another laptop or how to change to only login in that new laptop in creative cloud.
In case that i cant change to login in another device i would like to know what to do since my old laptop got damaged for the keyboard and i dont really want to invest in repairs for now (i'm using a usb keyboard).

Make sure you log out of your Creative Cloud account on the old notebook. I would also uninstall CC off the old notebook as well. Also be sure you have any files you want to save backed up off the old notebook. Once you have done that there shouldn't be any problem installing CC on a new MacBook Air.
Side note: it's a very generalized statement for someone to say CC works better on Mac OSX than Windows. There's a lot more variables at work in a notebook or desktop than just the operating system.

Can I use Tiger and Snow Leopard on my Mac Pro?

I have a 3 year old Mac Pro with 2 internal hard drives installed by Apple at the time of purchase. At present, I'm using Tiger 10.4.11. I've purchased Snow Leopard (The Family Pack with 5 licenses) and have installed it on my MacBook Pro.
I haven't put Snow Leopard on my Mac Pro since it is my main, workhorse computer and I have several older applications that aren't compatible with Snow Leopard.
My question is: Can I install Snow Leopard on my second internal drive and leave Tiger on the main drive? That way I could use either system by changing the start-up drive to the system I want to use. Is this possible, or advisable? Will it work or cause problems?
Another question: If one of the drives needs repair, could I boot up in the other drive and run Disk Utility to make the repairs instead of booting the computer from the original software CD? (I'm having a problem finding the original Tiger 10.4 System CD in my organizationally challenged graphic design and illustration studio.)

You'd think using an Apple app with the latest kit would'nt throw up any problems.

You can go to http://www.everymac.com and look up the memory in the old Mac and the new and compare, but the answer is going to be no, the older memory will not be compatible with the new iMac. Different modules, chips, speed, etc.

Yes of course the swapfile is used for managing oversubscribed phyiscal memory. But it is totally incorrect to say the system's boot HD size must be larger than 20gig to accommodate virtual memory requirements. Typical UNIX system normally reserve swapfile space no larger than size of physical memory and at best maybe 1.5x to 2x physical memory. In Mac OS X case the swapfile starts off being 64MB (I believe) and as needed more swapfile partitions are created doubling each time - i.e., 64MB, 128MB, 256MB, etc. From my experience of running Mac OS X I've never ever seen more than 4 swapfile partitions which aggregate to some 960MB - and this was a very extreme case on my 4.5gig RAM PowerMac system.
So in response to your statement - "Therefore on the hard drive a real "swap" file does exist and that file can be quite large." I would agree that a real swapfile(s) does/do exist but disagree with you on these swapfiles taking up large amounts of space on the HD unless you consider 1gig of HD space to be large.
The swapfile is a simple mechanism for dealing with physical memory oversubscription. Various flavors of UNIX deal with virtual memory in different ways and those that manage 'real' memory versus 'paged' memory are very different.

I recently purchased a macbook pro which came pre-installed with Lion. I was informed that I could use the lion mac os x installer app, save it onto a USB, and install it on all other home macs. Since I have last year's white macbook (with snow leopard), I wanted to install lion on it as well before giving it as a gift to my sister. However, I can't seem to find the Lion OS X installer on my new macbook pro.
My question is, is it only possible to install lion on all other home computers if you had downloaded lion from the app store? Can I somehow make a copy of the lion os x which came pre-installed on my macbook pro and install it on my old white macbook without having to pay for it again?

No. That's both technically and legally impossible. The copy of Lion that came on your new Mac is licensed only for that machine. If you buy Lion as an upgrade, it's licensed for all Macs that you personally own.
